ditch witch is a stand alone unit my brotha...this is a skid steer trenching attachment....I guess it's kinda like kleenex right....just commonly known for tissue lol
Josh, before you disconnect the hydraulic hoses from the machine. Turn the engine off. Turn the key back to the on position without starting the engine. Push the button a few times or move the thumb wheel on the joystick back and forth a few times for the attachment function. Make sure the arm bar is down and parking brake is off. Then disconnect the hoses. This will allow any residual hydraulic oil flow back to the tank from the attachment hoses and make it easier to hook them up next time.
When you started out with this blog I already knew how you broke it. I seen that the chain was too loose to start out with but what can I say not a thing huh?? LoL 😂
morning josh its like everything it gets old been watching your channal for a while and enjoy it i call you the happy famer as u are allways happy you have done a lot of work on your farm and once the trenching is done the cows should be happy be safe untill next time
Josh, if you have trouble with hydraulic quick connects. The solution is to alleviate the pressure in the system. Sometimes this can be done by moving the controls after the machine has been shut off for that particular section of quick connect. In the event that that does not do it. With the machine off use a rubber mallet, Or a non-mooring hammer to gently hit the ball on the mail end of the quick connect. It is best to have a rag over the quick connect because it will spray fluid everywhere. Once the pressure has been released your Connection can be made very easily. Hopefully this helps your situation. Signed the manic mechanic.
my brotha.....I know all this for sure...but sometimes they are still hateful to connect and disconnect lol...sometimes I plan to hook up my implements at the end of the day...let the machine sit overnight before I attempt to hook up..that helps relieve the pressure a bit...sometimes they're just hateful lol
Hey Josh thank you for the video and yeah it sure is a lot of work but it's easier now with the machine and things that is not so hot out there now specially with the humidity so it's better that you're getting her done now
SWEET LITTLE GREEN APPLES!!!!!! That is a lot of trenching to be done! As "challenging" as it can be to keep the Trencher operating... it still beats looking at that same job with just a shovel, pick, and crowbar! WOOF! On the other hand, once the job is done, it will be practically maintenance free... due to your forethought and preplanning! Keep plugging away at it Josh... and you will get there!
Eons ago, when I worked at the motorcycle shop, we often replaced the grease fittings on the rear suspension swing arms with American style zerk fittings. Of course, they’re hollow and shear off easily if you get heavy-handed with the wrench. Fortunately, I came up with a great idea for removing the remnant from the bushing. I took a file and stuck the tang end into the remnant, firmly. The I just twisted the remnant out of the bushing. Proper torque on those fittings I called a thumb and finger oomph.
Dude you are such a busy man! Must be good to see the progress you make every day. Thanks for sharing - always appreciate the drone footage - stunning.
You can buy caps for the Zerk fittings that will keep them clean, They do work. And to aid you in filming use a LockNLube Grease Gun Coupler locks onto Zerk fittings and makes lubing a breeze.
Like to hear your thoughts and reasoning on the tire waterers versus the frost free watering tanks going forward. Cost of each setup and what troubles you experience with both will a big help to many. Thanks Josh
you will totally get that info in the future as time goes on I'll learn and teach you for sure....I'll tell ya...a huge price difference and labor difference
I use croil or WD 40 to soften the grease in clogged grease certs, (works 4 out of 5 times) When you regrease at the cert the thinner oil sqeezes out first leaving just the grease.
I have the metric and SAE kits from HF so hopefully I always have the right fitting when I need to replace one. Pays off every time I need one. Especially with fuel as high as it is, don't have to run to town for a $5 kit or $2 fitting.
Hi Josh, Sorry about malfunction junction. Hope that You can get the machine back up and going. You and ALL of the Critters BE SAFE & WELL! Pound that Like BUTTON people!!
Looking good josh and just think once its done the cows will be so happy. Getting parts for anything anymore is a joke my wife's car has been in the shop for over 5 mo this and all they are waiting for is the gaskets for the transmission to come in. Man I hope evrythingnis going good and I can't wait to see more of the mega shop and the new tractor to.
Josh you've got to get yourself a battery-operated grease gun. I bought a DeWalt one last year and it saves so much time and frustration with all the fittings on my tractor/front loader.
Huge project! But you are getting there! Good stuff. Soil looks good...has some good color to it - or at least from what I remember...unless its the camera helping it out.
we are most certainly getting there....but it's gonna take some time. 3 years ago I couldn't press a step in post into the ground because it was so hard...now they slide in with ease! We're making progress!
I don't know if they make them or not, but I think it would be nice to have a trencher where you can drive forward with it so you can tell where your lines are better...
you don't wanna run over your soil so going forward would be much more work...I've said this before...if ya don't like backing up...don't buy a farm lol
Josh Good stuff interesting how you tighten the chain reminds me of how one tightens a chain saw blade a bit , so you're tightening it with grease that you've pumped packed into that arm with the roller bearing at the tip, I take it ? Do you have to replace the teeth on the blade too, it would seem to follow. Heavy duty man, with emphasis on the heavy part. Be safe Josh Hydraulic fluid yet another reason for you to wear sunglasses. All the best David. Go ahead have a Cow as matter of fact have a whole bunch more.🐮 Almost missed it @ 22:11 ,"Idont know why I'm burping & I'm tired of farting.? " & " Is there any way that I could please pass again? Taco Bell." if you ever decide to be a comedian I'm just saying we need a Rodney Dangerfield replacement. You so funny make me laugh & smile. Gnarly way to blow your ball cap off while washing your face and deep cleaning the dirt out your nasal passages. Funny stuff brother
lol....I've been to Joel's place several times....he's a friend of mine for sure. Water lines laying on top of the ground all over the place on that farm......this is a little more permanent...and with all the rocks I have here..this is the best and most suitable option for permanent infrastructure ...often times that "easy way" ends up more trouble than just doing it the right way the first time
Uh...lol ...heck yeah...get out your easy chair you'll love this..Joel is a good friend ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ta-XnASUopg.html&lc=Ugzhu3WRlYLiJeQmXeh4AaABAg
Ram Pump my friend...and that is in no way a sustainable and maintenance free way to keep your livestock watered. Remember your farm can't be a prison....you can't get away for a few days with unreliable systems like that. I had a siphon system for 2 years and it worked...but it wasnt' without it's troubles. This is for trouble free reliable cattle watering year round my friend...so I'm able to travel with the channel and show ya other farms
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer 14:39 you state you hit a stone foundation (underground wall) that i assumed you needed the tubing to pass under, around, or through it somehow... you just continued the run after re-attaching the chain with no more mention of this foundation blocking the path of the trench. was just curious how the tube got past the foundation that i assumed blocked the way.
Why would it leak? I pressure test everything before I burry it...and all connections are stainless steel so I can find them if with a metal detector if needed
lol...well...to defend my hair....it's been going for quite some time bhahhahahaha....so funny..I saw this clip and had no idea how dang bald I was getting in the back....lol...I now keep it shaved all the time
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Its happening to all of us. I am 47 and I am literally twice the man I was when I was in the Army. I really need to lose some weight. I was stationed at Ft Bragg, use to go to Asheville and really loved the area. Wife and I are talking about homesteading and we love watching your show. Maybe we will end up in the blue ridge mountains. We love watching your show and have learned a lot. I think the work involved has been an eye opener for her. She is the woman in Tight Fittin Jeans Conway Twitty sang about. I am pretty lucky.
