Update via Tata Steel: ♟| Daniil Dubov tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. A second test requested by Dubov himself showed a negative result. The Dutch health authorities stipulate that in these circumstances the positive test result stands and supersedes the negative outcome #TataSteelChess
Dutch authoritarian stupidity all around. Rt-PCR tests are NOT for disease diagnostic and prove nothing. Futhermore, all Dubov's game results must be canceled and stricken, or else unfair competion with those who drew against Dubov.
@@Luutzen007 It just sucks to have played Dubov early then. If you strike all the games, then the opponents who defeated Dubov fairly will feel cheated for their effort. There's no perfect outcomes when stuff like this happens - but the games have to stand.
I told this in a chess memex meme already that Dubov's covid positive is a complete bullshit story... People called me Idiot. Now guess who are the actual Idiots!
But you didn't have to cut my bishop off. Make out like my attack never happened and my h4 move meant nothing. And I don't even need your tempi But you treat me like an IM and that feels so rough.
But you didn't have to check me off Force mate like it never happened and that we were nothing And now I don't even need your rook But you mate me like an IM and it feels so rough No, you didn't have to stoop so low Have Dubov collect your records and then change your openings I guess that i don't need that though Now you're just some Fabi that I used to know
As a fabi fan, the 'title' after the lose adds insult to injury. But its true , fabi is not playing like he used to. It is so sad, but i hope he can play like he used to.
Fabi has scored 3 wins with black and has in general stayed away from any lines of his main repertoire... He had a few really good tournaments between his commentating and the Tata Steel which is also to be noted, he's gotten really solid in rapid chess for example. Given his opening choices I don't think he really cared much about the result of this tournament, just using it to try out a few lines.
@@denizakin5645 He played roselimo , its his world championship prep. He lost 3 games with white, i don't intend to criticize him but he is losing to opponents he would not lose , and the infamous rook blunder . Can you imagine fabi could have done that? Sad.
@@abhishekjha4735 I said in most games. He also played a few Spanish games. But he played semi slav with black, a weird double fianchetto against anish, French against Nils, English against rapport. Just very unusual things. He lost to anish on a mistake during time trouble, lost to magnus, rapport is I think a top 10 elo now. Like he usually doesn't lose, especially not this often, but it's not that he lost to nobodies, this is one of the strongest players, and if you play an unusual opening you are taking a risk. He's had 6 decisive games in 7. It's not his normal style of play. I see no reason to suggest that he's been in bad form. He's experimenting.
I really don't think fabi cares about this tournament. He has tried out many weird lines and openings which are far from his repertoire. He also improved a lot in rapid and had many good tournaments to end 2021. I really wouldn't be worried about him.
@@alon3304 yes. But he has a candidates tournament coming up for which he probably doesn't want to reveal prep for and he has won the tournament already 2 years ago. And I'm not sure about my take either, but his play suggests that he used the tournament to try things out more than to actually win
Magnus's chess playing style is different from some well-known tactical masters.Slow but too solid.Squeezing his opponent as a python till the end.Unfortunately, some chess fans who like sacrifices, entertainment won't like Magnus but every grandmaster knows how strong he is. For me as a positional and defensive player,Magnus is a gem.
This might be the most impressive game I have seen from Magnus. His decision to sacrifice the rook was impressive and proves he really have a deeper understanding of the game. And he took that decision in a matter of seconds. I am no longer in doubt. Magnus Carlsen IS the best chessplayer of all times.
@@RaghavKhxnna I have actually followed him for many years. I have seen pretty much all live games he have played since 2013, either live and/or gone through later. I havent followed his online games that close though.
"And he took that decision in a matter of seconds" That is not correct. In Chess, specially that level, you plan that several moves in advance. As for "Magnus Carlsen IS the best chessplayer of all times" He is probably in the same league as Capablanca, Kasparov and Karpov. But Bobby Fischer is still the best of all time.
@@Tod_oMal Caruana played an innacurate and surprising move that made that option a possibility, and it was surprising and very impressive that Magnus reacted so quickly. I have a tremendous respect for Fischer (and the other ones you name as well, to be honest) when it comes to chess, but the quality of chess has massively improved in the later years and Magnus Carlsen is now on a level that we have never before seen any humans players operate at. It is very possible that Fischer and others could have been at the same level or close to it if they had the same learningpossibilities and supercomputers available, but that is an entirely different discussion. In pure quality Magnus Carlsen is the best ever, and when it comes to merits we can only wait and see what the future brings.
he is not going to give up, he is just going through a rough patch in his career, of course he already reached the highest he can while Magnus is around, but he will still keep trying to go as high as he can.
Not only that, Mamendyarov or Rapport would HAVE to win, Dubov would HAVE to get the ok to play tomorrow, and Magnus would HAVE to lose, and even then, it still goes to tie breakers which Magnus would then also have to lose. The number of things that have to occur for Magnus to lose are all way too unlikely. Its pretty fair to say he's the winner at this point.
I dont always comment, but when I do, it is because agadmator posted an absolute gem of a title for the video - that made me smile, thank you brother! I hope you have a great sunday!
@agadmator should print his t-shirts with these quote - "Hello Everyone", "completely new Game", "It was in this position" , "What we got here", "Asking, what u gonna do?" "Game Starts!" , "Pause the Video" "Contributions" .... These quote will evoke the same fun in his fan club :)
Thank you so much for what you do Mr. agadmator. I'm looking forward to your videos as an update to what's happening in the real world more than any news source about anything ever.
I am so proud of myself to have found the move in the last 3 pause the video moments even though it unfortunately doesn't change the fact that I'm still terrible at chess.
The way he's playing, Magnus has excellent chances of reaching 2900. I don't think anyone can seriously challenge him, as he's just too strong in the classical format.
notice how his projected rating this tournament; one of the strongest tournaments we can have nowadays, despite not losing a single game and winning quite a bit, is still *only* 2865. 2900 is an almost impossible goal simply because of how much lower rated everyone else is. Magnus is unlucky that he is the only player of that caliber around.
@agadmator Thank you so much for all your hard work documenting these games and the possible lines that are quite interesting. We are very grateful for you brother!
The universe was created 14 billion years ago, and through countless changes and galaxies created and destroyed, it has reached its peak with this title
"And now what are you going to do here. You have to play something..." Agadmator describing a hopeless position. Hey this is how I usually start my games. :)
The way Magnus sacrifices the Rook to smash Fab's pawn formation is a move that is right out of the Mikhail Tal sacrifice playbook. That is why Magnus has been such a blessing to the chess world. He plays creative imaginative chess. He doesn't just aim for mindless boring and unimaginative draws. Fab is good but he will never steal the crown off Magnus. He just does not possess the imagination and creativity that Magnus. Fab's playing style is like that of an unimaginative Chess engine.
Just consider the number of loves to make the bichop useful for fabi out of the opening, its just not worth doing as ling as you have other loves and the whole center has to transform for the dark squared bichop to get good, but to do that take a huge amount of change to the position and its hard to imagine that it isnt just better to maintain the structure until later in the game
