Love the organization of your presentation! Where are you in your journey now?

I am so nervous about college. I am a senior in high school and I did dual enrollment for the past two years did pretty well in the courses and some were pre-reqs for Nursing. GSU is where I want to go to college at. I have the requirements for it I just really hope I can get into Nursing school....

I do have a head start since I have already took my core classes. do you think I should consider getting my CNA licenses? & do you have any extra tips that may not have been included in the video
@JamayaRocheal
@JamayaRocheal 6 лет назад
diasia davis look at you girl!! Don’t be nervous, you’re doing great! I got my CNA certification while I took a semester off and I’d definitely encourage you to get it, although I haven’t used it yet I will. It’s extra practice AND if you work for a hospital it may be easier to solidify you a job once you’re graduate because you will get into GSU’s nursing program. Speak it over your life! Hope to see you soon. Please keep me posted! I know you’re gonna do great. Just continue to do well in your classes and try to actually learn the information and not just memorize it. The science courses are EXTREMELY important. Especially ANATOMY. Learn it, breathe it, practice it. Lol get a planner if you don’t have one and actually use it. Have fun while you can ❤️

What was your high school GPA, and instead of taking electives can you take mandatory classes instead so you wont have to take them the next year/semester ?
@JamayaRocheal
@JamayaRocheal 6 лет назад
Niya Williams hey girl! My highschool GPA was a 3.86. And the electives from specific groups are mandatory. Yes you can choose which one you take from some of the groups but electives are mandatory. Whether you mix the electives and core classes up is up to you but you will have to take both. Also, I wouldn’t recommend putting too much on your plate at once because getting those As AND understanding the content is what’s important. The information from most core science classes will pop up again. And remember that you can take some of the prerequisites while you’re in the program but that’s only a few ( the ones that I mentioned).

Great video. Did you have to take the TEAS test? How did you prepare for that? Was it easy?
@JamayaRocheal
@JamayaRocheal 6 лет назад
Fiona Luo Thanks! Yes, I took both the TEAS & the HESI Exam. The TEAS itself wasn’t difficult, the Science portion of the TEAS was difficult. I have a video about the TEAS and the HESI coming up! I used the ATI TEAS Book to study and another book. As well as my anatomy book to kind of skim through!

Hi, I’m going to gsu as an incoming freshman. I have credit for psychology and want to drop it, but would I need to add a class to replace it? That would then place me at 13 credit hours without the psych class.

I am a junior in high school and I am planning to go to GSU, when applying for GSU do I apply regularly and then do my prerequisites for the first two years? And at the end of my sophomore year apply for the BSN program?
@JamayaRocheal
@JamayaRocheal 3 года назад
Hey! Yess for planning ahead and trying to be prepared. So, yes. When you apply to GSU, you apply regularly. You will have to complete the required prerequisites before you will be eligible to apply for the nursing program. Typically you would apply your sophomore year. They do have a new track that allows you to apply as a freshman. That is VERY new so I don’t know much about that process at all. I do know that they are in the process of tweaking it based on feedback and trial and error. So excited for you!! You can do it! I graduate next Friday but I can remember being exactly where you are now!

hi. Nice and helpful video I will be attending Gsu this fall as a freshmen I want to go for nursing. where you applying for the accelerated program? because your prereqs seems to take so much time?
@JamayaRocheal
@JamayaRocheal 6 лет назад
Larissa Christophe hello! 😌 I have a separate video about that if you’d like to check it out. It gives details about my journey and why it took so long but I was actually done with my prerequisites by the end of my sophomore year. I had to retake two courses bc I needed to raise my GPA. I applied to the program 3 times. I also took a semester off bc I was done with my prerequisites I just had to get accepted into a program. I applied to both programs on my 3rd try.

Would you recommend taking a bio class during the summer ?
@JamayaRocheal
@JamayaRocheal 5 лет назад
Onlyone Tia hi Tia! I wouldn’t recommend taking any classes in the summer because my experience wasn’t the greatest BUT if it’s the only class you take and you’re disciplined and you know you’ll do it then go for it!

So after you get into nursing school, how long will it take to finally earn your ban? How many semesters/years if you’re a full time student?
@JamayaRocheal
@JamayaRocheal 6 лет назад
Maliha Ahmed So GSU has 2 programs. Accelerated : 6 semesters including summers Traditional: 6 semesters not including Summers. So 3 years vs 1.5 for accelerated. And then of course you have to pass the NCLEX Exam after you get your diploma 😌
@Mal-nd4nc
@Mal-nd4nc 6 лет назад
Jamaya Rocheal oh okay! So how would you get into the accelerated program?
@JamayaRocheal
@JamayaRocheal 6 лет назад
Maliha Ahmed you take those extra courses that I mentioned in the video and apply!! You can apply to 1 or you can apply to both. No huge difference at all besides the amount of prerequisites you take.

How many volunteer hours do they usually require to get into the program?
@JamayaRocheal
@JamayaRocheal 3 года назад
They don’t require a specific number of hours. Some get in with none. I just happened to have 100+ hours when I applied to help improve my resume/application.

Hi! Anatomy and Micro are required for both programs 🙂.

@@JamayaRocheal that’s crazy because my counselor told me I can apply right now if you only took English 1/2, psych 1, chemistry 1, and math. What’s even more crazy is that they changed the traditional packet during the summer semester. 😭😭😭

So your sophomore year you apply to the nursing program? And then that spring semester you start ? Or your junior year ?
@JamayaRocheal
@JamayaRocheal 5 лет назад
Tae’lah Harris typically you’d apply spring semester of sophomore year and start the program in the fall. So, First semester of Junior year ☺️. And that’s praying that you have no issues, don’t have to retake anything (like me) and you get in on the first try! You got it ❤️

@taelahharris7154 5 лет назад

@JamayaRocheal

Tae’lah Harris yep! Only different between the two is that you will have to take more classes because ACE requires more prerequisites

I go to gsu and I’m really lost rn and online so I tried to email my advisor a few times and she said that if I got one B then I wouldn’t be allowed in the nursing program. Is that true, because in your video u said that u got a B?

Jamaya Rocheal omg im so sorry I meant to say that she said that if I get one C. Ahhh sorry Well I’m not sure if it’s considered being in that but I have told them that I wanted to be a nursing major.
@JamayaRocheal
@JamayaRocheal 3 года назад
@@ashleykim1928 no worries! I did get a C+ but I retook that class. I did not get in when I applied with a C+. But, there are people who got in with a C. I think they do accept C’s they just encourage you to not get them. I also wouldn’t recommend you get a C in a science course. Your science GPA is heavily weighted and you must have a 3.3 science GPA.
