I saw this super cool thing. Old school cave divers used to have illumination flares that actually did burn underwater. magnesium flares. would light up the entire cave. These days the divers just use bright LED lights
It's not a thing. Though there are torches for underwater cutting / demolition that do also produce light you *do not* want to be near them in the open air without a full NBC suit. Fluorine & beryllium compounds are not good for humans.
They have them but they pollute the water and air. Some time a lit road flare will burn under water. We did it in the 70s for science class in a metal bin filled with water.
@@bullboo1 Got to be a fast burning road flare because these things dont usually output enough heat. On the contrary: inerts are used to lower their burn speed.
Well atleast those ATACMS made in 1994 are also still functional after being in storage 😉👍I've seen pictures of these, but not a true demonstration that I can remember... So Valgear delivers yet again! 💪
Well, I remember there was also a Pilot version of flare, which had illumination side and smoke on the other, both sides could be used even after other been used. It was on plastic or metal tube, only seen it once. It was issued in Polish army into 2010s or maybe even longer. Cool thing.
Check out 'self striking road flares" available at auto parts stores. Same concept in bright red. They burn at 2,000 degrees for up to 20 minutes depending on the size. They are an excellent way to start a campfire in the rain.
i'd imagine the colored flares are an excellent way to get around radio jamming or listening. as long as you agree beforehand what a certain colored flare means with friendly observer drone operators, you are able to signal things like "i am overrun, artillery my position" or "requesting medical assistance" or "request resupply" without your opponent understanding your messaging
@@Pilvenugaus spike teams did similar in Vietnam, and when the enemy got wise to the color codes (green, friendly do not shell. Red, shell) they talked to the pilots doing the fire missions and reversed the colors so that red was friendly.
Val, you dunked the flare too early, you should have it burn for at least 5-10 seconds first before putting it underwater for the compound to heat up and burn appropriately :D
Retrospectively I think so too, was doing it in middle of village with civies walking around, and didn't want to spooke them as military man makeing fire around their pond😐😂
@@valgear5525 My favourite NSP is the number 711. Stay safe, I hope our forces will help you out before it's tabatyorka&sharfik time in Russia, altough I am not sure looking at some of the "leaders'" mental constipation. Love you :)
Hi, this looks a lot like the maritime distress flare (France), it's the same ignition system, a cover and a rope that you have to pull to light the distress flare. There are some that make light, others smoke and others that throw a ball of light into the sky (there is also the model with a parachute) in any case it's good to discover the equipment of other armies.
i dont know if they have magnesium in them, but if they do it is possible for them to burn under water if you allow them to heat up properly first before putting them in the water. that is the only thing i think you should have done, letting the flare get up to operating temperature first before putting it in the water to properly see if it works or not. other then that, great video
holy shit. that signal smoke. that's the thing the 810th mobiks crossing the street in mariupol threw when their buddy got zipped up. not even an actual smoke grenade. just a signal lmfao!
The smoke version would be very handy for filling a hallway or room with smoke to obscure an opponent's vision. Set it up on a trip wire halfway down a hallway. When the enemy trips it, the hallway fills with smoke, and you can have different lethal traps in rooms off either side...
Yeah, I was wondering if this is capable of being set up as a trip wire with the internal cord, or if too much force is needed (as in, you have to pull the interior cord pretty fast and with strength).
@@fidel-3470 Considering they make tripmines with frag grenades, I'm pretty sure that would work in a similar manner. Those require quite a lot of force to unseat the safety pin.
@@SlavicCelery FYI, trip mine grenades trigger off the spoon, not the pin. For example the US government improvised method is to stick the grenade inside of an empty food can with the grenade and spoon inside. When the string is pulled the grenade simply slides out, releasing the spoon. Some grenades are capable of being configured into trip wires, but again usually this depends upon releasing the spoon and not the pin.
