@@Rashala What are you talking about? When was it $30 on Play-Asia? It has never been $30, even with deals and coupons it has never been anywhere near that price point on Play-Asia....
Damn right! That's the one 16-bit Rpg masterpiece from my childhood that's missing on Switch. Final Fantasy 6, Phantasy Star 4, & Super Mario Rpg, but Chrono Trigger is a glaring omission.
Honestly, I feel the same way and I’m 35. I could play many RPGs, Baldur’s Gate 3 is sitting at home gathering dust, but I choose to play Gothic 2 on my switch, because despite the jank, it’s much more my thing than turn based stuff. You just play, you don’t wait for your turn and stuff. I don’t know, I guess it’s more immersive.
The value of the original Square Enix store ESRB release might take a hit short term, but long term it's still the rarest version by far and collectors care about variants if they're more rare, especially since this new one will be French and English on the front for both US and Canada.
I don't know why they do stickers anymore. Just give us a little art book or a poster. They should know damn well nobody that collects games is gonna use those stickers.
the ASI version is the best in my opinion. It has English on the back of the case, no ESRB logo on the front of the case OR game cartridge, and it's got the pixel art on the inside of the case.
I know a guy who loved nintendo and square, and the way they shilled and cheated on this release caused him to start pirating roms. When companies start abusing people right to their face, they get fed up.
I've been waiting to find this on PS4 and now it's coming out on my birthday, even better! Don't have to bother with collectors tax. Thanks for the heads up, I preordered it now.
Thankfully I didn't waste more than $1000 just to buy the collection only to probably be ripped off cause it doesn't have the disc or something, sucks to be the other people that did lol
@@pyroflare7774 with ONE furry race that the males were added a few expansions ago and the females this expansion?? WOW is the furry game with 5 furry races ffs 🤦♂️ If u wanna play in an episode of SpongeBob with a bunch of furries u play WoW… If u wanna play in an episode of your favorite Anime with a bunch of Weebs u play FFXIV… Glad I could clear that up for u 🫵🤡
If this doesn’t sell well (because most people imported from Asia) watch Square/Enix say “guess western markets don’t want physical copies of these games” 🤦
$75 for 8bit & 16bit games is absurd, but the entire series is so damn good that you do get your moneys worth from it since it'd take over 240 hours to beat every game. I just bought FF6 five days ago and it's even better than I remembered. I could've saved some money for the whole collection & just bought the damn physical had they bothered to announce it earlier.
that night they put these up i some how woke up in the middle of the night and couldnt fall back to sleep so i browsed facebook, saw the ad and managed to order the switch collectors edition. i bought it as an xmas gift and it arived just after my birthday lol. the lenticular cover is my fav part. i needed physical seeing i have all the other games on switch
My guess is they wanted to get as many digital sales as they could before a wide physical release in north America. They probably wanted to avoid physical sales or used sales cannibalizing new sales. Then they'd bring a physical later to sate collectors... Either that or they never planned a wide release, then with their recent financial troubles, they saw this was an easy way to bring in revenue.
Yes. It was the most convoluted and scummy marketing plan: 1. Offer physical copy of the game exclusively, it sells out in 6 minutes. Wait 6 months. 2. Release digital only for Steam and cell phones only. Wait 6 months 3. Release digital only for Playstation? Wait 6 months 4. Release digital copy for Switch... wait 6 months 5. Release physical copy for switch... wait 6 months 6. PC release?? REPEAT It's really vicious and they probably did it because they knew their poor direction with FF15 and 16 were costing them their retro crowd, so they... tried to milk us? Like I said in a comment above -- a guy i know actually stopped buying square and switch games and went to roms after this fiasco money grab.
