It's just a small detail but Ulf didn't kill an egg. I don't think a dragon egg could be squished even if someone tried, they seem durable. Anyway the eggs were in a little cocoon type thing and that was when he stepped on, we saw Daemon open one in Season 1 (or it's dragon shit lol)
Apparently Silverwing enjoys the human bond the most and this is probably why she accepted Ulf so easily. If that's true, I wish they made that more clear in the show. I also wish Steffon had claimed Silverwing because as much as I love Ulf, he seems to give in to peer pressure easily.
I like to think that Hugh is the spitting image of a young king J and that j would yell like that at him sometimes also, so Hugh reminds vermithor of him
The egg was unharmed and Silverwing is known to be social, docile and friendly to even non-dragonriders. That's all established lore and I love how it's made it's way into the show. Ryan Condall just once again showing that he understands the source material.
Yeah! I’ve noticed that to many reactors it seems that he crushed an egg, but to me it looked like he only stepped on a shell covering the eggs. Or “dragon-placenta-thingy”?🧐
@@katerinasmoliar1760 it's basically an incubator. A gooey cocoon that keeps it heated and hardens on the outside... Remember the metal things with hot coals in it in which Rhaenyra put the egg in after Daemon took it in Ep2 of S1? Humans have to incubate it manually, but this way seems to be the natural incubator because dragons can't nest like birds. It's probably inspired by some lizards that bury their eggs in volcanic ash to keep temperature.
@@xZFeroxZx, I didn’t remember that particular detail before, but it does make a lot of sense. Confirms that no eggs were harmed. Besides, it would be a really weird plot sequence if a guy who basically killed an unborn dragon ends up being chosen by its mother to be her rider. Sorry, I am not familiar with the lore at all, but back to Silverwing - her being friendly and docile, why do you think she was not claimed earlier?
@@katerinasmoliar1760 because most already had a dragon. Rhaena Targaryen founded the tradition of dragon eggs being placed in kids' cradles. This led to them bonding in the egg already. Those who haven't had a dragon from birth often either tried to get their parents dragons or stronger ones. Meleys as the fastest, Caraxes as one of the most fierce, Vhagar or Balerion... Silverwing was no fighter, never seen a battle before. She's just a cuty potato and who wants that as a dragon? I think a part of it was probably also that she and Vermithor were a mated pair from the start so they just lived happily together, having clutches of eggs. And Vermithor ate whoever came close. This clutch of eggs? Vermithor is probably the father. But he's been drawn out so Silverwing was probably like "Oh Vermithor let u in? You must be cool!"
Silverwing was Queen Alysanne’s (Jaehaerys’s wife) dragon, and Vermithor’s mate. She was described as being relatively docile and friendly, not just to her rider, but to strangers as well. That’s probably why she was being rather playful with Ulf, and she might just have been very lonely in the years since her rider died, which might explain why she accepted Ulf almost immediately. Just goes to show how the dragons have distinct characteristics, just like the characters😊
@@iSnipeJoe true, but they never give specific names, and it looked like Silverwing’s lair was rather deep within the Dragonmount, so it might be she wasn’t one of the ones Rhaena tried to claim. But I might be wrong 🤷🏻♂️
I had a sense that Vermithor found Hugh in the crowd before he started the bbq. That he knocked him off the platform before he cooked everybody. If Hugh is a son of Vermithor’s rider, he would recognize him.
Hugh is King Jaeherys' grandson and Vermithor's last rider was Jaeherys and Ulf is Baelon's bastard and Silverwing was Aylsanne's dragon who was Jaeherys' wife and Baelon's mother. So basically, both the dragons are bonding with the grandchildren of their previous riders.
Ulf is likely not anything. Probably just went grey early and bullshitted for free drinks. Which works, since Nettles is being cut, and she was explicitly a non-Valyrian dragonrider
@@khagapatibisoi3835 More info: Saera was disowned at an early age after giving her maidenhood away prior to marriage, among other things. She was known as being promiscuous. She then sailed to Lys and worked in a pleasure house, where is the last we were told of her.
