Myself, in the red shirt am rated as a 4.0 NTRP in the Midwest. My opponent in the green shirt is self rated as a 4.5 and has played several competitive matches against local 5.0's.
H2H: 1-2
Match Score: 6-3, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4, 5th set 10 point tiebreak 11-9 (myself winning)
My setup: Wilson Blade V7 18x20 with TierOne Firewire in mains at 54# and Tourna Big Hitter Silver 7 Tour in crosses at 51#
Feel free to give tips on technique, strategy etc. for myself. I typically rely heavily on my serve to win and setup points. Until recently I was less consistent and would have lost this match badly. A mind switch as well as a racket change helped me to focus on crafting the point till the right opportunity is there.
I used SwingVision to record this video, if you haven't heard about you should check it out. It is only available for certain Iphones at the moment. This app automatically will cut the points up, as well as provide stats on hitting position, and ball placement. It will create a custom highlight reel based on rally length. You can even select a specific stroke for either player and it will cut a video of that shot only which is very helpful for analyzing your technique. The ball speed and spin type in the corner are not accurate but is a major focus of the SwingVision team to work on. I'm not sponsored by SwingVision but just really love the app and all the incredible features it offers.

Nice video! Are you using your Iphone to record or a camera? And how did you set it up? (used a tripod, put on the floor?). Keep up the good work!

Thank you! And yes, I recorded with SwingVision which is only available on Iphones. Had it set up on a tripod but ideally it would be mounted higher up on the fence.

0:17 "top spin backhand" really?

Yeah, well it's not perfect software. Though it has gotten much better since this video was recorded. The camera position also isn't optimal to catch that correctly.

great vid, tbh I'd rate you as 4.5, not 4.0

Thank you! I'd personally rate myself a 4.5 as well. But my official rating is 4.0.

Yes, both players very solid 4.5s, maybe touching 5.0

also, I think the MPH readings for serves are incredibly inconsistent (I love the app, but this one thing still needs to be worked out). There's a vid of Nadal on the Swingvision account -- he hits two serves that look that same but the readings were 30 mph different. I think yours are up in the low 100s if I had guess.

@@MichaelSienkiewicz on their site they talk about this difference. The pro circuits use radar which gives the initial speed off the racket. This app is more of an "average in the air speed" which they admit is about 10-15% lower than the radar speed. But that metric is very recent. The app gets better every update.

I don’t really think this is 4.0 or 4.5 . This is solid 5.0 tennis . At least upper 4.5 . No 4.5 can hit wide slice serve ace like that or wide kick serve consistently.

Thank you! I would confidently say I have the serve of a 4.5/5.0 but the rest of my game lags behind and is more 4.0/4.5. It would be great to actually be rated at 5.0! It's funny that you mention the wide slice ace, I was just playing a very good high school #1 singles and aced him wide like that 3 consecutive times on the deuce side in one game and 7 times total in the match. Typically my more frequent ace is a flat T shot, which is what I started to do after he began standing in the doubles ally and probably had 4 of those. It was a great match but unfortunately I wasn't able to record it! My serve has always been my biggest weapon and is the shot I've spent countless hours in over the years.