@@viridionwaves Soul of Chaos and Labyrinth of Time from FF1, the Soul of Rebirth postgame story from FF2 and Archanea Labyrinth from FF2, Lunar Ruins from FF4 and the ability to swap lost party members back in during the late game, Sealed Temple dungeon and 4 jobs from FF5, The Dragon's Den in FF6, Soul Shrine in FF6, and Leviathan, Gilgamesh, and two other characters as Espers in 6. I shouldn't be getting more value out of the mobile versions than the "boy boy console" versions of these games. Square effed these versions up
They've been milking their classic and best games (the old ones) like every year on every console since forever now. Maybe they should try to make some new good ones..
When it first came round, I tried getting a new regular failed.I even tried getting the collected dish.Because that was in stock longer than the regular that failed as well. But luckily I'm happy.I held out because i'm finally getting it on the switch as a physical copy
Got a copy from PlayAsia earlier this year and it’s great. No ESRB rating on the front so the box is clean looking. Also has a collage of characters on the inside which I believe the US version is lacking.
To be fair I think these versions have all the updates so unlike the original physical release (which I have the collectors edition) on switch I’ve had to update it maybe 3-5 times since I got it, so these are probably fully updated if anyone cares about that
I've been looking for the PS4 version for 2 years. Dude, thank you for this video, I was finally able to pre order the collection. I'll subscribe as well
Glad i bought the final fantasy pixel remastered version on sale digitally for $60 and that'd I've pretty reasonable priced. I'd be dreading if that physical 😅
We now have a collection for the Mana series, the SaGa series, and the Final Fantasy series, not to mention a Kingdom Hearts collection and a remake of Super Mario RPG.
weird co-incidence i had imported the jp switch version that came out a while back. Really was a great package that led to it being about $10 a title in value, much cheaper than buying off the e-store digitally! I've a feeling these western releases gonna cost more though
There are some things I like about the pixel remasters, but I usually turn them off almost immediately. They don't feature any scrolling text and lack animations, it feels incredibly cheap even though some aspects don't feel that way
I was one of the lucky ones who actually got a physical copy last year without having to pay triple the normal price. I am happy for people who weren't able to get a copy though.
I was close to having buyer's remorse for buying it off PlayAsia back then, but I do agree that the case for this version looks kinda goofy with that 'anniversary edition' stuff on it. That's probably the point though, to be able to differentiate it from the initial release.
I bought the digital on Switch. I might get them on PC because I won't lose access that way, although as big as Switch has gotten, I can't imagine the games going away like previous consoles.
Thanks man! Nice video, I have been thinking on buying the pixel remaster for three months now after finding it finally at a resaler. But this just saves me a bunch, I preordered now with your links, thanks!🙏🏻
I remember getting FFIII/VI on SNES when it came out for $75 90s money WITH an extra $30 mail-in-offer to get the 3 CD soundtrack. Times have changed. I might pick this up, but I would certainly rather play FFVII Rebirth or XVI on PC.
The sad part is I got the original pixel remaster on ps4 and I still haven’t played them might double up on switch and getting a 2nd copy on ps4 but at that point it would be excessive this is the anniversary edition vs the og release idk if that will effect value 🧐but I only buy games to play them when ? Idk clearly I have been sitting on this for a year
I mean that $75 before taxes and shipping rounds down to about $12.50 per game. Doesn't sound so bad put that way. Cheaper than ban buying it individually on digital. Which is $15 on sale and regular $20 I think. I think they wanted 100 or 125 for the limited edition.
It's good more people will get this, but at the same time it is yet another game company who has lied about exclusives or limited releases. There are many now that drive sales with fear of limited releases but then somehow reprint something again or overproduce an edition they swear is so limited. Then these will be on clearance at some point. But it is definitely bad for all the people who buy 2nd hand thinking it is the only chance they will get. I guess if it is any consultation, at least the cover is different to justify owning one of the original SE releases. I actually thought they did a better job with the playasia version because i believe that they printed on the inside of it too versus the SE release being blank
Oh, nice. Good thing I haven't bought it yet. I was waiting for a 50% discount on the PS4 digital version, but I will gladly pay msrp for this version instead.
