Thanks for the video. I used a 17mm racheting combo wrench thru the drain hole. No need for paper towels to collect any oil, just wipe up afterward, used a standard drain pan. No problems except for dodging CG workers. Used 1 quart of mobil one 10-40
Yes to the washer on mine. I also got a full dipstick after one quart-32oz of 10w40 which was surprisingly hard to find these days. I also learned that you’re not supposed to screw the dipstick in to get a proper measure.
Thanks for this video! I just changed our oil using your technique. The hardest part was getting the drain bolt loosened. It's a poor design. I tried getting to it from the drain hole beneath but didn't have the right wrench. I ended up removing the front panel and using a torque wrench. I also turned off the electricity to the battery of the generator because when I was trying to get the plug off, my wrench hit the battery plug and sparks were flying.
Good call, thanks for the advice. I was following the Yamaha guide, and it didn't mention anything about not threading in the dip stick to check oil level.
Have you had any issues with the generator? We first had fuel pump issues, so we put a new NPS-supplied one in and it seems better. Now we have issues where it might not refire if it's been hot out and we temporarily turn it off. It's inconsistent.
It's newer tech, inverter instead of straight generator. The Yamaha engine is supposedly an older design but it's overhead valve. We'll see how it performs over time.
