Players of this level and so many foot faults? Mindblowing

Interesting comparison. Surprising for someone who must get a lot of coaching but Josh is all arm - big strong guy and he muscles everything. Problem with that is the arm is what should give you control, but it can't do that if it's tense as you are using it to muscle the ball. Hence even aiming for big targets he still misses regularly. Mark is nothing like as physically strong but hits it just as hard and with more control because he knows how to generate power using his body.

It looks like he didn't in some of the earlier serves. My guess is as he started losing he tried to instinctively put "more" on the serve and this started to happen later in the set.

Mark vs Olive would be terrific. But I’d also like to see Mark vs coach Andrew or coach Chris from Tennis Spin.

Josh probably developed the jumpy forehand from earl junior days where kids hit with excessive top spin. Hard habit to break but it requires a lot of footwork backing up and recognizing which balls to ease up on and just hit defensively.

Great editing RT team and insightful commentary Ian and Crazy Old Man Scott. The constant open stance forehand by Josh is a tough habit to break. I know this from my own personal experience, I have to tell myself to step in and stay grounded. Even then when I think I’m in a closed stance, it turns out to be neutral or semi-open which is fine. I already watched Part 2 (I accidentally watched it first). I am looking forward to seeing Josh on the channel again. Josh your positive attitude is golden and will take you many places in tennis and life.

Every serve of josh’s is a fault unfortunately. Very bad foot faults, he has to work on that. Foot is way too deep in to overlook

Foot fault?
@Tennisbull-match-statistics
@Mark Sansait: 5:20 - regarding the always return first strategy: I crunched some numbers on over 170 singles matches I have done the statistics (most of them 4.5 level): On average 41% of service games get broken. The first game gets broken 44% but the 2nd game gets broken 48%. Possibly explanation could be that stronger server will elect to service first ? The 9th game (4:4) and 11th game (5:5) get broken 34% of the time but the 10th game (4:5,5:4) get broken 47% of the time. If you return in the first game you will serve at 5:4 (pressure to close it out) or 4:5 (pressure to hold). I'll need to run those stats again once I have more matches tagged ...

Josh, on your forehand under pressure you only do about half of a shoulder turn, and then rotate too fast and sorta spray the ball. I'd suggest reaching early with you left arm for the deuce court sideline on the backswing for every forehand...:)

Doesnt allow a good back-to-front energy transfer. Especially on low/ mid of the court balls you should always try to apply a neutral stance

@@Giul_i0 You mean shallow balls where you are moving in?
@HeavyTopspin
@HeavyTopspin Год назад
Combined with the jump on every shot, this is probably why he's not comfortable at the net: it's hard to follow your shot in when you're hitting the ball in mid-air (and even jumping slightly backwards on many shots), so he probably never bothered to make the approach-and-putaway an integral part of his game.

Omg.. the footfault brigade is out on this one. So dumb. A barely crossed baseline on the serve for a guy that typically stays back does not impact the point.