I loved the conversation with Jace and Rhaenyra. Jace can't refute that she has a point re their current situation, but neither can Rhaenyra argue that Jace is right about the long-term impact on his claim. They're both right
@@SwiftJustice no she's not XD She is being stupid, Jace gave her the solution last episode. She needs DAEMON. Giving dragons to commonborn bastard is the worst thing she could ever had done, this is going to be disastrous
@@GustavoCardoso95 Daemon is not a solution. Daemon is another problem. They are uncertain of his loyalties and he is not responding to her messages. Going there personally is dangerous because they don't know what is going through his mind. If he turns out to want to rebel or get violent, what then? They are fucked. Besides, Daemon alone is not a full solution either. Even with Caraxes, they don't have a guarantee to take out the Blacks. Even if Daemon rejoins them, the blacks have: Syrax, Caraxes, Seamoke, Vermax (who is small) and Moondancer (who is also small). The greens have: Vhagar, Dreamfyre and Tessarion. Sunfyre is also recovering. And Dreamfyre is not a small dragon. It is an adult dragon almost a hundred years old. Sure, we as viewers are privy to the information that Dreamfyre is unlikely to fight because Halaena doesn't want to fight, but the characters in the Black team don't know that. It is still a dangerously close match up, because although the blacks have more dragons, the greens have the biggest ones. And that is in the assumption they manage to get Daemon to capitulate, which is a dangerous assumption to make. You assume the best but you have to prepare for the worst.
@@hoya1178blood doesn’t mean much because not every targaryen becomes a dragon rider and not every dragon rider is directly linked to a targaryen, nettles is an example of this.
@@hoya1178 valyrian blood yes, my point was that the dragons are not inherited directly from parent to child, or grandparent to grandchild. vermithor didn’t take to hugh because he’s the grandson of jaehaerys, he took to him because he’s valyrian.
I wonder if seeing people starve to death, empty unfulfilled promises from the crown, and losing his daughter pushed him over the edge. If He survives the war, he would be a formidable challenge to the throne; he has a massive chip on his shoulder and is for the small folk (like John Snow ).
??? Orders are orders!!! Tyrion: ''Quite right! Especially the *QUEEN* orders!'' Janos: ''I never said they were the *QUEEN* orders.'' Tyrion: ''No but... Who else would want to murder kings Robert bastards? She always been a jealous woman.'' Janos: ''You know your *SISTER* better then I do.''
Vermithor and Silverwing bonded to their previous rider's grandchildren. Jaehaerys and Alysanne's daughter Saera was Hugh's mother, and Ulf is the bastard of their son Baelon, Viserys and Daemon's father.
Exactly and Seasmoke bonded with Allan because he has the same blood as his former rider that he misses as they share the same father. If they are adult dragons they will only bond with people of the same lineage as their previous riders. Dragons are like the 23 and me of Westeros.
There is no she or he dragons. Canonically, dragons are intersex. Like a lot of lizards are. This is explained in the books. They change their sex based on reproductive needs.
I think she confused Ulf with one of her hatchlings. That's why she was pushing him, prodding him to get up and move, like a mother animal might push her newborn to get up and walk.
