President John F. Kennedy’s remarks in the White House East Room upon the signing of The Joint Statement on Union Program for Fair Practices by Vice President Lyndon Johnson and the presidents of several labor unions. In his speech President Kennedy discusses the development of the American labor movement, and commends his audience for their pledge to confront the issue of discrimination in their unions.
