As always, Thank You for all the hard work you put into giving us this information. Takes a lot of work, and then, more time for video editing! We appreciate all you do! Best Regards and Best Wishes!
I prefer MG30 because of the Metal Chasis and ability to stack Overdrive/Distortion and Delay. If both MG 300 and 400 can, it will help me a lot because i usually stack TS and OD with my stomp boxes
I would buy the MG30 because of the IR points which will give the best tone. Also , the included extra two button foot switch for a total of five switches . Plus, it's metal and the screen is bigger and it has more effects than the four hundred or three hundred. The latency in the 30 is just a little worse than the 400, but no one will notice the two seconds of the thirty versus the 1.1 of the four hundred. 😂... Plus, the extra effects really help for me and I just think over all the extra money is worth it for the MG30. Leo, your playing is sooooo good. You have killer killer Legato sir. Just epic and your writing and mixing of music is outstanding. I really like the uplifting melodies very very much. It's a great change compared to the sad and tense minor music used in rock most of the time. Thank you for this kind sir. Best regards Leo... Tim. South Central Indiana. USA..
Great review as always. One thing you mention is that each of these units have a flexible signal chain. I'm not sure about the 400 and 30, but I have a 300 and the signal chain is only partially flexible. Also, I wish the 300 had a few more effects, with looks to be the same as the new 400..
Thank you, I'm happy that you like the review! As far as I know, in all these units you can place the effect blocks in whatever position you want: this is what I mean with flexible signal chain. Thank you for your message!
@@LeoGibsonGtr Thanks Leo. Looks like I need to look into this further as a thought you could only put reverb and modulation before or after the amp on the 300. 🙂
Great preview Leo, do you know if the extra buttons allow you to switch guitar sounds while you loop? The Nux 300 is a bit fiddly to do that from my experience, thanks! 🎸👍
before i own an NUX MFX 10, but it was broken, right now i own nux mg300, to me nux mfx10 dist/overdrive sounds modern and has a lot of effects, and i love it
Hi, thank you for your tutorial. Is complete, all described are soddisfacente. I think that best solution is buy nux g30. Escuse me for non perfect english. Regard. Modesto😊
The one thing about the MG 400 is I wish it had similar floor space to the MG 300. I use my MG 300 for fx, and then some drives and fuzzes in front. Otherwise, the 400 seems pretty nice.
Yes, the MG 400 is a little bit bigger...but you are getting a bigger screen, and two more foot switches. Obviously it all depends from your needs Thank you for sharing!
2nd hand mg300 or mg30, are really hard to beat if you're looking for either something simple that could sound pretty good with 3rd party IRs for home use or something more feature rich that still is pretty new and should receive some updates. I think the right move should have been release the MG300 back then with some room from improvement via updates, but it seems that either its hardware is maxed out or there's no interest in rewriting its code to optimize it, and we won't be getting any updates, which won't make early adopters happy and will make them think twice before buying another NUX product
Hi, Leo. How do you consider the Mg 400 and Mg 30 for makin ambient music for nature videos (ocean, wood, sunset, sky, autumn, rain, twilight, etc, by the use of an electric guitar? I've been listening to specific pedals like "Old Blood Noise Dark Light", "Chase Bliss Audio Dark World", and "Walrus Audio Slöer Ambient Reverb". How you see in a complex and deep mix of functions and set programming on the Mg 400 o 30 reaching the kind of sounds of those other pedals? Sorry, english isn't my main language. Thanks in advance...
Thank you for another great video! The only doubt I got left after the video is how many presets are available on each unit specially the mg400, I been searching on the web and couldn't find any info about it
High Leo, really appreciate your videos. One thing I didn’t get from this is whether the tone is significantly better between the 3 modelers. For example does the MG400 sound any better than the MG 300? And is the tone of the MG30 far better than either, justifying the extra cost in your opinion? For me the main thing is that the amps have a real tube feel and sound. Thanks in advance!😊
Hi John, good point....when I did the video, the MG 400 was not yet released, therefore it was not possible to check out the sound and therefore this videos is focus only on tech specs. Now I have the MG 400 and I'm working on a tone comparison. Thank you!
Is there any news of the Nux MG-40? THe plastic body on this seems like a big no-no for me as someone who gigs live and wants to shift from the Champion 100 and a pedalboard to a multi-fx. What Multi-fx would you recommend between the Nux MG-30, Mooer GE-250 and the Pod Go? I normally would use a PA system or a speaker out for the sounds so the IRs and amp models play a big part to go completely ampless.
Hi, there's no info about an MG 40...but If NUX is now renewing the MG 300, I think it's gonna take many months for the MG 30 to be upgraded. As regards MG 30, GE 250, POD GO, you can check out here my comparison videos: >> MG 30 vs POD GO: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EIWSR8BHR4c.html >> POD GO vs GE 250: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1jdd221XmXY.html Thank you!
