Corvette C6 Z06 2007 - New rebuilt engine - Around 600 hp - It's crazy fast - Ohlins TTX suspension - Pirelli Trofeo R tires on stock wheels. Much traffic but still a really quick lap.
Good driver encountering over take situations a regular race wouldn't contain. Looking ahead and giving car room that was coming up on a slow car prevented a bad accident 👍
It's open public track lol. People are driving to their ability and liking, none of this means anything including lap time. Great driving and awesome car though.
@@trevik-nurburgringdriver Also, it would feel wrong not to get that yellow. I still hope I can find a clean manual in a couple years, fingers crossed!
@@wesleysnively9417, I don't think I will ever have an opportunity to be able to make a true comparison. But I wasnt actually talking about Shelby. I do know the Vette handle like shit in the past, and they were not really that fast.
@@kevingonfishing6023 You'll never get a response. The anti-Corvette people tend to be very low IQ. More than likely, he's a Ford fanboy, and just has a bunch of extra time on 'his' hands to talk crap on the internet while his s***-box Ford is being repaired.
Makes you wonder what lap time this could put down without traffic. Mad props to your driving man, and using these cars the way they were meant to be driven 🙂
He probably lost at least 15 sec due to traffic and being very aware of other drivers. And I reckon he can shave some 20-25seconds more without a passenger and while going hard. But best possible time at true limits, who knows...
@@goldenmanuever1176 maybe not sub 7 mins. Viper ACR with 645 hp and a LOT of downforce managed a 7:01. C6 Z06 would still need a lot of work to come close to that even though it’s a very capable car out of the box.
Absolutely flying! What a lap, very well driven. The car is an absolute dream, I love that it's a manual too. You really don't see these cars being driven (hard) on track that much which makes this even more special.
Thanks you. Those cars are fast, I love to drive classic stick shift cars :) You can also see my other videos when trying Camaro SS 2017 and Camaro ZL1 1LE for example :)
Yes sir the c6 corvette will always be my favorite corvettes. I am 25 and I owned a 2022 mustang gt that’s build from head to toe it’s an amazing experience hearing them downshift from that 10 speed with LTH and corsa extreme exhaust. My next car will be a ls3 corvette for sure 💪 two of my favorite American cars. They always get down no matter where you put the power down at the strip or highway or street.
@@tomsfruitstand6821 yeah I saw that too. I was like OH NO DON'T. Either that Porsche was just being a dick to slower traffic or he was too busy looking at the vette and not looking forward and didn't see that guy til last second. That would have been a very nasty crash. That speed differential was massive.
@@williamestrada1773 Wow, that's rare for a Dodge person to say. I ride a liter bike and hate to talk S, but those Cats are slow on the street; though fast on the strip with the prep. But Corvettes always make me sweat, even on the street, and I've been beaten by a few (granted not stock). I actually like Dodge cars, actually use to think the new Challangers were the coolest remake for a while, until everyone owned one. But sorry, they aren't fast.
if u know this track u also know how insanely fast this guy is. try to drive a 7:33 in an sim racing game.. even there it is really fast for a Z06. but in real life with heavy traffic, thats insane. u really have to know what ur doing. congrats mate!
Fantastic lap I have been a BMW & Porsche salesman for 35 years never felt so proud to see that incredible American muscle blow them away so professionally!
And this is why I love the C6 Z06 and why it’s still so effective. Big, powerful engine, lightweight body, big brakes, big tires. Everything needed to eat everything in front of it, nothing it doesn’t need (like weight and complexity). I did enjoy watching those 911’s “try” to run away from the Z. But Yoda in all his wisdom, “there is no try. Do or do not. “ They did not.
There no way normal people will be able to get anything close to this. Porsche and Ferrari for example have the technological aids in them to assist in faster more consistent lap times. The C7 corvette is a superior example. The C6 still is nothing but a jumped up kit car.
@@OneWayToPeaceOrthodoxy say what you will but at what point is it the car doing the driving instead of you? Driving aids don’t make the car better, they just bandaid a bad driver.
by far my favourite corvette, engine + looks + size + weight + the fact that it was mid 2000s and probably the last of the really good feeling steering
The C5 Z06 was the first from the 21st century to go up against Italian super sports cars and give some competition. This one, however, started beating the likes of V10 Lamborghinis and V8 Ferraris. The 2006 Z06 was the fastest Corvette ever made and it showed. Badass car.
@@acefomin11 once they debuted, sure. With that said, they're far from being lightweight track proven Corvettes. That sole title still belongs to the C6 Z06. It was like a dream come true for Corvette fans all around the world.
This guy is insane. I don't think I could ever drive half as fast as him, especially in a car with this much torque and horsepower, I would spin out before the first turn
Love all Vettes, was a purist and only liked the c7 the best, but now im a c8 fan.Corvettes are the only American car I can think of that is respected all over the world because of the capability potential and all around awesome performance whether its a track or getting great gas mileage on a smooth ride down the highway.
@@phoenixsui its not^^ it just depends on ur setup and settings. i can crush this record by a ton in a sim racer. in real life driving that time in heavy traffic is just insane. of course if ur not used to sim racer and ur settings dont fit u, its bloody hard aswell
@@Satori-Automotive I mean more without the individual traffic situation. but in reality its much easier to pretend what happens with the vehicle and it has its mass that makes it less snippy ;D. Sorry english is not my mothertongue.