@thedothrakian6355 well Daemon was allowing him to talk that way. He could kill all those people that were gathered single handed. He needs the army so has to take the verbal abuse
My most favourite aspect of this episode is the sound design of Vermithor when he breathes out fire. I just love it Also, damn Oscar Tully ! MY man got balls of steel. He's the Lyanna Mormont of HOTD
Rhaenyra did nothing stupid. As Spartan said, anyone who claims a dragon put their lives at risk. That's common sense. Rhaenyra also told them this. She didn't force them. Hugh's mother is Princess Saera Targaryen - a daughter of King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne. She was the sister of both Viserys and Daemon's parents (Prince Baelon and Princess Alyssa) and Rhaenys' father (Prince Aemon). Jaehaerys and Alysanne had 13 children. All of them and Alysanne died in Jaehaerys' lifetime. The important ones are Prince Aemon (Rhaenys' father), Prince Baelon and Princess Alyssa (Viserys and Daemon's parents. Baelon is also Ulf's father), Princess Daella (Aemma Arryn's - Rhaenyra's mother, mother) and Princess Saera Targaryen (Hugh's mother). Hugh is still a bastard as Saera never married. She was very promiscuous and constantly slept around so Jaehaerys disowned her. She ran away to the Free Cities, set up her own brothel and became really successful. She's dead this point too though. Vermithor used to be Jaehaerys' dragon. Ironic the grandchild from the daughter he disowned was the one to claim his dragon. Silverwing used to be Queen Alysanne's dragon. She's a very docile and friendly dragon which is why she didn’t get pissed about the eggs. All the dragons have different personalities - like people.
i love that you could pick up the dragon’s different personalities in their traits and the way they roared!! it’s one of my favorite parts of the episode
Bro, these guys are commonfolks, in fact people in these world they are not intelligent and you tell them that a lowborn claimed a dragon wtf are they going to think, they all want to change their lives for the good? Rhaenyra got there and didnt warn them about the consequences in detail, give them time to learn and if they were sure or not reaffirm them to no go, nor sent them all at once but 1 by 1 but she sent them like a herd of sheep to be easily killed and even her guards got fucked and everything could have gone 100% bad, what does that mean? I tell you, pure stupidity and unmeasured ambition for fast results. Her own Valyrians followers told her this is wrong, she conned, lie and manipulated people without any experience at all in dragons with voice of authority and hope to claim that Dragon only because she is desperate and sacrificing whoever she needs to sacrifice like last season when she killed that innocent guy and this means that she killed them as much as she killed that baby in sending killers to kill Aemond, by culpability she is 100% as the main responsible for the people they murdered because after all she sent them through daemon to kill and they did just that, man you blacks are horrible at analyzing this series and believing your own words haha´coz you are fanatics to Rhaenyra, you are biased as fuck. Keep thinking this is good vs evil. This series has made Rhaenyra a good soul for stupid people but the smart ones see her shit for what it is and you only speak what this series gives you but do not thinking further coz you dont want to and can´t.
"Hugh is still a bastard as Saera never married. She was very promiscuous and constantly slept around so Jaehaerys disowned her. She ran away to the Free Cities, set up her own brothel and became really successful. She's dead this point too though." You are kind of underselling what Saera did. She was found with 3 different knights messing around. It was also found out that she would coerce her noble handmaidens into having sex with men for her entertainment, causing one of them to get pregnant. When she was brought upon the king to explain herself, she simply demanded that she be allowed to marry all 3 of them like Maegor had married multiple wives. This was the wrong thing to say because Maegor was a monster who murdered his siblings for power. As punishment, Jaehaerys was going to have her temporarily live with her Septa sister, Maegaelle. Which was a slap on the wrist, lets be honest. Saera, however, didn't accept even this light punishment and tries to steal a dragon egg and run away. Enraged by this, the King Jaehaerys sentenced the 3 knights and one of them chose trial by combat. King Jaehaerys himself decided to fight him and killed him. Enraged by Saera's attempt to steal an egg and her refusal to accept her guilty, he banished her to Old Town so that she could join the faith. She escaped and went to Lys to become a courtesan and later on a brothel owner. She had several bastards and was a constant source of shame for the family, her bastards even arrived in Kings Landing decades later to try and press their claim during the Great Council. Even at the end of his life, King Jaehaerys, suffering with dementia, would call out to her thinking she had come back and often mistake women for her. ----- A cool quote from the booksm when Ser Braxton "Stinger" Beesburry was sentenced and chose trial by combat instead, in which he faced the king and was killed: Jaehaerys: Any knight accused of wrongdoing has a choice. You can prove your innocence at hazard of your body. Braxton: Then I choose trial by combat. Which of these old men do you mean for me to fight? Jaehaerys: This old man. The one whose daughter you seduced and despoiled.
