Sir in the scientific paper to establish realation between gamma LV and H you have used the Youngs equation. To get youngs eqaution we have balanced only surface tension forces but why the weight of the liquid column is not considered.
This is interesting indeed. If you wish calculate the height by a force balance, as is usually done, then the contact angle becomes important. Without that there is no vertical force component that will balance the weight of the liquid column. But if you calculate it by energy balance, as I have done here, you can neglect the curvature of the meniscus as it cotributes only a little to the volume energy or surface energy. But then the final result comes in terms of liquid-glass and air-glass interfacial energy. If you wish to present the result in terms of liquid-air interfacial energy then one again has to bring the contact angle through Young's equation.
Very good Afternoon Sir.... I am preparing for Gate exam (XE paper) first I take your lecture and then go for William D callister book that is sufficient for Gate Exam ... Please sir help me out if this is not sufficient ......
