You almost certainly did not. It's a common beginner mistake and I'm not the least bit judgey, but you should know at any usual layer height the hot end wouldn't be able to keep up, and the printer would never actually be able to hit top speed unless you cranked the accelerations so high that the print came out looking awful other than literal straight diagonal lines across the whole bed.

I've had my Neptune 4 (non-Pro) for about a week now, and this is probably the best video I've seen on it. That said, I've been printing at a real 250-300mm/s, and I haven't had any of the issues seen here - aside from a bit of ringing, my prints have all come out perfect. In practice, this is just as fast as the Bambu printers, and the only thing it lacks is proper input shaping; the accelerometer headers are present on the controller board and it's obviously present in the firmware, there just...isn't one. In a sub-$300 printer, that's not the worst thing in the world I guess.
@Itsudemo1
@Itsudemo1 10 месяцев назад
It may be close to as fast but it's still a v roller bedslinger. It'll wear down quickly when pushing 200mm/s Core XY is for fast printing
@digiscream

@@Itsudemo1 - when you can buy 2-4 of these for the price of a CoreXY, it's not really a problem...especially when you consider the closed ecosystem and crappy firmware limitations of most CoreXY printers on the market, compared with this one running Klipper.

i bought one of these as a first 3dprinter based on the review, and some yt vids showing that it wasn't impossible to do 3d cad. Apart from a slight challange with the initial manual levelling, it's been great; easy enough to setup, and use. the network acess is only while printing, which is worth mentioning. the money off discount is available directly. Its taken a little while playing around with settings to get precise holes and first layer for latest version of cura, but it seems to be quite capable. It can handle abs and nylon as well as the usual pla.

Toss in a CHT nozzle and that printer looks like it might be a winner. Its really nice to see cheap printers coming to market with klipper installed so we can print fast. There hadn't been any major advancements in FMD machine in the past 4 years aside from volcano style hotends. Like there have been a few smaller things but now with klipper, Volcano, and CHT nozzles we can actually print really fast. Incredible first impression video you did great. Elegoo as a brand has included a lot of the same features and kit to their last couple of generations of Cartesian printer and that's why i tend to recommend them to new users. Other brands you have to upgrade to get the same features when elegoo just realized that this is what people like. The upgrades on this printer is wild with the speed and rails and I'm quite intrigued. Pla+ had been my go-to material for many years since it's the easiest to print with. It's consistent. It's tough and rigid and I can hold some very tight tolerances when prototyping and making fixtures for the shops I work in. 10/10 all machinists and engineers get in to 3d printing as an additional tool in your belt.

It is very nice to see and quite obvious that Dan's knowledge around 3D printing has improved and grown a lot and in a relatively short time! Also really nice to hear that the engineers at LMG are using Vorons. This great as a "first printer with Klipper" option for newbies and I hope printers with stock Klipper that are this affordable reach "ender 3 status", especially since they seem to have a better out of the box user experience. It used to be that consumers would buy an ender 3 and then in the first 5 minutes they started ordering upgrades and printing modifications to make the printer actually print well. I am happy that those days are gone and now you buy a 300$ printer and you can actually have some nice prints without any need for modifications or fixing issues.

"I hope it's not PTFE lined, otherwise you will die of neurotoxin poisoning" Just a PSA for those who don't know, PTFE, commonly known as Teflon, starts to decompose at temperatures above 260°C, so unless you for certain that your hotend doesn't contain PTFE (for example full-metal hotends, most hotends do have PTFE in them) its not safe to print at temperatures above 260°C

Some things he says doesn't sound like he is that much educated in that topic. For example, he says "nice quiet stepper motors" but 90% of the noise of stepper motors comes from their drivers. Meaning, that a really loud printer can get really whisper quiet by just changing the stepper drivers. without touching the motors at all! My first printer was disgustingly loud. Just switching to a "silent-board" made it almost not hearable. Switching to a good 32 Bit board went from quiet to "is it running?" this is just one of multiple examples. I mean, for beginners, its ok. For ppl who are into that for some years... i'd rather watch other YT'ers regarding that topic. still: Love you guys from LTT ;)

The printer I am currently using (and it is also my 1st 3D printer) is Creality CR200B - And for the 1st printer it is actually pretty awesome. The only downside I can think of is that bed levelling is not automatic - it is same as here (4 knobs & sheet of paper trick). But again, the price point is similar to the one in the video, but what you get instead of way too fast printing is fully enclosed printer that is pre-assembled & works out of the box. I was even able to print some ABS stuff and it did not failed. And it is not that the printer is slow. My default print speed is set to 60.

