Registered nurse and a soldier--a perfect combo! Reminds me of us! My wife is a retired RN and I was in the Army for 26 years, mostly in the 82nd Abn. Whenever I got banged-up on a jump or such, my "sypathetic" Army wife/nurse had the perfect response: "You'll live." That and a bottle of 800mg Motrin. Just celebrated our 50th anniversary. The look on Sean's face when all of those additional dry erase markers came out of Sierra's bag was priceless. Then Sean was explaining what was in his gear and ruck and Sierra's jaw dropped as Sean rattled off the nomenclature. The best moment was Sean talking about the poncho liner (as we knew them in Nam), a 'woobie' to Sean and Sierra noted, "But I keep you warmer," that was the look of love. Your gear Sean has improved significantly over what we had 40+ years ago and I'm glad you've got those updates and improvements. You guys are awesome. Leave your ruck empty and take Sierra the next time you jump...

Sierra is preparing to do lots of charting. Bless her heart I know she is a wonderful, caring nurse. Plus a wonderful comfort to her many patients. I have a great deal of respect for all people in any health care field. We need many more dedicated nurses such as Sierra. Wow Sean has so much stuff in his pack. How much does it weigh? Since Sean is in the paratroopers that means he is most likely carrying 160 pounds of gear. It could be more if he is using an M249 which is classified in the military as a "SAW" which stands for Squad Automatic Weapon, in this case the SAW is an M249 as mentioned before, which is a Belt Fed Light Machine Gun. By itself it weighs 17 pounds but when loaded with a 200 round box magazine it is about 22 pounds. Let's not forget that he would also be carrying reserve ammunition and sometimes he would be carrying 1000 rounds or a bit more in total, so it is quite a lot.

This is great. I'll be that nurse with lots of pen, I'm particular about my pens lol. Great tip about the basal oil. One of my Professor's suggested peppermint oil (the one that's used for foods/cooking). I'm currently in nursing school. This is definitely helpful for me. Thank you for sharing Sierra. My brother served in the Army until he recently retired as a Master Sargeant. I remember trying to pick up his bag when he would come home to visit. Damn near wrenched my shoulder because I didn't know that he carried a lot of Army issued items in his bag.

It is a known fact that a woman, nurse or not, can cram more "stuff' in a "pocket book" than that can be shoved into a large ALICE pack modified for SUT with extra external pouches. Should she choose to carry a "beach bag" style one, she can fit more items than an issue ahkio sled can handle safely.

My dad was in the Marines we were going through his stuff and it was like there was no end. He had stuff like deodorant from 2006 when I was born he just never took stuff out it just all went into a tote.