While that makes sense that runs the risk of alienating her allies , if she wants her council to not undermine her she needs to be more decisive instead of hesitant because that's the reason why their acting that way .
That was still dumb if she wanted to talk to her master of whispers she should have done it before or after the meeting. It's irresponsible just to skip the meeting altogether. The council and her child are just left sitting there wondering what's going on during a war. She needs to be a better communicator no matter the response to be honest. Their lives are on the line too. They could easily leave her butt and pledge to house green.
the dragons seem to respond to similar personalitys like vermithor accepts hugh when he feaarlessly steps in front of him but silverwing being more docile accepts ulf when hes lying in submission on the ground
With that logic with her being so docile and Ulf becoming her rider like that. Then pretty much anyone could claim her. Courageous or not with only one requirement having some Targ blood.
I think it's entirely possible that Ulf didn't have much control over Silverwing when he took first took flight with her. Perhaps she just wanted to flight to King's Landing, and he was just along for the ride! I mean even Aemond struggles to give commands to Vhagar when he's riding her.
I think Vermithor sniffed out that there were only two, possibly only one (Hugh), worthy riders to him in the group, when he stretched his neck over the first volunteer, and that he deliberately didn't flame Hugh. Basically this was all an audition where Vermithor tested Hugh, and you can kinda see how Vermithor turns away from him and towards the girl, allowing Hugh to get away, and then he threatens to flame the girl to see if Hugh will rise up. And Hugh did. :)
@@GustavoCardoso95 That snap was slow and telegraphed. Hugh had all the time in the world to dodge it. Vermithor had snatched up two other people from further away, faster, already.
Really dumb af of Rhaenerya to put all the prospective dragon riders in at the same time. She should have sent them in one by one. Probably should have started with the calmer Silverwing too. For all she knew Vermithor could have smoked every potential Silverwing rider
@SpartanandPudgey ! Hugh is a son of Saera Targaryan, daughter of Jaehaerys and sister of Baelon Targaryen, Viserys & Daemon's fathers In season 1, Lyonel Fort said to king Viserys (in the ep3 of the royal chase) that the daughters of king Jaehaerys drive him crazy. It is particulary the case with Saera Targaryan. Saera Targaryan's story Saera Targaryan is one of King Jaehaerys's last child, She was an arrogant and manipulative girl, who thought that everything was due to her because of her status as a princess ("She knows what she wants and she wants everything right away") and who liked to make cruel jokes around her. At 11, she stole wine and beer from kitchens and could show up drunk. At 14 she wanted to marry the prince of Dorne or the king beyond the wall to "be a Queen, like mother". At 15, Saera started hanging out with a group of high-born girl and a group of young ser lord and knights including a knight nicknamed "Stinger", who had a reputation for making bastards everywhere. Later, she attempted to prank the simple-minded court jester who was found lost and panicked in a brothel, a joke orchestrated by Saera. Wanting to question Saera's friends about this affair, the queen realized that one of Saera's friends was pregnant, that she did not "know who the father was", and the affair took a much more dramatic turn when it was suspected that Saera had potentially also given her virginity to one of the knights she frequented. King Viserys questioned his daughter, who went through all the states, denial, anger, contrition, bargaining, and finally defiance, announcing that she had slept with the 3 knights, they all think they had her virginity but they are so stupid, and asked the king that she marries all 3, after all King Maegor had 8 wives, why not her! Horrified, Jaehaerys ordered her taken back to her room. Saera will then try to escape but will be captured. Her father then decided to make her leave her princely lifestyle by sending her for a few years to experience the rigor of the Sisters of Silence, in the hope that she would learn contrition and modesty, in the great septuary of Oldtown. But then again, Saera runs away by pushing an old septa down the stairs. Then she sold her body to sailors to obtain a crossing to the continent of Essos, where she then worked as a luxury prostitute in a house of pleasure, before becoming the manager years later. At the great council of 101 which saw Viserys accede to the throne, some of Saera's bastard sons tried to be candidates for Viserys' succession but were obviously rejected. Jaehaerys then repudiated his daughter, believing that King's Landing had enough whores as it was. Queen Alyssane planned several times to go look for her daughter, but King Jaehaerys dissuaded her, warning her that Saera would slam the door in her face and he would spit in the face, maybe the queen needed her daughter, but her daughter no longer needed her mother, and to get her back to the Red Keep she would probably have to use force. What's the point ? The series made Saera Targaryen Hugh's mother, which is quite logical: There haven't really been a lot of princess prostitutes among the Targaryens!
