This ammo was just sitting on the shelf in a Cody gun store and I would buy a couple boxes of it every week until I had ten boxes. About a week ago I started looking at it closely, because I when I acquired it, I was just looking for anything 9m. The round looks as though there was a lot of thought put into it. Now I have an even better idea. Thank you for doing this.
Just got a box myself. Thought it looked like potentially good CCW ammo due to weight and velocity. Your video on this stuff is the best one i've seen. I dont usually go in for the weird ammo, but I'm a bit more of a believer now. Hooray for "green" ammo! Haha
The advertised velocity was likely shot out of a full size pistol with a 5” barrel rather than a compact. Most companies use this in their tests unless otherwise specified, like ammo marketed for compact pistols. Great video!
Yeah, and even out of a 5” it still didn’t get to the advertised velocity. Another question I had is why would a company sell a self defense style ammo with specs from a 6” barrel. Seems insincere seeing how a majority of people carry a compact or sub compact.
@@jeerrrrrrryyyyy As far as I know, this ammo is advertised for competition shooting, not self defense. But that is what I am reading in 2023 as it's target (no pun intended) market.
Worked at a gun store for a while once these came into the store I fell in love. Instantly tested some out and loved the low recoil high fps speed and quality of the rounds out of my px4. I always get them for 9mm defense.
Basically, what I'm seeing here is that the NOVX is quite a bit more accurate than traditional ammo. The wound channel may prove to be slightly less than a traditional JHP however the NOVX could be argued to be significantly easier to wield and deploy in a self defense scenario when tensions and adrenalin are high.

Lead free ammunition in a handgun might be fairly good if they could keep the price down. I am always EXTREMLY particular about what kind of ammunition i send down my shotguns. Steel shot can ruin your barrel. The biggest thing i would be concerned about regarding "new age" bullets is the $$$$$$$$$$$$$
@@jeerrrrrrryyyyy ; I'm rather surprised concerning steel shot . I put thousands of steel shot rounds through my 1187 water fowling with no hint of damage . My BPS had way less round count , but it also showed no sign of damage . 1187 was 12 ga. the BPS was 10 ga. and I believe both were improved cylinder chokes . IDK

I thought the casing was a nickel alloy, not a stainless steel, though the base would still be aluminum. It's a NAS3 composite case made by Shell Shock, that NovX pairs with the ARX bullet Inceptor makes.
Expensive but if you shoot for competition or if your goal is accuracy and speed or if your life is on the line I would say these are worth every penny and more, I have the +P 9mm 1800FPS 465FT-LBS and they shoot VERY ACCURATE and MUCH MUCH less recoil and felt energy through the firearm into the hands arm and body, It doesnt even make it passed my hands into my arms for me to feel it in my body like my scorpion 115grain ammo is much cheaper and just as accurate but like 2x the recoil and if you shoot fast you loose accuracy as the firearm is popping up and you have to wait for it to settle, if you were shooting out of a longer barrel and very fast or full auto I would say this is the ammo to shoot.
I started looking into frangible/expanding ammunition a while ago. I bought this stuff on a lark and ran 100rds through my P320 Legion, Glock 19 and S&W M&P. Very reliable, very low recoil impulse and it absolutely fucked up those watermelons. I didn't have a chance to test it on a hard surface for penetration. Excellent video. All of my magazines are topped off with these as initial engagement rounds.
What i would love to see it this thing compared to Lehigh extreme penetrator and defender. Also some ballistics gel, but i know that shit is expensive, which is why i haven't done it yet myself...
Our local gun store has a block of ballistics gel next to this ammo on the shelf, with one of these rounds through it. The wound channel is nasty from the bullet tumble and the little air explosion it causes.
I got a box of these today and thought someone had pilfered half the box, but they were just light as a feather. I know I probably got ripped off at $2 a round, but I was in a pawnshop and I hadn't seen them before.
Get some actual defensive ammo like gold dot, hst or critical duty. Until a bullet is traveling like 2k fps the only damage it causes to flesh is what the bullet physically cuts/touches, so tests like these are kind misleading. This bullet would just leave a tiny hole the same size as the bullet in actual human flesh.
I just purchased some norma ndx similar rounds. Supposed to alleviate ftf ( setback) issues with heavy sprung pistols. My czp10c setbacks every varity of jhp after a few cycles.
Great review! I can never decide what defensive 9mm ammo to carry now after watching your video I have found what I think is best defensive 9mm to carry thank you!! I subscribed! Btw what is the name of the intro music? Or is that you playing guitar in your band...?👍😊🍔🍟🇺🇸
How are these any better than the Underwood Xtreme Defenders, other that for the availability of their matched, and cheaper, "training rounds" (which is an excellent idea--hear that Underwood?)? I recall seeing other tests where the NOVX bullet, which isn't solid copper like the Underwood XD bullets, can break apart.
I’m not sure they are better, more or less different. The NOVX Has a higher velocity to the best of my knowledge. As far as the NOVX breaking apart, I don’t have any data on that, my suspicion is that the NOVX projectile would bend before breaking into pieces and most likely after hitting a more solid object.