Awesome driving and great control, love it! Hearing those warmed up tires squeal is very satisfying in this car as its cornering traction appears limitless
Love how he gave room for slower cars to pass even slower cars! This was absolutely awesome! Before I die...I'd really like to do a couple laps on the Nürburgring, in pretty much any rental they'll give me. Call it a bucket list wish...
I'm stationed in Germany now And I brought my 2022 mustang GT. I'm modding it right now then I'm going to take it back to the Nürburgring! It's unbelievable to be there in person
Look at all of those moving chicanes! A few scary moments like the dive at 3:02, the Saab at 3:22 and the Porsche running into a seemingly stopped car at 4:30. But kudos to other drivers for not doing anything stupid and staying out of the way. Love the sound of the tires begging for mercy under braking and cornering! The Porsches were playing gansta until they heard the LS7 growl above 5 grand and got scared 🙂. You obviously know what you are doing, your machine and your track. Massive respect for your driving skills.
Sure, the Corvette has been dead since they killed the six cylinder, then it died again when it got fuel injection, then it died when it got hamstrung by CAFE, then it died again when it got ABS and traction control, then it died when they implemented 1-4 skip shift, then it died again when they killed the manual, then it died when they made it a hybrid, and it's gonna die again in a handful of years when it's an EV@@CorePathway
Huge Vette fan, but that's hardly what I would call 'heavy traffic' on the Nurburgring. If anything, that was pretty light for that track. Though a 7:33 is still impressive with any traffic.
Nice video and great lap! As the owner of 2 C6 Zs, this video makes me smile. My '09 3LZ is a garage queen and my '08 2LZ is a 700 hp gutted track monster...all motor. I love my 2021 Z51, and I love the DCT, but there is still no replacement for a manual gearbox in my opinion.
That's my dream car! When the C6 Z06 dropped I thought this was the baddest car ever, and it was for the US. When the ZR1 came in 2009 I knew it was the end of Corvette as I had always known it: RWD, pushrod V8, normally aspirated. at 505hp this was a hammer of a car and it beat the piss out of lots of folks who thought they were racing "just another Corvette"......your only clues were the little slit for the intake, some brake vents, and a little badge that said 505hp. Thank you for posting this!! I've owned two Corvettes, still own my 1972 LT-1, and I will on day own a 2011-2012 Z06. Those years because of the options and colors, but yeah 2013 was the last real Corvette if you ask me.
Incredible control. I always loved Corvettes and when that car came out and beat the record of the track, I was so much amazed by the video. Time flies but that car is still brutally fast. I remember japanese always had trouble while testing it in touge or some circuits. It's too tail happy for them. You did really well and had extreme apex speed at dangerous corners. Wow...
ahh yes best motoring...they also did not test a lot of cars back that have so much tq so low in the engines rev range, so the style of driving they are used to doesn't always translate well with light weight high tq big tire cars like the Corvette. tire tech is also not what it was back then as it is today. (2006 is almost 2-decades ! c6z06) They've tested the C7 on best motoring and loved it.
rough rule of thumb, roller cams (like most modern overhead valve V-8s) are good for 4500 rpm power band. So 3-7K is decent. What is really cool is that with proper tuning, it will run at 1000rpm, which is a 40mph cruise in 6th gear - and from experience, when your behind someone that doesn't understand the 40mph speed limit, it will 'work' at 35mph as well (pretty much idle).
@@confuse3671 Yeah the OD 6th gear in the manual transmission GM put in feels like it could do space shuttle speeds if it had the power -- even with my 4.10's in my car 70mph in 6th gear is like just under 2k rpm
Never seen someone drive this hard at the ring and not bin it. This guy's a complete animal. That's what we call a full send, he wrung every last drop of performance out of that thing.
Whenever someone asks me what a Corvette is, I always tell them, “All the car you’ll ever need. When it’s set up perfectly, all the car you’ll ever want.”
In Kentucky, from where the car originated, that kinda driving is callled "Running faster than a scalded dog!" Hope the passenger enjoyed themselves. That car looks like it runs on a rail in the turns.
If you like this video, here is another one when I'm chasing a Porsche GT4 with this American beast ;) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qDxDgJyTPDU.html
absolutely love this. Great driving, great car, great sound. Nothing else to tell. Good to see how good AC is - I have the feeling I know the track- which is not true in reality, of course.
@@spxram4793 the tracks in the top 10 or so sims are all laser scanned, and plenty of drivers have said depending on the car, the sims do a remarkable job The big difference though is that you can find your brakepoints by going too fast because it doesn't matter if you crash, as opposed to having to work up to them in IRL - much more difficult
Fantastic drive! Looks like the suspension setup gives quite a bit of confidence I never had that much confidence in my c6z with the stock suspension anywhere close to the limit
Everytime you got behind one of the Porsches first thing I said was let’s see if you really trying to go all the way! Sure enough they pulled to the right as they should have. Excellent driving sir💯🏁
Absolutely amazing how this car performs in the hands of someone who knows what he's doing. Smoking 911s like they weren't even there. Incredible piece of machinery and engineering.
I mean a z06 is a supercar-esque performer and would probably ice anything within x2 of its MSRP, but I don't think those porsche drivers were driving them very hard
Those tires and that suspension set up we’re doing WORK. The way that car stayed planted @exit thru several of those corners under mad power is very impressive. All together a very good display of driver ability and car set up /configuration knowledge. Put to work out on one of the most iconic tracks on the planet. BRAVO!!!! 😁😂😅🫡👏
