@Amber Wilkinson Addiction Specialists are teaching many families that tough love is the only way. I can understand not allowing an addicted family member not to steal or take advantage of them but I don’t believe that cutting an addicted family member off from the family. It’s so sad because when a person is in active addiction, they are at the worst time of their lives, if they live through it.

Dewi Lew I hear ya man but that's not always the case. These "junkies" are human beings. You can hear her soul cry out for change. It's sad you're as close minded as you are. I was in her position at one point in time. By the grace of God I'll have 7 years clean in 3 days. Recovery is possible. Junkies can change to live productive lives. You should watch what you say. Karma comes around hard for those who try take the judge position that doesn't belong to them my friend.
@CMM726
@CMM726 4 года назад
Dewi Lew she is genuinely upset. Granted if she was given money She would have to buy drugs with it so she doesn’t get withdrawal. But junkies still buy food, toiletries and pay for hotels or housing. They still have basic human needs like the rest of us. Medication Assisted treatment is HEALTHCARE and she should get it just like any other disease is treated in America. Junkies deserve counseling, rehab, and anything else necessary. The tough love strategy has proven a massive failure as the bodies pile up, over dose kill more than corona but no one cares due to classism prejudice and ignorance. Portugal adopted a treatment first approach and decriminalized drugs and they had amazing results!!

My name is Sarah and I am a psychiatrist out of Las Vegas Nevada. I’d like to dispel some common misconceptions about addiction. Firstly, addiction doesn’t discriminate.... it can happen to anyone. I currently have patients that are Doctors, Nurses, Lawyer’s , Police Officers and Soccer Mom’s. This woman is not my patient and I can’t speculate on her mental health. Generally speaking, addiction is both a mental and physical struggle, the routine itself is hard to end. In my experience most OR Nurses know Heroin is not the same as a “bunch of crushed up perks”... she would have learned that in chemistry and pharmacology. I have found that emotional support can be the strongest medicine when it comes to addiction. Be kind, addiction doesn’t make people less human. ❤️

I am a CNA. A soon to be Nurse (taking my state boards next week to become licensed). I am in my early 30s and I understand her struggle. I was never addicted to alcohol (liquid drug) but I constantly went on episodes of binge drinking once per week. I always loved myself intoxicated because I wasn’t shy, was not afraid and numb to everything around me. I had to wake up. When I did I realized this isn’t how my story is going to end. A woman drowning in her own mystery. I am going to take control of my life and write the rest of the chapters of my life and conform this to a happy ending. It’s not easy...but you have to get to that mental state.

What a lovely Human Being, you can tell that straight away. When she said I just wish there was no drugs they are so bad & she is so right. Drugs can & do effect everyone or someone who knows of a friend etc its global crisis just like the coronavirus at the mo but everyone has got used to drugs & that style. I wish they would put the sort of resources they are putting into trying to combat the coronavirus into combating the drug issues. As more people are dying from drugs & have been for years but it's just been left by the wayside. Deniece keep going I know it's struggle I am going through it to & it will get better. You are intelligent & have raised two daughters that you are Sooo Proud of & Love To Bits. Always In My Thoughts. If anyone could give me any information on how to contact as would like to send her a card & care package even though from England it might take a while, I know it would at least bring a smile to her face for a few minutes. Luv from 🇬🇧 To 🇺🇲

She’s soooo self aware. She seems extremely intelligent, it breaks my heart hearing about stories where people got on heroin because of disorders like MS that cause pain.

A lot of nurses steal the narcotics. It's just so tempting. I'm a CNA and I am an addict. I know I couldn't be around narcotics like that without ending up taking some.

I have a very close family member that was a nurse and she got hooked on heroin. The people on here that are saying you were a nurse you should have known better WELL yes they do know better but unless you have done the drug yourself you could NEVER understand the power that, that little bag of powder has! You do it one day and say ok that was fun but that’s it! Then the next day you say ahhh I can do it one more time and then before you know it you are a full blown addict! Luckily my family member got clean and went back to nursing (they are now retired). I pray for Denice she reminds me of my family member, you can see the goodness in her eyes.

We have free rehab here in Houston, Pasadena, Freeport Texas that I know of. I have been to two facilities. Star of Hope ( Houston Texas ),Brazos Place ( Freeport Texas ), Sally's House ( Pasadena Texas ). Totally Free. I was in Brazos Place in 2006, and in Star of Hope when I relapsed in 2009. Please call look-up and call these facilities. I know you will have to make some how get down here and have residence here. If there's a will there's a way. Your smart and seem like you want it, or go to the facility your daughter is at. God Bless you 🙏

Alot of the time, whenI watch these videos I feel hopeless and sad. For some reason, this lady struck me as being someone strong, someone to rally behind. She's the type of strong woman who could ROCK rehab, then become so helpful to others in the rooms. I HOPE THATS THE JOURNEY SHE CHOSE

she turned her interview into a good deed by using it to give a message against drugs, directly and without any doubts - she used her life stories as lessons to quickly offer to us viewers - she still has the best part of her that the drugs did not take away
