I think it's a picture taken from the German original lyrics that go "...der dich auf Adelers Fittichen sicher geführet", which translates as "him who has guided you safely on eagle's wings".

Love it!!! Sometimes I wake up and THIS is the song in my heart! I love this arrangement because it excites and wakes up the senses & expresses a full measure of joy & gratitude!
A very popular hymn here in the UK. We sung it at school too in the 1970s (I was the student pianist 5 mornings a week at school for the hymns, so seem to know every hymn in existence after all those hours of it and that had such an impact on me)... you cannot beat hymn for a good sing.
We all need each other more then ever. Let's not allow race, religious beliefs, politics get in the way of loving and caring for each other. We can be angels on earth for people who are alone or weighed down with grief.