My favorite printer is still that Anker Make M5 that you showed us early last year, especially since I got it for the Kickstarter price which was like $400 or so. It was super easy to assemble in like 15 minutes and it's still stupid easy to use and I love being able to remotely monitor my prints. For me that's the closest 3D printing has gotten to mass market. Maybe still another generation or two and I can see way more people buying those. Especially as they develop out the phone app and library to print straight from the phone.
@dallin9731
@dallin9731 10 месяцев назад
The M5 is an amazing printer from the hardware alone, the software just isnt up to par for what I would expect. Same reason why I am worried for the multi color option later this year. Like you mentioned, updates overtime should improve this, what I am hoping for.

@kwedl
@kwedl 10 месяцев назад
@@monki_sudo For "only" 100 bucks you can buy a bunch of filament rolls though. Most people won't need the P1S enclosure or other small features, if anything since most people just print PLA or PETG you are better off without. Or you can print your own with less money.
@shanematthews1985
@shanematthews1985 10 месяцев назад
@@kwedl yeah the enclosure isn't really required unless you plan to print certain materials, as someone only doing PLA I would have to have the door open anyway if it was enclosed, the P1P is a damn good little printer though

Crazy to see how far 3D printers have come.. I bought my first 3D printer 2017/18 for 500€ It had NO heated bed (I think it was a 120€ upgrade part) and no leveling assists.

I JUST bought an Ender 3 V2 Neo in early June. This makes me jealous, but I don't regret my purchase - some of the joy in these units is modifying them. I changed it to direct drive less than a week after purchase using a model from Thingiverse, which I have since modified to add things I wanted. This Elegoo is now on my recommend list for those that want to start without being modification happy.

The only two things stopping me from pre-ordering this machine (it is pre-order only at the moment) : 1 - "Remember. No pre-orders" 2 - The question if this is a cherry picked / "golden sample" - This is by no means a shot at Dan or LMG, but I 100% agree with Dan on the question of how the hell it's so cheap

If anything preview/review models of 3D printers are usually slightly worse or lack some features or final touches of the consumer release. Elegoo and Sovol are great brands, not everything has the be Bambulabs or Prusa expensive to be good.
@kwedl
@kwedl 10 месяцев назад
@@BeefIngot Why are you all over the comments recommendig people Bambulabs, especially as their first printer. 99% of people will never utilize them or require their features. Most people will even be fine with a Kobra Neo or used SV06/Neptune 3. You keep going on about how nobody knows what they are talking about, but you blindly telling people to buy 700+ dollar printers is just stupid.
@BeefIngot
@BeefIngot 10 месяцев назад
@@kwedl Its not blind at all. I have experience with all spectrums of printers. I say with full context that this is the best option, because I think people value their time, not getting frustrated, not having to tune and calibrate and I've seen way too many people give up or spend all their time with the printer trying to improve it. This printer, you don't do that. It's absolutely a great justification.
@v3c7r0n
@v3c7r0n 10 месяцев назад
@@BeefIngot I'm severely inclined to disagree. First, for the price of a P1S I can buy two of these printers. I am not looking to spend that much at this time. Second, my use case and rationale behind wanting this machine requires zero of the advantages the P1S may or may not have over this machine. Since you don't know my particular use case or rationale, good luck proving otherwise. Third, since, as stated, you know nothing about my intended use of this machine, my experience with 3D printing, or what other machines I may or may not have, your blind (and thus blatantly ignorant) recommendation falls on deaf ears. Fourth, the amount of comments you've dumped trying pumping up the P1S has me thinking that at worst, you are on the Bambu Labs payroll (making you a paid shill) and at best, you're so deep in the fanboy-ism you legitimately cannot comprehend why anyone would ever buy anything else, and both is never off the table. Also, it should be noted that no matter what you may attempt to reply to this with, you cannot prove to me either of those statements are false, not that I'd care if you could.

26:04 enough said.😂 I’m looking into getting a 3D printer for my son. This stuff is beyond me and I’ve been looking at printers for awhile watching many reviews and they all say why they like something and why they don’t and the next person always says the opposite😂 but from what I can tell based off of others this is a really decent printer in the 300.00 dollar range and won’t leave someone wishing they got something more capable. I might even get him the 4 instead of the pro. It seems like a beginner won’t miss the pro features.

My first printer was a piece of crap ANET A8 running some random old version of Marlin and it cost me about $170 on sale, back in early 2017. I then dropped another $25 to immediately replace the PSU (which was a known fire hazard). It was basically a bad Chinese knockoff of a PRUSA MK2 with a crappy laser cut acrylic frame. I probably dumped another $250 into it just fixing things & upgrading parts over the years. Being able to get something this amazing for $299 shows how far things have come since then. I definitely my grab this one of the 3 Max for my plastic squirting needs.
