Imagine you're practicing serves on a court, and homeboy in blue rolls up and asks if you want to hit. And he doesn't necessarily look like he balls so you're like, Okay. And then you get absolutely rolled.

I believe the commenter is stating he’ll beat most club level players which I agree with. 5.0 is a small league in Atlanta- not nearly as many players at 5.0 as there are in the other levels. Blue wins a lot- 76 wins at the time of this posting (he may have more now). How many people do you know have more than 70 wins at their respective tennis level after a few years?

Wow. Every stroke is literally text book perfect. I love the way he accelerates through the ball. His backhand slice is gorgeous. Very well rounded and although he’s likely carrying a lot more weight now, he’s still light on his feet and really shows you how top players don’t get lazy and are constantly balanced, shuffling, and splitting.

His inside out forehand is absolutely fierce. Despite the fact that he's not in the best physical condition of his life, his footwork shows beyond any doubt that he's had elite training and competition experience. This is terrible, 95% of their shots are from the baseline, it's basically passing the ball back and forth until someone misses and the baseline player is almost always using the inferior 2hbh which is the only thing 2hbh' can do, they are useless rushing to the backhand side to the net, they cannot volley, they cannot reach a wide shot, they cannot drop shot from the backhand side using 2hbh, it's an inferior stroke, but if you have todays robotic boring predictable game of standing on the baseline you will see it every single time.

Randomly clicked on this video and recognized blue shirt. Played 5.0 dubs against him (I'm a 4.5 at best but playing with a good partner, we're both in college) last week. Absolute beast, wasn't breaking a sweat. The amount of kick and sidespin on his serve was insane, set up so many easy balls for his partner. Feel and technique at net was impeccable. The guy in blue has some serious talent. His forehand is lethal, his backhand is solid, he volleyed well, against a guy like this you have to be willing to go up the line more on both sides to make him move to open up the cross court. Also, short and low followed by deep to make him move a bit more, preferably trying that on his backhand side when he isn't already in that corner ready to hit an inside out forehand. Also, a good offensive lob when he is close to the net as I can't see him backing up that fast. Finally, if he is hitting with heavy topspin, he needs some time taken away from him by trying to take his ball more on the rise and staying closer to the baseline. You were so far back it was difficult to get the ball out of the center. Regardless, that forehand he has is just awesome. Very smart player.

You make excellent points. Thank you for sharing them. I have to take more risks against better players. Thank you for suggestions. I’ll try it next time. However, if I make mistake (which is evident in video), blue makes me pay with that forehand. It’s an awesome forehand as you said.

@@TennisTrollChannel the only way to improve is to force yourself out of your comfort zone. Take the ball earlier without backing up as much will hurt in the short term, but help a lot in the long term. Work on moving forward. That's much easier to do when you aren't all the way back deep. I'm 50, was a 4.5-5.0 most of my life, but my flat game drives a lot of the modern players crazy because I rob them of time. I also change the pace a lot and go up the lines with different spins...but I try to stay as close to the baseline as I can as taking it on the rise and learning swing volleys is critical :).

Great match, Atlanta has so much tennis talent . I am only 3.5 but can't you use more drop shots to move him around? He hardly has to move. Also, try to make some videos on clay courts, clay matches are more interesting at this level.
@TennisTrollChannel
@TennisTrollChannel 4 года назад
Great suggestion on drop shots. His ball is very heavy (a lot of spin). It's harder to control but I will try more drop shots in future. It makes sense. I like your idea of using clay courts - we'll video the next match on clay.
@dadsfreetimeclassicgaming1220
@dadsfreetimeclassicgaming1220 4 года назад
He's pretty good at the net. Might be embarassing if you don't set it up right. Also I've seen some of these guys play live. The camera angle doesn't really show how heavy the balls are being hit. The arc and pace is a lot more impressive from the side for sure. I second (Third?) the clays courts idea
@TennisTrollChannel
@TennisTrollChannel 4 года назад
You is correct with the camera. Some asked why I didn’t make blue run more. His ball is so fast and heavy I was struggling to control it. It’s tough to come to net against a fast, dipping ball. I did a video on clay yesterday. Once edits are done, I’ll post it- aiming for Saturday morning. Thank you for the clay suggestion and sharing your thoughts. I enjoy your comments.

Both players are strong but the guy in blue is very very good. Blue shirt guy hits a fairly heavy ball and moves it around incredibly well. He pulled his opponent wide repeatedly and followed with crisp shots into the open court. Good serve too. He's a legit player. Good serve followed with a good game. Hits aggressively with excellent placement and consistency. He will beat over 95% of league and rec players.

hi man, first congrats for your tennis and your matches! really interesting to watch :) recorded matches are good to watch yourself playing this sport and improve what you can do better. I'm a first degree coach in my country (Italy, just to say) and, if you want, i can talk to you some tip for optimize your winning conditions during match like this. Very important is your footwork, you are often too much static and you are against a really good corners-shooter, you need to move better your feet to reach the ball. Other tip can be to try to shot in different corners, you often shot in middle of the court and your opponent can easy shot the ball where he wants and he makes sure to put you in truble. This is not good for your tennis. Well, see you next time dude. Good luck for everything!
@TennisTrollChannel
@TennisTrollChannel 4 года назад
Thank you for the excellent comments. I agree with your thoughts and thank you for sharing them. I hit a lot of shots down middle as I was struggling with controlling his pace and spin. I need to practice more against fast hitters with heavy spin (most players don’t hit with the spin and pace blue does). My footwork is lagging. I didn’t realize it till I saw video. Thank you for suggestions.

You don't have to be fit when you hit crosscourt winners on command and have a knack for controlling the pace of nearly every point. When I was in high school way back, our #1 singles player was an very overweight baseliner as a sophomore. Just consistent hitting and absolute screamers for forehands. He lost some weight and played low-end D1 I believe, but of course the talent ramps up quite a bit in the NCAA.
