I just want to know the mechanism of this reaction : R-Cl + AgCN = R-N=C + AgCl . As it's product is iso Cyanide. So I want to know when the product is Cyanide and when iso cyanide.
are we allowed to show the C-Br bond break in one step and then the electron pair transfer fro, CN- in the next? or does it have to be both together? thank you
Mr. Harris, butanonitrile can be prepared by heating propyl chloride with KCN, right I agree ......but are we going to get the same product when propyl alcohol reacts with KCN?
