I think Stix was saying, "You pretty for a girl", as opposed to a WOMAN, and in order to DENOTE or HIGHLIGHT the FACT that she was ONLY A GIRL - and NOT a WOMAN!!!! (NOT ready or acceptable to receive him or engage w/ him the way she was..... Or shall I say, the way that HE was, low-key, FORCING her to!!!

My favorite movie!!!!!! After The Wiz 😂 OMG, I loved the singing and dresses! I was singing and doing moves right along with you!! I also like Whitney's version because Sister lived!!! I was not upset at Satin's demise in the updated movie. 😂 I so wish they could've had the ladies sing the soundtrack. There was an issue with Lonette McKee and the label she was signed to and she wasn't able to record. I love Aretha's songs. But I would've loved to have that too!! Especially "Hooked On Your Love" and Irene Cara singing Look Into Your Heart at the end of the movie!

Only thing I disagree with is comparing Effie(mother) to what Eboni Williams said, what else would this woman do her skills are cooking and cleaning, back then she couldn’t go back to school she did what she could. The daughter saying they still struggling yes it’s true but if the mom had no job it would be even worse and they might not even have a place to live

Nobody saying she shouldn't have had a job lol but Delores is an example of the changing mindset which is what Eboni in this day and age represents being aspirational versus content. Black ppl were business owners even in the 50s and 60s. Not saying it was easy but again it's a mindset.

I do agree people had businesses back then so im assuming she could've had a cleaning business but i dont think she would have had the time to go back to school for anything. I never watched Sparkle. For some reason when I was a kid it never interested me although I watched pretty much even else. I do remember thinking Irene Cara was always so beautiful though. This was so good, I'm going to have to go watch this and the remake with Jordan Sparks and Whitney.

Ik this is a cartoon but can you do bebes kids? Everyone loved that movie and was happy at the end but i always wondered what happened to the kids afterwards. Plus the man pump faking being mice just to get some cheeks and of course bebe being a deadbeat mama and her friend being an enabler. Also the secene when all the other kids in the store being bad af but they singled out the black kids. That movie was a lot to handle and as a kid whats even crazier they played it in school all the time
