This tune first appeared on my Laurel Mill CD. I wrote it in response to a challenge from a friend to write something in standard tuning - he suggested I was "hiding" behind alternate tunings - hence the title! Played here on a Lowden O50C.

I first thought my right ear is not o.k. but it's the balance in the recording which is off... Switching to mono cures that problem, but due the phase problems looses too much IMO. I am experementing with vertical XY and find it gives a nice stereo spread, but still keeping the guitar as one sound source.

@@DougYoungGuitar Thanks Doug. Just saw that you put that in the description. Beautiful looking and sounding guitar. Looks short scale. Just wanted to let you know I bought my 2010 Taylor 8-String Baritone guitar because of your review video. Thanks for the inspiration, Doug. :)

@@seanfullertonmusic9885 It's actually 650mm, or 25.6, so fairly long scale! Video angles will do that :-) I really liked that 8 string, I sort of wish I'd bought one. Glad you're enjoying it!

@@DougYoungGuitar Believe it or not, it's now my main stage guitar...over my Guild F512 12-String! (Never thought I'd say that). I call the 8-string my Swiss Army Knife guitar. LOL