29:13 Spartan's right. They chose to come and they knew the risks of death. They had to know when you bring in 100 people and there's only 2 dragons to claim then there's gonna be death. 32:32Ulf didn't break the actual egg, just the cocoon that they come in. Silverwing was known to be the most docile of the tamed dragons.
Silverwing was said to be very docile & a sweetheart. She was Queen Alysanne's dragon (Wife of Jaeherys) and she roosted with vermithor. I am surprised they tried to have Rhaena claim seasmoke and not Silverwing
She probably did. Rhaena made several attempts to bond with a dragon and it was stated that none of the dragons on Dragonstone would accept her as a rider.
i dont think ULF did it on purpose. I think Silverwing took him there on her own. i dont think he actually stepped on an egg but stepped between the eggs.
Facts this is her first rider in a long long time and her first flight in a long long time and we know dragons like to frequent places they recognize as home or their rider loves through seasmoke so it will make sense her first stop is kings landing where her former rider queen alysanne spent most of her time with her and had her family and probably her best life moments
Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't Ulf ride Silverwing to Kings Landing at Rhaenyra's request? It's not a conversation we needed to witness. He claimed the dragon and she sent him on a ride to act as bait. Get Aemond's attention, then haul ass back to Dragonstone. That way Aemond will get to see what he's up against. Why else would she be standing out there waiting with the dragons behind her?
@@4brtndr1 um vermithor could just be outside for some fresh air as he hasn't been out in ages and now that he has been claimed there is no risk in allowing him to stretch his wings Syrax and seasmoke are the most free dragons in the realm apart from the wild dragons those guys are never chained down and are allowed free ranging I dunno it just seems weird from the blacks to show their most powerful hand without getting anything decisive out of it mysaria and the council would not like that and Rheanyra is no fool
@@4brtndr1 i'm going to guess that she gave directions to the DRAGON, and not to Ulf. clearly he didn't know what he was doing and was just along for the ride. probably told him to just "hold on" lol
When I saw the thumbnail I knew probably just like many others what Spartans words were gonna be when Hugh was facing down Vermithor, I knew the line of "Mans a beast" was incoming and boy was I right lmao
Its seems a dragon decides who its rider is going to be based on their acceptance of death. Aemond got Vhaegar just before he was about to be burned and accepted it. Alyn got Seasmoke by accepting that he was about to die. Ulf the same Hugh the same And I'm betting Rhaena will accept death aswell before she gets Sheepstealer. So its not fear, its not bravery, its acceptance of your fate.
So I guess some people didn’t realize that Rheanyra had sent Ulf on his dragon to set up Aemond. That’s why they we’re waiting for him and Aemond realized that it was a setup, that’s why Aemond turned around. You saw Ulf landed on top of the building he was ready and waiting with the other two dragons .
Since Spartan is 300 movie superfan... you'd be happy to recognize Ser Rickard (white cloak that's in the woods with Allicent) is the captain from 300 ... he also played in Troy .