Good testing, but grouping tests without using a test bench are suspect. I'm also surprised that you don't use ballistics gel. It's cheap, you can make it at home, and its reusable. Great content, keep up the good work.
Thank you for checking out the video friendly raid. I don’t use bench being that people don’t often fire a firearm in self defense off of a bench. Suspect? Maybe, but then why trust anything I say? I used clay because ballistic gel collapses back on itself making the temporary channel difficult to inspect, then the remaining shots act different due to the gel being split from the last round. Clay seems to mold back together better in my opinion. Thank you again, I will try to do my best.
I agree with friendly raid on a bench for more accurate grouping tests, as the point is to see how the ammo performs and nit the shooter. So taking those variables out of the equation is pertinent to showing how the ammo performs, as this test mainly shows how the shooter performs. Even if you decide to shoot off hand, your test is still negated as there wasn't even a specific target; ie bullseye to shoot at every time to see where the potential variances may be. Not at all trying to be a jerk, but would really like to see how the ammo performs with less chance for other interferences. Good video over all. Also, I think the biggest issue I would worry about would be cycling issues, not feeding issues due to such a low projectile weight. How many rounds have you shot and any function/cycling issues?
@@michaelbrown1015 the test that was performed was more to show the group point of impact shift. Accuracy changes with each firearm and each person using it. No issues at all yet as far as a round count I don’t keep track of that, but it’s in the neighborhood of hundreds since the video.
The Novx ammo was above par but your clay over gel makes much more sense than gelatin. Gel might better mimic lower abdominal intestines but clay better mimics muscle.
Thank you very much. Yeah, the clay is “for me” much easier to reconstruct the force transmitted from the projectile. The gel you kinda need slow motion to measure the cavity. During these tests it was obvious I need more clay 😂

Lol! Yeah, I was very shocked! The imi ammo did a lot of expansion too. The other tests I have see on the imi ammo it didn’t expand or break apart like it did on the clay. I must admit I learned a lot by that yesterday.
Definitely a very interesting round. The hole it left in that clay was epic.. Great testing, and the new intro rocks... I'm not just saying that because my name is in it !

No, not yet at least, so for Glock, Glock clone, Taurus G3c, HK, Sig 365 and the Walther in the video is what I have tried this ammo in and so far not one feeding issue.
Ok. I shot them out my kimber micro esv 9mm no issues, but I bought the Canik elite combat N the canik elite subcompact . I use the subcompact with the holosun red dot N I just got these novx +p 65 grain for it to carry, an I was wondering about if will have feeding issues. 🤔 that's some interesting ammo right there. Never heard of it before, performance was pretty good though other than the velocity being lower then advertised. Maybe the tested it in a 5" barrel. Excellent video brochacho!
That ammo is indeed interesting. I wonder what long term storage is like, since different metals tend to react with each other. Very cool nonetheless 👍

I've had mine loaded and carried daily for a year now, no signs of galvanic corrosion occurring thus far. Once a month I disassemble and lubricate the pistol with the green Lucas gun oil after cleaning with Hopps Elite spray cleaner.

Ok first question, since it uses a similar venturi principle to carburetors, can we re jet for 40,. 2nd, that first clay block shit looked like George Michael after Boy George stopped by🤣😂🤣😂 this was a great review, those Novx pills are interesting🤔
Yes they are coming out with 40 cal. I just don’t know the date that it’s coming out. Bahaha! Yeah most likely! They definitely are interesting. Possibly over penetration issues, but that just requires extra due diligence.
