The whole reshimming has just put me off buying completely. New to Airsoft and someone like me would damage the gun trying to make modifications to the gearbox. Literally all the reviewers talk about is reshimming and to be told, reshim out of the box is unfortunately upsetting especially when you've had your heart set on this gun for so long now.

@@hhcollective Don't buy any AEG then, none are shimmed out of the box. Duo to tolerance of everything (gearbox shell, gear, bushings etc) you can't set a shimming value that works perfect for every gun.

@@wyz2285 I own the Evo and love it, I enjoy using it but again that was purchased based on all the various tear downs and reviews and reliability. There isn't a single review for that gun that states it needs shimming out of the box for example (it's not perfect, people mention things like the selector switch being crap, mag issues out of the box etc but the gun and gearbox itself is generally well praised from factory without the need for shimming). Most people recommend waiting until it wears down or breaks before doing anything to the gearbox. I'm not expecting the p90 to be perfect across everything but I would hope out of the box it doesn't have to be shimmed?

@@hhcollective And you don't have to reshim this gun. But I reshim every AEG I own because of personal standards.

A gun not being properly shimmed out of the factory is not that big of an issue as people make it seem in my opinion, gears breaking on stock guns due to bad shimming is not exactly a notorious problem in the airsoft world. Ultimately it probably all comes down to cost cutting, better shimming in the factory would require more time, reassembling and dissasembling the gearbox a handful of times on each replica manufactured would just take up too much time and lower the guns they can actually output. With that said, I still reshim all my guns and its always worthwhile to get familair with ur own gun and how it works/being able to fix and improve it.

The mag issue didn't bother me as much since I have so many guns and so many mags, I'm used to having to smack the mag or what not.

Any AEG spring will work, go for a good brand like Guarder.

If the SSR90 sales are good, I'd redesign the whole thing to get rid of the cutoff lever and have micro switches directly at the trigger and selector.

@@wyz2285 peruns p90 mosfet will probably have something like that. It might be good to wait for it to come out. Should be sometime this year

Late answer, but using 11.1 v with under m100 spring can cause pre-engagement on piston and gears and cause serious damage.

The body is slightly heavier and is pretty solid compared to ABS body but it's still a shell, don't expect the same feel of a solid core rifle stock. It is TM spec afaik but I really don't see which parts people look to "upgrade" beside for bragging rights.

@@wyz2285 Wouldn't want to upgrade it but if perun actually comes out with the fabled p90 mosfet I'm thinking of using the ssr90 body and hop up chamber (from the spare parts section) for my cyma p90. If the p90 mosfet is just a rumour I might just buy the ssr90 as it is.

@@Sarss_ I'd rather keep the CYMA body. Although all they are all TM ish I think you could run into alignment issues.

Did u fit the ssr90 body on the cyma pd9? I mean does it fit?

just an fyi I bought the ssr90 hopup for my cyma p90 and I found that the larger adjustment wheel does not fit in the cyma body its a bit thicker than the original. you could probably modify it with a Dremel but I haven't gotten around to that