Everyone keeps asking why they holding them back, bro if they leave, rhanerya will look like a fool, who sacrificed few people and gained nothing, why is no one getting it, wat she did was kind of cruel, but she told them before the process starts, now the process has started, she must see it through.
@@okpareogaga4425 it’s not meant to be a spoiler, rather a direct reference to jace’s conversation with rhaenyra where HE is saying he won’t have many ways to validate his claim if needed because his strongest (being a dragon rider) is being diminished. i’m sorry if that wasn’t clear
Rhaenyra doesn't care about the lives of the smallfolk 😂 Btw, team black has seven dragons with riders: - caraxes - syrax - vermax - moondancer - seasmoke - vermithor - silverwing
Team Green on the other hand has 4. - Vhagar - Tessarion (Daeron's dragon) - Dreamfyre (Helaena's dragon) - Sunfyre (seriously crippled like Aegon II) Tessarion is mentioned to just have taken wing, so definitely not that experienced. Dreamfyre is formidable but I can hardly see Helaena hurting anyone. That leaves only Vhagar.
Agreed. She only cares about her ego to be honest, she wants to feel free like a man and powerful like the warrior Queen Visenya. This is a turning point for me where I see Rhaenyra more as a tyrant than anything else
Vermithor really looks scary, even his name sounds scary. Whatever happens in the finale, I highly doubt there will be any happy winners at the end of this season.
she could've been more cautious & not push them all in the hall at once & especially she didn't need to block the way out. the first I could forgive because maybe she didn't know better. the second is unforgivable in my eyes.
Ah so defending is only good if you're defending rhaenyra. Tb fans are delusional. You can be a TB fan but please don't try to excuse rhaenyras obvious horrible acts.
Rhaenyra ordered the gaurds to block the exit so no one escapes, she was so desperate to find a rider and each one of those people is an opportunity, it's cruel and wrong. another proof that neither the blacks or the greens are good people, all want the throne at any cost.
Her motive, which she stated in the episode, was to save lives by preventing bloodshed. She wants to use the dragons as a deterrent so the war doesn't need to be fought. I think this is why she showed her hand to Aemond instead of keeping it a secret that she has new dragonriders.
@@jamien368Fr that was so stupid and I do not know if the writers are delusional or if it is Rhaenyra herself. We have seen what dragon war is Rook's Rest, and how Criston Cole described it. How is adding MORE dragons gonna improve the situation in terms of bloodshed ? I personally think the writers are intentionally making Rhaenyra delusional, she is in her false messiah arc
I figured that the two characters who previously had speaking roles in the series would be chosen as riders by the dragons. I really didn't want the town bar fly, Ulf, to be chosen, but of course he was..😅
Spartan there are a few wild dragons and the Lady of the Eerie specifically said it was a wild dragon. As you saw in this episode Silverwing is definitely not wild and is very tame and docile
When Jace brought up Harwin Strong to his mom I was “boy who the F you think you talking to?!”….but then he started making sense, like A LOT of sense about the whole situation and I was like “F..k man this is messed up everywhere” smh
It's frustrating that Rhaenyra and Harwin's relationship wasn't shown at all beyond a few glances. I wonder if, after she and Laenor failed to have children of their own, she chose Harwin because his family, House Strong, has the blood of the First Men like the Northmen. So she thought it would fulfill the Song of Ice and Fire prophecy. If not, then she was arrogant and relied too much on her position as heir to protect her from scandal. I doubt we'll hear anymore about Ser Harwin, but he was really cool.
@@psychedelicpegasus7587I think it happened similarly to her relationship with Cole they were both in the moment and didn't really think of the consequences and since visarys didn't do anything they just kept going.
Alicent reverting to the colour blue for her mother's house is a sign that she is stepping away from the conflict in which she has no power or influence. In Season 1, her red hair and her mother Lady Alerie's blue dress, represented the colours of House Florent. She is wearing blue again in Season 2, surrounded by green and then she discards both to wear the white of peace.
