Lol. Whenever I see rewatch that scene I wish Kimberly had a bit more resonance to her yelling. Her bringing up the deep rage through screaming and yelling, with Madea's provoking, just made her sound a bit pubescent to me for some reason.

I loved this deep dive! Tyler Perry got mad at the boondocks for spoofing his work but even though I admire his work and his sucess. This movie was super was problematic and had this black women in distress with fairytale expectations. It would've been a better plot for Helen to take her power back and do it on her own then meet a man after that!

If you have any interest in doing a breakdown of the color purple I’d be interested because there is a whole lot of misinformation going around about the release of the cinematic version of the play… I have not only seen the movie but studied the book in depth and the parts that people are spinning to create a narrative… while they explain why there is so much hate for this movie and Oprah (a question I’ve been asking since the 80’s it is incorrect If you are up to it I believe you can do it justice 💜

Women who date strategically ensure their name is on the deed, cars are in their names and they own stock or a business. Black men do not want to acknowledge it, so they intentionally portray these women as stupid and completely reliant on the men. They ignore the network and lessons learned. Those networks don’t let their people “fail”. I think there’s an inherent villainization of black women who select a different lifestyle for themselves.

I think it's kinda ridic that Gabrielle goes 50/50 with Dwayne especially considering all she does for him like helping to raise kids that aren't hers, accepting a break baby, cheating etc. Im not saying he needs to pay everything, but considering the fact she admitted to being financially stressed, and he has 3x her net worth it seems like they could even do 70/30 situation (im talking about for there reoccurring expenses) and maybe 50/50 on their large purchases like houses, cars, etc. Its clear she chose the 50/50 situation but imo its like she's choosing to make things harder for herself.
