Nuru Mugambi - Invisible People 

We all have been made feel invisible by others at some point in life. We therefore should employ all necessary measures in life to ensure we do not impose such a feeling on the people we engage with. Great talk and an eye opener.

She has a great point... In fact, a lady shared a similar experience here, her names Achi. But she did Mr Clinton when he was in the White House and not President Obama. Achi asked Clinton how he got to now the details of her life - her husband, her kids names, her work, etc. And the President said that one of his most important duties is to learn beforehand the details of each and every person he's going to meet, so that the meeting will count. He will make that person special in those few seconds he is in their presence. I think thats the point here. Treat your subordinates well, and the worlds subordinates, well. They are people too. The greatest leaders and influences, teat people well, and give attention even to the least in the society, thats what makes them standout from the crowd.

I am among those people who keep on missing the exit but this story is an awesome perspective of life

As much as I appreciate Mugambi’s talk, I disagree on her experience as a waiter in America. I think she was a little too sensitive, and brought with her the Kenyan “I’m in America you should recognize me” mentality with her. Many, many students in the US opt for minimum paying jobs without any shame whatsoever! College students take up menial jobs all the time, and they take their jobs very seriously, and do their jobs for a “good reason” while building their resume in the process. WaKenya nao..........?🤔 When you want so bad the recognition from the outside world then, there is truly quite a bit of work one needs to do on themselves. I remember starting her talk with how well off her family was. In America, that doesn’t matter like it is back in Kenya. A bank manager on his day off lines up at the ATM like everyone else!!

I think you take things too seriously....if you look for approval from people or attention you will be very disappointed and annoyed aaaaallllll the time...... It comes with time......

I think a server only needs courtesy and respect, coz if everyone you serve is saying hi to you, asking you your name and trying to be friendly..whoa, that's exhausting! And it's someone you might never see again? Some jobs you are meant to be invisible, just expect respect.

This girl had some personal issues while she was going to college. I've done my under graduate to my doctorate in America and no one gives a rats what you do. College kids work in MacDonalds and enjoy it. How did she expect to be acknowledged at work?? Did she expect fellow students to strike a full blown conversation just to feed her ego??? Get over yourself.

Really? Try having 3 minimum wage jobs. American kids do it all the time, its college!! Its good to be privileged
