What a hymn! And what a history ... pastor rinkhard who wrote it certainly went through difficult times yet was able to thank God for all of life’s blessings. Amen
Oh how can i listen to this great hymn without an outburst in tears in deep tears of joy, especially after carefully listening to the powerful words of the first stanza
"But as it is written: No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9
True... And it's still inspired by God... And, moreover, just imagine Heaven with All Instruments Present... 💯... Wonderful, Splendid.... I'm short of words......
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (October 20, Pentecost 21), we sang this as our Closing Hymn. It is #839/840 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. My guess is that we sang this because our Gospel of the Day was Luke 17:11-19 (Jesus healing of the 10 lepers).
The horn section and drums together with the majestic organ are truly an anthem to God. May God bless all who are involved with the MTC and Orchestra. Collectively, you raise a joyous sound with your voices and instruments to praise our God above.
Another great hymn from this great Choir. What a great composer and arranger John Rutter was specializing in Church and Religious music. He was nothing short of brilliant..

I fell so excited each time i listen to these hymns and i have made it a point of duty to listen to it everyday , and at times people around me will call me names and feel so disturbed , but at times i do say to myself ,is it not better i stop it but i can't because i was once a member of my Anglican church choir , but i and my family are still suffering because we are very poor to the extent people now make jest of us , i need help please

Sorry, there is no finer instrument for leading humans in praise than an Aeolian-Skinner. please do not question this until you yourself have lead others in the praise of God the Father, Son and Holy ghost with such a marvelous instrument. Please learn the instrument. I promise you, you will never regret doing so.
With the current cold indifference to Religion in the West, will.all these marvellous legacies of Christiendom not be lost? Those whose ancestors brought the Bible to Africa have abandoned Christianity to us. Sad.