Jace is not wrong. Giving dragons to common born bastards is a BAD plan. She could have just tried to fly out to Harrenhall and get Daemon back into the fold, but she is falling for Mysaria's manipulation. she wants to feel powerful like Visenya. This is not going to end well I bet, what's to say that those riders are not going to betray her at any point? They own nothing to her, they already have dragons now.
yes but they have no plan at all. Get Daemon? what a joke he runs for himself for now. And no Mysaria didn't manipulate Rhaenyra. She even asked her if she trusted Addam. She helped her to build the plan but the idea initially was Jace's.
THE LOOK IN HUGH HAMMERS EYE SCARED ME I don’t think it’s a good move Edit: He reminded me of King Isildor in Lord of The rings when he was supposed to throw the ring into the fire but turned and walked away
Kinda funny how they support Daemon while he is the most crooked man but Aemond literally did nothing yet crooked other than accidentally killing Luke that he is also sorry for but they think he’s the villain 😂😂
Agree. I mean he groomed his underage niece and cousin and I can’t think of anything non-selfish that he did tbh. So off being a pedophile, a predator, and willing to fuck anyone over for his benefit, yeah, I’d say he’s on the shittier end of human beings. Add Blood and Cheese to it, yeah, there’s your answer😂 but he’s for Team Black which they want us to feel like are sorta the “good guys” so maybe there’s that. As a person, hate Daemon. He is an extremely bad dude and against everything I stand for. But I love Matt Smith’s performance and can’t look away any time he’s on screen.
You do know he tried to murder his own brother? Kinslaying is one of the worst crimes in the world of Westeros, and he would have been both a kin and king slayer.
@@danielleeskelton That's not the point you goofball 😂... the point is... these guys and most other guys treat and react to daemon better than criston (a much better man than daemon) and aemond (Had the potential to be as bad or worse but he never diddled his under-age relative or 💀 his wife).

Did you both not notice how the drunkard was gently knocked off the stone platform by Vermithor with his mouth closed with no flames or teeth showing, he is in close communication with the other dragon and if you look at the reaction of the dragon to the drunkard, he already accepted him as his rider and thats despite the drunkard standing on a dragon egg, he didnt have to make any effort to bond with the dragon because it was already a done deal, and Vermithor knew that himself, so all he did was nudge him off the stone platform and in the right direction to meet his dragon mate, hence no threat, in fact, the drunkard was the safest person on that whole platform at that moment in time...lol.
Oscar was the mvp of the episode. I love that the dragons pick their riders. I believe Rhaenyra told Ulf to go to Kingslanding to draw Aemond out so they could ambush him. That last shot of Rhaenyra and the 3 dragons waiting on Aemond gave me life. Loved your reaction 🖤
posted this above but it applies here too - i think she probably directed Silverwing to do the flyby of KL especially since these are new riders who have no clue
Idk how every reactor somehow missed that dragon eggs come in “Clutches”, we learned this when Daemon grabbed the dragon eggs in season 1. So Ulf didn’t crush the eggs. He just opened the clutch, the eggs were fine. And also, dragon eggs are as strong as stone.
Hugh is the son of Saera Targaryen, daughter of Jaehaerys and his sister wife Alysanne, who run away to become a prostitute and Hugh is in the show his son, making hinm the cousin of Viserys, Daemon and Rhaenys.
It wasn’t unintentional, Ulf going to King’s Langung. That’s why he went, to be seen. And what happens when he gets seen, Aemond hops on Vhagar, comes to Dragonstone and sees all her new dragons. Rhaenyra really wants to end the war. She’s hoping that seeing all those dragons will have the greens waving that white flag.
Rhaenyra gave the people a choice. Not a single one was forced. Yet so many are willing to blame her. Remember a few episodes back? Criston Cole forced thousands of people to join his army, as dragon bait. The dragonseeds traveled to Dragonstone of their OWN volition. They sacrificed themselves.