@@fidel-3470 I understand that they trip with the spoon. You're being pedantic. The pin must be removed to allow the spoon to release the striker. Trip mines are typically based around the pin being pulled out. Occasionally they will be placed in the manner where if they are disturbed the spoon will automatically be released. The reason the pin vs. spoon scenarios exist, is setting up a trap with the pin being removed verses the spoon being released, is just the safety of setting up the trap.
@@SlavicCelery Can you cite an example, such as a field manual, which recommends setting up a trip wire with the pin being pulled out? I have never heard of one, because often the pin requires a good amount of force. The last thing you'd want is a pin half-pulled out. The device I'm describing is outlined in TM 31-210, Tin Can Land Mine. I'm aware of other devices where the the cotter pin is removed and replaced with 10-gauge safety wire, such as when disassembling a mk2 grenade and repurposing the M5 detonator.

Daddy val, everytime you upload i'm happy bc itmeans you're safe could you please give us a video about the FN FAL (or FN FNC) i've been very curious about the effect of older gen battle rifles in the war
EPA Typ VI is a good one. I hope it gave you as much joy eating as it was nutritious. From what I learned from your videos is that soviet low tech stuff is quite good.
Hello Val, are you good? You sound a bit sick in this video, I hope you're ok! Keep it up, we love you! PS: I really like to that you're doing videos also on auxiliary equipment such as this, not just weapons and armor. It would be really cool if you could do a video on the different types of grenade fuses.

I found the scanned verson on the Internet but there is no English translation.
It's basically a flare with a metal handle I use to kill gofers in the ground smoke goes through all the hole they pop up and I play wack a moe with shovel 🤔😉😁👍👌✌️💯
Also, you should see how they look under night vision. If it's bright enough to blind NVG's you could use them to throw or for tripwires if your trench was being raided at night. It would probably suck to have a few taped together and thrown into your vehicle as well. Or if you used them as an ignition device for a fuse bomb or petrol bomb. It's an interesting piece of equipment, you could probably dream up more creative uses for it than I can. If you were going to do a short range drone strike, you could hang one off a drone to use as a decoy. Get everyone looking in one direction while your attack drone flanks. If you had a prisoner in the field, you could stake the flare into the ground and attach the string to him, that way if he tries to run, he'd set the flare off. Temporary area denial. If one was secured to a closed door, if your enemy opened it, it would at least surprise and stall them for a moment. If it were in a small basement or tunnel, it would be very difficult to remain in there for long with one of those burning. If you were defending an area with a treeline or buildings out in front, you could rig a bunch up as tripwires over the area, so if one goes off, you know where to direct fire, grenades, AT, so on.
Funny that you mention how they look in nvg. Years back i used to play first Insurgency game, both sides get nvg for night maps but insurgents have it bit worse and its more expensive to equip so you might want to pass on it for some grenades and rigs to carry them. Insurgent leader gets also flare pistol. The light from flashlight or some other point of light can pretty much obscure whole person and entering the lit up room in nvg gets u blinded. What i used to do is to shoot flare in the area our team was advancing through but behind some obstruction facing the enemy so only someone aiming from the enemy side sees the flare directly. I always wondered how good they modelled the nvg and if this is something that could work in real life.
@@robertkalinic335 I also was an Insurgency enjoyer some years back. I guess that was around a decade ago now. There's was a SOCOM mod for that one that actually replicated old SOCOM really well. Or replicated SOCOM Confrontation, that is. I was always holding off on Sandstorm, and then when they got bought out by Embracer I lost interest, and figured it was done for. But a friend actually sent it to me when it was on sale, and it's pretty good. I only played the co-op so far, which is just bot match, but still a lot of fun. Moreso than I expected.
@@mtgAzim I also have Sandstorm but i got disappointed because it run like garbage on my net for whatever reason, i kept it in hope that i will eventually return to try again. Some impression i got from playing around with bots is that i cant get myself to like the new voices, pretty much the worst i have ever seen in any game. OG voice guy was amazing doing different voices for both sides. The skins and props are can gtfo unless free like they used to be, every game that has them like extra content to be purchased has the problem of people buying these for camo advantage. The maps are kinda cluttered random mess, i remember one map with large dam in the picture. I thought cool, seems like a fun to fight on electric dam kinda like in half life. Nope, its just the backround scenery and the fight takes place in some garbage ruins/slum under it. I can think of several places that would be absolutely amazing maps for the game taking place in east asia that arent some garbage dump or refugee camp.
