If the holes for the handprints become a problem, you could fill them with a colored concrete mix or a clear epoxy. Just a thought. Because rolling wheels over them may chip the edges and destroy the handprints over time.

Once everything is dry fill the palm prints with clear epoxy to prevent them from being chipped or dust packed over time. It will also give you a smooth surface for the dumpsters to roll over.

Good idea on the handprints. When I was a kid my parents did it for my brother and I on the driveway. We still visit that house just to see the handprints. It will forever be a great memory of my life.

To everyone saying put clear epoxy in the hand prints, NO, just because you see it all over youtube in its freshly cured and polished stage doesn't mean it will look like that forever, outside in the elements it will be destroyed within a year. Coloured concrete is the only option.

You could fill the handprints in with clear epoxy, would help protect them from chipping a bit and your trash cans would roll right over it!

Just for future reference, back in the day, we used old motor oil on the forms we used for concrete, that way they do not stick. Also, even though Texas doesn't get too cold, you should have used expansion joint, between the slabs and driveway. May want to spray a sealer on the slabs, since their hand prints went pretty deep. Still looks good though. You did not put the date on the concrete. I guess you can look at the video date to remember. lol! Can they put a computer in the lowrider, that has preprogrammed routines so you can concentrate on the burnout and the car does its own thing?

I still remember putting handprints in our concrete driveway in 1998, when I was 5, with my dad. Hits right in the feels.

When the concrete is good & cured, fill the handprints with clear epoxy. You'll have a fairly smooth surface & the prints won't be constantly filling up with crap.

So Matt! If you put some colored Resin in the hand prints you can level them out, to make it easier to roll stuff over and to prevent pooling, and each kid can choose their own design for the resin.

Cool little side project. Maybe you fill the handprints in with some colored epoxy if the cans don't roll easily.

Fill the handprints with nice brightly colored epoxy so they're preserved and you can roll the cans over them easily.

I’m so glad you had the kids do their handprints. My siblings and I did that once on a pour at my parents home and it was so fun to come back and see how much we had grown over the years.

my wife and i did this with our daughter and we filled her name and hand prints with her favorite color epoxy. it kept it from chipping out and made it looks super nice.

You can always fill the handprints with resin if the cans have trouble rolling over them

Every time we have poured concrete we have my son’s handprints and whatever dogs we had at the time. We did my husband’s and mine once . Since we have poured many projects over the years, we have a LOT of dog prints 2-4 dogs at any given time for 33 years. We now need to pour another section somewhere as we have 4 that aren’t imprinted. I doubt anyone buying our house will be impressed 😋

with the concrete for the trash bins at my work we do a quarter inch drop for every foot the form is but it looks great matt good luck in life ☺️

A broken foot, that is what this video reminded of. The cement walking out of a home was slightly higher than the ground next to it and someone, who was carrying something heavy, cut the corner a little. The foot rolled and a cast became a part of their life for a while. Just a little warning about that turn.

Matt - "Gonna have trouble pulling garbage can wheels over"[para] Pour clear outdoor epoxy in them. Protects the print's structure, protects the concrete from standing water, and makes it level for wheels. 😉

When building my parents' house in 2009, we had a bit of concrete poured that we thought would be sidewalk/porch, so they, my nephew and I all put our handprints in it. Turned out we didn't need it, so we just dug it out and use it now as just a place stone, but it'll be something that we keep forever.

You should get a wall mounted pressure washer. They have about 100 feet of line to walk around with and they have longer than 100 feet also.

You can fill in their handprints with a contrasting mortar. Easy to roll over, still get to see their handprints for years to come

For future reference.... You can buy a paddle bit to mix concrete in 5 gallon buckets for your drill. Much easier!

Next time pour a separate slab for the kids hand prints so you move them around. Out in the flower bed and paint them or move them by the pool. A dolly moves them easily. Always like to do that for people when they want to put hands prints in our driveways we build. I always say if you happen to move you can bring it with you and you can put it out of the weather.

Concrete is an amazing invention. Pour a liquid, get a rock. While it cures, you could go back down to the old Demo HQ and pick up Little Grassy. Maybe plant him up there at the new house. Then you could take better care of his delicate Florida leaves that aren't used to the arid air in Texas. Come on, Matt, you owe it to him!

Matt for small areas next time shovel it in dont pour lol. ALSO of you keep watering the area it will loosen up then set and keep getting stronger do that for 4 weeks 2X a day it does help.
