Who did you get that question from?.....Surely not from a self respecting gentleman. Sounds like something my aunt or old girlfriend would say. Have a super weekend !
2:37 looks like a type of rosewood. There are many types of rosewood. Brazilian rosewood was used on older totes and was darker but the grain patterns are similar. The types come from all over the world.
I had a Record #5 from the late 90's. By that time the knob and tote were plastic. Record was purchased by Marples. Then I think Irwin purchased Marples and shut down the plane production and many of the Record hand tools. Does your Record plane have the recommended 25 deg grind angle engraved in the iron? Stanley liked 30 deg but Record preferred 25 deg. I gave the Record to another woodworker. It is easy to end up with several #5's. I have a few Stanley-Bailey #5's of different vintage.
Where do you keep the planes? ( I didn't mean, when you are on vacation and the planes are left all alone... I'm asking do you have a display shelf set up? ) tHanks for the video!
No wall space left is a good sign@@NotanExpert-Woodworking . It shows you are living up to a high standard and tradition of collecting fun stuff. Good toys make weekends out of weekdays! Well done!
