FYI While falling after a mount, you can clutch claw onto the monster, meaning you can do a second zsd instantly. Also, you can take off your mantle while falling. GL for your future hunts !
I was too after 200+ hours in world and now im a die hard switch axe main. way easier to use and way more fun, not to mention the dps is just as good if not better. The ability to break parts within seconds of fighting the monster is a game changer!
Charge Blade's best friend is Hammer, and Switch Axe is our cousins. I love having a Hammer Main or Swaxe Main on the team. And of course, I give a salutation to our crazy uncle, the Insect Glaive.
This is my favorite weapon in the game and did a fresh playthrough 2 years ago from starting world to defeating fatalis using grounded style and its way more fun than ZSD spamming since you actually have to use different combos depending on the monsters. Ive now started another fresh playthrough but now am using greatsword.
I also started a new playthrough when iceborne came out. used to main hunting horn in base, but switched to switch axe. I never equipped any mantles cause they destroy the weapon for me.
It's not even optimal for damage to instantly ZSD like that when u get a topple, it's better to do a few Sword Double Slashes and single slashes... damage is actually nuts on topples lol
To be fair this is not ZSD spam yet.... all he did was the zsd mount finisher then zsd on topple. ZSD spam is when you go tool specialist 5, felyne tailor and equip temporal and rocksteady and go unga bunga on the monsters head all day lol.
It is correct that when topple you just need to do combo and zsd at the end. But the spam is correct when using Tool Specalist 5 + Devine Blessing 5 and Not to mention Health Regen Augment, is fucking unbelievable, your certainly almost not going to die with rocksteady mantle when using this combo (exception on few moves that could delete you in two taps anyway)
GS stud here! Like the big weappns but ive never gotten efficient with the hammer! GS, LS and insect glaive is what i manage to put out decent damage with
I did a full GS playthrough way back in MH Tri. Pretty sure I ended up with the 'Eternal Glyph' GS, still to this day it looks amazing. GS has brutal output with no room for error, you had to really know your target's patterns or you paid the price! I've played all classes but yeah, you definitely gravitate towards a favourite. MHW really opened up how cool the bow was to me and CB was just a win since MH4. Still, nothing like blunt force trauma to the head, I'll always be back for my Hammer 🤯
Swaxe was my, undefeated, LEAST favorite weapon in World. I despised it. I wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. One day, however, I decided that maybe I was too harsh, and was bored with experimenting on the other 10 weapons I hadn't given a chance. I made a new character, from scratch, and played through World with NOTHING but Switch Axe. And I fell in LOVE. My eyes were opened. Gone were the days of Longsword and Dual Blades spam. It was an enlightening. I have been maining Switch Axe since. Took it into Iceborne, then to Rise, then to Sunbreak. And now, I'm anxiously awaiting the launch of Wilds while doing SoS flares on World in my free time. Long live Switch Axe.
I did a second account to play world again and used switch axe and I gotta say I’m a big fan of it and a main of it aswell, killed fatalis and arch tempered monsters with it even though people say you can spam, it’s not as easy as you think when you’re against certain monsters but either way it’s fun.
I wonder if there is a mod which replaces ZSD sound with Warhammer 40k chainsword revving... If there isn't, there should be. That or "yamete kudasai!"
That's nothing. The real cool thing that you can do is after the mount, clutch claw on the monster before you even hit the ground, then do another ZSD. It's way faster and cooler since you don't need to wait for that sliding animation when you land from the mount.
swaxe is insane damage. get the axe powered, charge the sword, pop on rocksteady or temporal and clutch into zsd until your mantle times out, then toss on the other mantle
i only realized how switch axe is op when i fought fatalis.. i don't like farming in this game and i lack good items to kill fatalis on time.. but when i tried switch axe and discovered how much damage it can do.. fatalis became so easy! i don't need to time anything.. just glue on his head and get huge damage.
I love how the monster got up and started limping off, and you stopped and just let it go. Probably more concerned with recording this clip so you could share it with us.
I was a former bow main for quite a long time. Tried switch axe for a few runs. I CAN'T GO BACK!!!! While the bow is good for constant damage uptime, the switch axe is insane for punishing!!!
As a Switchaxe main, i deffinitly prefer Iceborne's Swaxe over Sunbreak Because you can either use ZSD Or you can go crazy with Power Axe and constantly trip enemies while also comboing your fade slashes like crazy Way more engaging than what Sunbreak gameplay loop was
if only world has blast dash i hope wild bring back blast dash or even more the bullet barrage tanking the attack with its hyper armor and then blasting the monster alongside with all of our teammate is awesome
i love gunlance but the thing that really hurts it in world imo is lack of mobility, even the regular lance is more mobile due to guard dash and joust charge. if it had the blast charge like in rise i'd play it a lot more
After a number of hits, number is always changing (I don’t know English…) but some attacks give more charge than others, if you do the optional combo it’s enough to get you there and if you do the main it’s not enough but it’s still a small amount.
discharge is the final hit for mounting as a swaxe if the phial is full, you can also execute it with Circle+Triangle [B+Y / LMB+RMB] when clutch clawed
Don't see anything stupid here other than crazy end game fatalis gear/max attack decorations. That is borderline speedrun. Only tip I can't think of is next time place a trap and tranqs first.
Basically: Sword mode has higher dps, but is more "clunky" and needs recharging Axe mode is less punishing and has more reach, but lacks certain bonuses (amped state, elemental bonus, etc)
@@mr.traveler4727 On top of that, SwAxe can freely adjust their distance relative to the opponent. DPS SwAxe is great, but Evasion SwAxe is really fun since you can just spot-dodge damn near anything in Sword Mode when spamming single attacks. Axe Mode isn't as bad as people make it out to be, it's just that it's more for utility rather than damage. It has excellent reach and Powered Axe mode is a reliable stagger tool, which then leads into a transition attack. If you're interested in playing Evasion SwAxe, try playing with Lance first and get the timing on Lance Counters down. It's a great way to learn to read attacks and hurt boxes.
a litle tip for all hunter here (if you can pin me for everyone) put a geologist gem and you can pick up 2 drop each time (i forget if it was only one or twoo) have a nice hunt !
