@eltfell Hi, this video was shot in 2005. The 5 Henschel engines are still in service in Norway since its introduction in the 1980s. Siemens failed with its Di 6 model years later, but today some of them are back in Norway too.
The Di4 is used all the year. The newer B7 passenger cars are more and more used, but it is still the older B5 (sometimes they have to use the over 30 year old car car B3) that you see most often. I have taken the train often and it is a very nice trip! Recomend it to all of you! Best regards from a Train fan in Norway!
Great Video! This is really one of the best diesel locomotives I've met so far (I'm from Germany). I love the bass of the Di 4 but also (if you hear closely at 3:32) the sounds that is close to an electric locomotive.

Live in Heimdal near Trondheim and can hear the Di.3 from 1 mile! When its approaching Heimdal station its sounding like a helicopter xD The Di.4 also have lovely sound!
Here in Norway they use Di4 for day train (Trondheim - Bodø) and for night train (Trondheim - Bodø). At 22:14 the Di4 from Bodø drives over the bridge. (ca. 160 meters from my house)
den går faktisk ikke på tomgang. motoren står i trinn 4 pga varmevekslern som må levere varme og strøm til vognene, varmevekslern er kobla direkte på motorn å motoren må ha litt turtall for å få ordentlig effekt ut av varmevekslern.
For sleeper service (NSB sov) you have to buy a whole compartment for a fixed additional fee to your trip price. The room is designed for 2 people, but will accommodat up to 4. I don't know how long these trains are at time, but i guess in winter shorter than in summer. Book early, in recent years space on norwegian trains was very limited, especially during summer.
Oioioi ! Nå føler jeg at jeg ikke kan sitte stille! Dette er sjefsnattoget i Norge. Nattogene var bedre før endringen i 2006. Favorittparti: 3:20-3:30, for da går Norges skjønneste diesellok på tomgang. Tilogmed kjæresten min syntes at dette var stilige saker!
I think in summer tourist season and maybe during harsh winter conditions, but I don't know exactly. But I mean they use the newer B7 passenger cars (looking like the sleeping car you see on third possition). Some helpful informations from Norway?

When is this video shot? As far as I know, the Di4 went out of service many years ago, because NSB wasn't satisfied with its performance or reliability. After they came back to Germany, they were updated or upgraded by the manufacturer and went into service elsewhere (with improved performance or reliability).
