I am sooo HAPPY I found you. I’ve been on diets ever since i was 13 (that’s 15 years) and calorie counting has also been my go-to strategy. My body has suffered a lot because of that but literally everyone in my life and online recommended some sort of diet so of course I followed their advice to the point where I was clearly orthorexic. What’s even worse is that I was also obese so everyone kept saying that I’m not trying hard enough when all I thought about was food. I think we desperately need more down-to-earth nutritionists like you so THANK YOU so much for this content, it’s life-saving ❤ also i’m huge fan of your podcast and i’m planning to buy your book.
I have Pcos and I’ve tried all of the diets out there too but when I stopped dieting and fell inlove with running that’s when I lost 16lbs. Although I fell off track when I got injured and stopped running for 6 months. I regained 6lbs but that’s fine. I am now on my way back to a more sustainable lifestyle. Pls don’t stop making these videos. You inspire me soooo much ❤
Great video! Can you explain the changes to metabolism as a result of hypothyroidism and PCOS? And, your advice on what to do about cravings due to hormone imbalances eg PCOS?
This was such a refreshing video to watch. I could relate so much to what you said. I already feel relieved at the thought of taking it back to basics and just focusing on what really matters (listening to your body and eating nutritious, whole foods) instead of obsessing over calories and eating too little because of it, only just to overeat again in the end anyway. Like someone already mentioned, if you could do a video for women who have PCOS/ struggle with hormone imbalances and how to loose weight with this condition, that would be amazing! And thank you so much for this video. I was really at the end of my tether with dieting today when I saw your video, it certainly came at the right time! 😊
Thanks for such a lovely comment. It's so nice to know you'd also like a video on this topic. And I'm glad you found the video exactly when you needed it. I'll keep making more cause when you live in a world that thinks the most impressive thing a woman can be is thin, you need these reminders
I'm an avid follower and Podcast listener of yours and I would LOVE a video or pod episode about being a health professional who doesn't subscribe to the overwhelmingly 'accepted' message being pushed by their industry- E.g. I am a healthy-habit-promoting Personal Trainer who believes in bringing joyful movement to everyday people, as well as helping them achieve their goals in an evidence-based, flexible way. However I am working alongside and competing with other trainers, some of whom post before and after pics of their clients' "success", encourage a "no pain no gain" mentality, sell 8-week programs, use their 'perfect' bodies as advertising, provide meal plans (even tho this is wayyyy out of scope for a PT, and also not helpful long term) and inundate their socials with clickbaity reels/posts which get them engagement and sometimes causes them to get exposure and succeed in the industry more than those like myself. I'd love to hear your advice on working in an industry FULL of diet nonsense and harmful messaging around diet/exercise, without selling out to the harmful messaging, while still making an impact and getting seen and heard. Love your content, love your work, thank you✨🤍
OOOftt, it's a great question! It's hard to compete with diets and the fact that before and after photos sell. But there are some tricks! I'll add it to my list of possible videos!