Rhaenyra team The Queen- Syrax Daemon- Caraxes Jacaerys- Vermax Joffrey- Tyraxes(young) Aegon lll- Stormcloud(young) Baela- Moondancer Addam- Seasmoke Hugh- Vermithor Ulf- Silverwing Aegon team The King- Sunfyre Helaena- Dreamfyre Aemond- Vhagar Daeron- Tesserion These are the dragons that we know.
If you remember back when Daemon found some eggs, they were in a big mound that he had to break open. Ulf just broke open the warming sack thing. I don't think he broke eggs.
I was looking at that sea of illegitimate targaryens thinking how many of them must have been Viserys and Daemons bastards, we know they were both adventurous in their youth
Rayna is after Sheep Stealer, and it’s not been mentioned this season but theirs still another wild dragon on dragon stone called The Cannible. He is a beast but uncontrollable and he feeds on dragons.
Honestly you guys have become my favourite reactors to HOTD so quickly, solid knowledge, not too much chatting and just genuine reaction, no stupid jokes etc. 10/10 👏🏼
Also - from what I’ve read, Rhaenyra gave instruction to the guards to not let them leave as someone there had already been chosen by Vermithor at that point, see the way she smiles and refuses to ‘away’ (vermithor was Hugh’s grandfathers dragon). Was a communication between them both when she booped the snoot 🤣
An interpretation of the dragon seed scene w Vermithor is, Valyrian magic, which the dragons are part of is entirely based on fire, blood or both. So to “offer” so many more seeds than will ultimately claim the dragon is some kind of invocation of the same offering of blood and fire that Dany made in sacrificing the witch in GOT.
29:01 - I felt the same way at first before I realized Rhaenyra's goal is to use these newly recruited Dragons to end the War before it kills THOUSANDS. Queen Rhaenyra is essentially making the calculation to sacrifice a handful of lives in order to have a chance at saving THOUSANDS of lives. ***Classic Trolly Problem***
Every reactor has the same “That’s it?“ reaction to Corlys saying “Well done” to Addam but I think to him that’s exactly what he wanted to hear all his life, recognition from his father.
That ending shot makes me want another one that shows her entire side with all of the dragons. Rhaenyra, Daemon, Jace, Baela, Addam, Hugh, Ulf all lined up with seven dragons behind them.
Some one may have mentioned it already but Ser Willem Blackwood, the man that Daemon executed at Harrenhall is the young boy that was one of the suitors for Rhaenyra in season 1. He was being taunted by an older boy (Jerrel Bracken) and Willem killed him.
I thought Ulf didnt fly over kings landing on a whim. But was sent there to Bait Aemond /Vhagah. That’s why they were there waiting for him. To show there power …he seen them and got the hell out of there …?
Rhaenyra had doubts whether Addam would be able to get Seasmoke to follow her to Dragonstone, would she send Ulf on a mission into enemy territory 5 minutes after he bonded with a dragon? Silverwing was happy to have a rider and decided to stretch her wings with him and flew to a place she knew well, Ulf had no control, he was just a passenger.
@@Atlasss97 oh wow thanks. I really thought this was happening in real life somewhere on our planet. 🙄 I find this argument so stupid. What's the point of watching something like a zombie, without giving it a second thought or discussing about it because "it's just a TV show/movie". Lucky me that you were here to open my eyes
at 6:26 If that is not an Old Western Cowboy Standoff... wow! All we need is a sound track going... wah wah wah. As these 2 characters steer each other down, with there weapons on there sides ready for battle...
As for why they held them back, it's only a theory, but people think Rheynyra wanted the most casualties to kill off those who could have a claim to Jayce's inheritance, while hopefully getting the two riders she wanted.
the sacrifice has to be made if you want to claim a dragon even though you're a royal Targaryen, the dragon will burn you too if it doesn't choose you no matter how much you prepared. they knew that but decided to come anyway because if they made it, their lives would change.