People complaining about the 75 dollar price… if I remember correctly the first final fantasy game was like 40 bucks when it first came out on the nes… so you get 6 games here for about 12.50 a piece… I mean people always want to complain about something
Native ports of KH 1.5 and 2.5 even if sold separately like the PS3 version would have made square some good money too idk why they don't want money lately it seems
@@25Livemen yes I do agree. $75 is a lot. I happen to have a $10 coupon at the time so that helped but when you think about it, you are buying six games for that amount of money so you’re only paying about $12 each
Glad to see they're re-releasing it, but I think I'll pass, wish they'd also give each game a separate physical release for a lower price as well, so I could get just FF3 (the PSP versions of 1, 2 and 4, and the GBA versions of 5 and 6 have a bunch of extra in-game content that the Pixel Remasters lack, so I'd rather just stick with those)
Got an email from Play-Asia that they reduced the price of the previous Asia version, today. Since I was on the fence I put in an order. Now I see that the game is getting a regular retail release in my area, lol. Anyway, with the new price the PA version is still cheaper, so I stick with that, stickers be damned.
I bought it for $69 even with free shipping on eBay. It's not that big of a difference but even if I pre-ordered it at GameStop I still would have been spending over $80 for it
Yea the people who missed out where the scalpers. I‘m not a reseller, I‘m not a U-Toober, I‘m not a reviewer, I‘m not sponsored, I got the US deluxe giant boxed version from the Square Enix site no problems. Opened it, played it, ripped the CDs, enjoyed the extras. 🤙🏼 So if something is rare and limited people whine and cry, then if they re-press games and make them more available people complain and if a game goes out of print gamers cry as well. Sounds like ya‘ll can‘t be satisfied with anything.
I'm still holding out hope for an Xbox Release. I don't use my PS4 or Switch anymore and I'd like to be able to play those games on my preferred platform.
I know there's always been rare, limited release games but it feels like far too many go that route now. There's no reason this compilation should ever have been that hard to get.
I didn't understand the $75 price tag back when they first came out, and I still don't get it. I thought MSRP for modern video games was $69.99, and I thought it was illegal to go above that for a standard release of a game.
I don’t get it either for a collection of 30 year old games. I mean Sega releases collections with 30 games on it for $40 bucks but for some reason 6 30 year old Final Fantasy games needs to be $75, lol.
My question is, are all those games actually on the disc/cartridge? Or do they do the nonsense of X is on the physical and you have to download the rest?
80$ in Canada before tax. Squenix deserves to take a bath on this; PR is still twice the price that it should be. It's not like I'm hurting for the cash but I'm not paying 90$+ for these games that I've played endlessly and in most cases still own and have access to.
Already got my Play-Asia copy since it sold out overnight Just glad people that want a physical copy can not get one. If they put the collectors edition back up, I'd probably double dip for that.
odd its almost as if the die hard Final Fantasy fans miss the traditional turn-based gameplay, yet SE keeps on deviating from the formula that fans like
Imagine if the pixel remasters included the original ROMs of the games? I’d pay for the new in order to own the old, legally. That would help encourage emulators being made and developed here.
Did you buy an expensive copy or own one you wanted to sale? While I agree they should have made it widely available in the first place, I do think this is better than never releasing it again.
I would have bought this when it came out if available. I had no interest in the Asia version and wasn’t gonna pay more to a reseller. So I’m actually happy they’re doing more copies. That new cover is booboo though.
We need pogs back. But anyway, I literally just got a Switch copy this past weekend on Amazon. It came the very next day. I'm playing Final Fantasy VI at the moment.
@@Darkdrium00 They used the Octopath Traveler engine to replace some scenes. And in FF6 they replaced the opera scene, the most iconic scene in the entire game... and also used a crappy opera singer that simply wasn't good enough.
Eh, it's their product. As far as I'm concerned they're allowed to revise it as they see fit. But of course we're also allowed to judge those revisions.