Hm they don't seem to last long or produce much smoke. But I guess what can you expect for something that is less than half the size of a M18 Smoke Grenade. Hate to be the soldier who gets left behind because the helicopter couldn't find them.
Highly doubtful they could even be manufactured or sold in the US since the ATF changed the rules on pull type ignition for smoke/"noise makers"... Hell we can't even import pen flares from Canada and they have many more restrictions on basically anything firearm/explosive related... Pretty stupid... But the ATF is also banning training marking cartridges for civilian sale aswell, so I'm not surprised... Now imagine trying to import this military grade item, not even considering the Russian manufactured import ban hurdle... We can't get good flares and smokes from CANADA because of US ATF/Import restrictions! 🤨
@@OffGridInvestor according to cursory research, table salt burns yellow - sodium chloride. Sodium is notably yellow, which is how sodium lamps work. Chlorine itself is colorless when burning, and why it is used with other metals to produce salts.
For that purpose, they have RGT-27 thermobaric hand grenades. Or they can make improvised concentrated charges out of TNT blocks, plastic explosive or a TM mine with a time fuze to be tossed into the dugout.
I don't know about you guys, but it makes me EXTREMELY anxious when I see him demonstrating how to pull the ignitor or especially a hand grenade. I guess safety standards are only for the weak, decadent west!
The risk of bodily injury doing these videos is so much lower than the other activities he’s participated in for the last few years it’s not even worth thinking about.
It is a bit funny to have a ruzz fanboy trying to pontificate about "safety standards". Like, did you see what your horde is doing regarding handling explosive munitions lately? A soldier pulling the ring on a flare or hand grenade conflicts with "safety standards", lol.
Fighting the 3r world is for the weak, decadent West. YES, it is! Russia fights a medium European power, and Ukraine, fights an even more powerful European power.
I always find this signaling stuff and all of the non-weapons things as interesting as the weapons. Even just things like rations and basic daily equipment I find very interesting. God bless, brother!. Slava Europe, Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦
Just found your channel and I love it already, stay safe!! Also I know this is off topic, but here’s for anyone who feels they’ve lost hope and needs to hear this: whether you believe in Heaven or not, consider this, if there was a Heaven, are you sure you’d go there after death? If you’re not sure, here you go: God loves you, and he became a human as Jesus, died to take the penalty for anything wrong you’d ever do, and rose from the dead. Sin is disobedience to Jesus’ commandments for how to live, and sin separates us from him- if you want to be saved from hell and be with God forever after death, just believe in Jesus and what he did (John 3:16) and turn away from habits of sin (Luke 13:3). That’s it. Our actions are the evidence for whether our faith is real (James 2:17), but since everyone fails on a daily basis, we aren’t saved by our actions, but only by God’s mercy (Ephesians 2:8-9), so when we fail, all we need to do is confess our sins to God, and continue fighting (1 John 1:9). Hopefully this helps anybody in need, and I hope you have a great day!
My guy you're clearly smart Idk what you did as civilian but I have a feeling that you're business savy. I'm saying this for a reason, you need to setup some kind of communication channel and have a representative (secretary if you will) someone you trust. I think we could spin some money your way as stupid as it sounds I bet there are some companies drooling at the idea of you reviewing their stuff and would be willing to pay good buck for that. Just a taught, ugly one, but if it helps why not.
He’s definitely Czech and considering the fact that soldiers in Ukraine have mentioned him and he has shown footage from the frontlines, I think it’s safe to say he’s volunteering to fight in Ukraine. Just like many surrounding countries having men and women volunteering in Ukraine because they are all well aware russia isn’t going to stop there. Good thing they are so incompetent, corrupt, and lack any and all regard to tactical considerations or we might be in trouble. 😂
