24:50 I basically instantly won on that mission at nova with gwaihir. I can confirm it's just a mess of a mission.

I'm in the same boat as you guys, I quite like the veto system but I don't like playing it in every tournament. In our upcoming event in Durham we are playing a modified veto wherein the players veto simultaneously and if they both veto the same scenario, they play it! We'll see if it leads to more variance.

Oh I love that! Could be really fun.

I personally LOVE Storm the Camp, but that’s mainly because I like doctoring the map to give each player a proper base to set up choke points and what not, in tournaments it’s not great though.

Yeah, that's awesome! Like I said in the video I do really like how "historically accurate" the scenario kinda feels, but just doesn't move fast enough for tourneys. On that note; I'd LOVE some more asymmetrical missions like one force holding the line or a fighting withdrawal.

I agree that the few significantly weaker scenario designs means you need some way to mitigate that lack of ... well fun really. If nobody wants to play it, then you probably shouldn't using some kind of veto. Solving those problems would be better and I agree with a lot of what was said. - Heirlooms of Ages Past should absolutely not have the objectives space out as much and also probably could just not be Maelstrom, right? Thought then its basically like Seize with extra steps. Hmm. - Seize the Prize being a heavy object appeals to me. Could give a use for Saruman's Palantir model. It increases the stock of monster models like Cave/Mordor Trolls and even Shelob who could carry it more easily. Could that and the fact its always set up dead centre be enough to differentiate it from a non-maelstrom version of Heirlooms? - Storm the Camp should have you deploy your Army leader's warband inside your corner and one of your warbands captains within 12" of the centre. So you have your army being the guards or scouts 'on patrol' that see the enemy and the some of your army 'encamped and resting, preparing for the battle' back home. Early smaller fights with the two forward units could be possible before reinforcements arrive. Like a halfway point to Maelstrom where you know your army is split, but you can choose and know which parts are where and you arent just spending the first 15 minutes walking forwards and waiting for stuff to happen. Other idea, this time for a kind of crazy semi-random veto pool of 3 scenarios. Prepare a modified d3 roll to decide which scenario of that trio is played. By default, 1-2 is Scenario A, 3-4 Scenario B, 5-6 Scenario C. Before the roll each player may nominate (can choose to leave all options as they are) a scenario to be favoured and a scenario to lose favour, changing two faces to represent this. For example, the first player to modify the roll decides they do not want to play Scenario B and that they are more favoured in Scenario A than any other, so they adjust the roll to this: 1-3 is Scenario A, 4 is Scenario B, 5-6 is Scenario C. Second player sees this and has a couple of options. They could say yeah, Scenario B sucks, I also want to play A, so 1-4 is A and 5-6 is C. They could say I also hate B but want to play C, making it 1-3 A, 4-6 C. Or if they are an agent of chaos, they might decide, nah we go full random and nudge it back to the even 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 that we started with. So you cant literally ignore a scenario unless both of you agree it is zero fun. If either of you opts not to push it out of favour, there is a 16.666% chance that you end up playing it anyway. I dont think this is what most would consider good. It kind of lets dice decide if you get to play anything resembling the semblance of structure you intended for your army or if you just get scattered to the winds with Maelstrom despite declaring you would rather not. But those scenarios you have not played in a year are certainly, mathematically, more likely to be played that way.

Love all of those thoughts! Love the idea of that kind of deployment in storm the camp.

Some mid chat pythagoras to get me solid. I think in all my days Ive only been to one veto tournament. Not sure its such a big thing here but perhaps this year is different as ive only been to one event this year :(.

That's interesting! It's basically every tournament here now. You GOTTA love some triangle math. But not even accounting for the arc; armies start 3 and a half feet apart. Even marching every turn, that's a bare minimum of 5 turns before you even clash. My old back can't handle leaning over a table that much!

Show Turn 0! Personally not using veto yet as we are still new and don't know what we are doing so we still randomly roll. (though when I tried out Saurman and we rolled conquest of chanpions vs Boromir Capt of the White Tower it was not the best) Also any advise on how you set up your tables with terrain would be great in a future video.

Which part of turn 0 are you most interested in? We just don't record it because we do it all before the intro and don't want to move cameras around, but we can think about redoing the process to fit something else in if there's something in particular you'd like to see.
