I will say that this was a fking banger to watch. Fly are still giga gapped by HLE in terms of clutching, in terms of teamfight, in terms of macro, but DAMN did FLY cook with their drafts. First game was also giga winnable if they just didnt get perma caught in their jg fking doing their gromp
The vi pick was insanity for me, like it wasn't a counter to try to pick an immobile adc or mid but instead 1-2 red side like wtf is that lol, if your jungler can play so many unorthodox picks why no give the last pick to enable that strat.
Basically this series taught me that Fly should make it out of the 2-2 pool. They have proven all tournament they are very good at coming back from behind so now all they need to do is work on their early game and be in the lead early.
@@MagiRemmie LPL is underperforming besides LNG, they did look Shakey vs TL but that was their first game. I still think no one expected them to be 3-0 record.
Yea, taking something so random that HLE doesn't know how to play around it was a briliant little surprise tactic, too bad they weren't good enough to capitalize.
I said when FNC and G2 were in finals and I'll say it again, the only hope EU or NA can win is by picking complete crazy off-meta unexpected picks. That's their game, like brother Doran didnt even know what Nunu E does. KR and CN perma play by the book/meta. Last time EU did something was G2 reaching finals, popping off with random ass picks that worked because CN and KR just can't comprehend what to do into those picks. They are that braindead locked into same 20 champ meta game
If EU and NA were smarter, they'd work together and create a weird secret meta they could practice only in scrims between one another to beat the top eastern teams. Olaf top, nunu jungle for example.
@@matthewminogue3276 gragas might have won hle the second game. throw his ult and fq's comp is shaken... other than that. yeah, pls try more surprise picks eu/na
I swear this is actually what happened at 23' worlds no one had any clue what to pick against T1's double adc draft and whatnot until they ended up winning the whole tournament
Loved that effort from FLY. I'm from EU but holy I wanted Fly to win, especially because their wins have only come from wildcards. One of the most entertaining game 1 and 2 I have seen so far. FLY could've 2-0'd HLE but fair play for sure that was a sick attempt.
I think more teams need to take advantage of playing champions that aren't played often. You can clearly see the game costing mistakes HLE made when fighting against Nunu.
Inspired has got me feeling that Nunu itch... But unfortunately I'm not one to int my teammates in ranked, by playing something I never have played before.
I swear casters saying that Game 3 draft is better for FLY is one of the most stupid shit i have ever heard and it's not the first time they do that in this tournament....
i saw this game live and i cannot lie... Fly gave them a run for their money. But there is a side of me that tells me HLE didnt try, but its only cuz i compared how they play in the lck.
Game 2 made me really hyped. I love Nunu. Game 3 made me hate Quad. There are more legit Cassios in my platinum games, look at whaat he does at fights, pretty much solo lost them all
This nonsense has to stop, this is not what choking looks like. Peanut won all three of the early games and Doran didn't even play that bad. Zeka had a rough day and Delight wasn't great either.
@@classiccuneytwhole KR is shaking LCS#1 won single game against LCK #1 since 2018, so fucking SCARY. Whatever the LPL, LCK and LEC will do against the LCS overlords...... Anyway, lookup what Skarner ult does
see...? you need surprise picks like nunu against top teams. as they always say, bring your game to the table, don't play theirs. just because a champ is out of regular meta doesn't mean that it won't work. more teams should show courage like fq
@@edymiguel4247 I mean its closing in the sense that the top 2 LCS teams from previous years would get stomped by eastern 4th seeds and minor regions. Having teams, even if its just 1 or 2, able to compete and take games off the top eastern teams shows the gap is closing even if slightly.
Best LCK team? I didnt know GenG was playing today. Seriously though, its kind of crazy the disrespect the eastern teams get away with. Like dont get me wrong props to Flyquest, but holy shit what a difference when HLE actually had to put their all in vs when they thought they could roflstomp
I mean i was thinking this for a long time that if the west wants to win vs the east they need to be creative and play with their own meta not the one that is dictated by the east
No hyperbole this might be the sloppiest series a Korean 1st seed has ever played at worlds, not even KT and T1 during 2018-19 when the LCK were at their weakest look this shaky. They didn’t even look happy winning this series, they know they’re catching flame online. I guess GEN really is the hidden first seed
FLY came cooking EDIT: I missed the first game and everyone in chat said FLY was winning it, looks to me like HLE were winning, threw a bit after hanging around baron and unthrew themselves with a great team fight.
So genuinely, what would be the risk in running back the comp that worked in game 3? I see a world where Nunu and Ornn could have made much better plays. Also Cass mid when Hwei was also open again. I really wish my pea brain could understand how you don't just run it back. Whatever NAmen
Fly was really a better team in game 1 and 2 but threw game 1 with one mistake. Still i respect FlyQuest cause they are the only team at this Worlds that is not afraid to make some weird picks like Nunu or Urgot and their matches are always fun2watch.
This series proved to all that T1 are the strongest team at worlds, they are ramping up fast their their mechanics, skill, synergy and innovation is leagues above every other team at the tournament, GenG only beats them because they build their entire playsryle on beating T1 and will lose to the LPL 4th seed in quarters, meanwhile T1 will carve through every team ahead of them with ease. The road to the 5th is even easier than last year :)
