Dude, your wife is very good. Her serve and ground stroke are awesome! She can really t-off on those weak serves. You guys definitely should have won. Tough luck.
She will be very pleased to hear it! Thanks for the amazing compliment! She's a beast for sure! Few missed opportunities here and there but we'll get 'em next time! This is our first few real matches together so still learning how to play with each other. Thanks again!
Good match everyone!. Did you guys play them again? I wouldn't underestimate Blue team especially the lady very consistent at net. Red team there is too much gap between you two and hit more angles and towards backhand. .
I was expecting you guys to win as you are obviously the better players. I guess it's just one of those days. Although if I may, there were a few points where you both were on the same side of the court, leading to your opponents taking control. Perhaps it's those small lapses in communication that led to your loss.
Few lapses in communication definitely occurred. We are still very new to playing with each other competitively like this. Gotta work out the kinks for sure. Thanks Dayo!
@@AcingTennis to be honest, the skills of the couple who served first was better than the second. The lady on the second team had a pancake serve and her volley skills were really minimal, 3.5 level. Hence I really thought the first couple would have won easily. I guess the critical points were what mattered. Bottom line is they all had fun and personally I'm envious as my wife has zero interest in the sport and I'm a fanatic.
@@b-dogs1038- He has excellent form and footwork, but a very short toss, which means he is hitting while still in the crouch instead of extending up after a high toss. Bad effect: not much room for error in the vertical. Good effect, the contact point is very low (keeping the entire serve low) and short backswing makes timing the serve more difficult. It works, and is what he has learned to do. People can make anything work with enough practice.
Dude (and Dudette)...me again...What the heck (but curse word)??? You two should have mopped the floor with them. This was clearly a lop-sided pairing so I’m utterly shocked by the score. You can be honest with me (I won’t tell anyone). Was this a mercy loss to build their confidence? 🙂 Btw, if I had been a line judge, you two would have won every one of Air Jordan guy’s service games (foot fault).
Hahah. This made me chuckle. No they were good players and we made some Crucial mistakes throughout the match due to lack of communication and inexperience playing together. We might get an opportunity to play them again and try again!
Other than the fact that you both were playing the same side of the court several times, you must have edited out all the other lack of communications. I play for an ABSOLUTE love of the game. However, that love also includes winning. I’m going to give you some free Afriend off-court coaching (normally valued at “priceless”). Play the score which means when you’re down, focus on the female opponent. Btw, whose farm that has tennis courts were you playing on???
@@afriendnvisalia605 "play the score which means focusing on the female opponent" when down makes NO sense. If the probability of getting a point against her when you're down in the score is high, it will also be high when you're up in the score. If you're all about winning, you should always hit the ball to her. A more accurate way to express this is to always focus on the weaker opponent. This is true for mixed and regular doubles. Someone doesn't volley well, if they're at the net, hit every ball to them. Someone struggles from the baseline, force them to play on the baseline.
Man , tennis is a funny game. ‘Winning Team’ female basically hasn’t got a serve & the guy has the most ungainly looking serve. You’ll get them next time for sure!
But yet she was on the winning team. I agree with Acing Tennis that there are other qualities that factor into winning especially at this skill level. I coached High School Tennis for 25 years so I have lots of experience with players. This lady lacked some technique but had a fighting spirit. I have heard lots of players complain about opponents who didn’t hit the ball well but won the match. Tennis is a mind game and many players are defeated by their own expectations/ ego.