Great video Leo. It will be interesting to see how the MG 400 compares with the Valeton GP 200. The price, if it's just under $200US will be a very compelling selling point. God bless and rock on 🎸😎👍
What I absolutelly dont understand, is why NUX does not add 5150 amp (VIVO on NUX language) to Mighty Plug Pro or MG-400…. They added 5150 only to MG-30, but 5150 is a musthave for every metalhead
Hi Dimitri, good point...I didn't noticed it. If I remember it well, the EVH has been added to the MG 30 with the last firmware upgrade, therefore maybe it will be added also to the rest of the modellers. Thank you for your message!
What does a 512 sample IR sound like compared to a 1024? Is it noticeable? I know 100% a 2048 vs. 1024 is literally nothing since I've done extensive testing. But maybe between 512 and 1024 is where the resolution matters? I don't know.
leo, I wanna ask this I read in the web that the MG 400 has 2 DSP chips but I didnt find any info whether the MG 300 has 1 or 2 DSP chips because having 1 extra chip will be a huge different I guess 😁
Hi, unfortunatelly I was not able to find the info abou the DSP in the MG 300, but judging from the great latency improvements going from the 300 to the 400 I would say that the DSP is more powerful in the 400...not sure if 2 DSP or 1 of a new generation....maybe 1 but of a new generation. Thank you for your question!
Hi Leo, I have been watching your videos for a few days and I need help. I am a relatively new player and looking to get an amp modeler/multi-effects unit. I don't mind spending, but of course would prefer to save money if I can. In your opinion, for home use/recording, which unit is the best bang for buck and would last me a long time (a few years)? I have been looking at the HX stomp/XL, Ampero 2, Mooer GE250/300 lite (basically all the mid priced ones). I have also considered getting a 2nd hand Helix. My only worry is the Helix is pretty old tech (7 years or so) and I'm worried it wouldn't be ideal if I'm looking at 3-4 years of usage from now.
Hi Mohammed, it's always very hard for me to suggest a unit over the others in such a specific way, as your needs are unique and my suggestion could not fit with your needs. I try to give you the more info I can, in order to then let you decide which one you prefer, according to your needs. All these units are nice, and i would suggest you to check out what is really important for you. For instance: how many foot switches do you need? how many USB channel do you need for recording? Is there any specific amp that you absoulutelly need? etc. Once you have your needs clarified, you can choose the cheapest unit taht satisfy all your needs... That's they way I would proceed...and I hope you will be able to find the info in my videos!
I've MG30 and i love it. The sound whith headphones is fantastic, but when i connect to ampli or FR , the same sound is poor. I DON'T UNDERSTAND! can anybody help me? Thx
Hi, if you connect to a real amp, you have to remove the amp and cab block from the chain, as you are using your real amp. If you connect the unit to an FRFR speacker, you have to activate both the amp and the cab. Thank you for your question!
@@LeoGibsonGtr hi Leo! I understand and I have already done so. I’ve tried it anyway and the great sound it makes through headphones I don’t get for FRFR. It’s a shame because it has an amazing sound with headphones. thank you for your time.
@@davidpuig5500 I guess you use the same presets for headphone use and FRFR? Those two can differ quite a bit! E.g. I tend to use more reverb with headphone use. Headphones very often are not really neutral in sound (like good FRFR systems) - so they might color you tone with e.g. more bass which can result in more pleasing tones for home playing. Try raising the bass either in EQ block or in output EQ of MG-30.
@@guitarampmodeling8698 hi! I will try what you say! but I still don't understand why the sound through the headphones is so good and the FRFR's not. There's too much difference ... I'm head over heels thanks for your reply.
@@davidpuig5500 Never underestimate the effect of EQing. It can change the sound completely. If your headphones are "EQued" for music listening (as most are) then this will just be like having an always on EQ block in your patch. FRFR speakers - as I said don't tend to EQ for "music listening" they should be essentially flat and neutral
Very sistematic comparison. Unfortunately, i didn't notice that the mg30 has the double samples IRs when i pulled the trigger on the mg400. Is the sonic difference big?
Hi, the balanced / XLR out are useful when you run long cables. if you use short cables, I think it's gonna be har to notice the difference. Thank you!
Do you think Nux mg400 can use 4 footswitchs for 4 patches selecting? And Why can't Nux mg30 use 3 footswitches for select 3 patches. The designer team of this effect is so stupid.
After watching a bunch of Leo videos still he dosen´t say the complete truth . And the matter is none of these nux processors can be use life because they don´t allow to use pretsets and control them with the footswitches. just up and down . If you have a bare minimum of three presets . A clean a rithm and a solo preset this units tottally useless . The same problem with Mooer GE 200 and Boss Gt1 . Utter stupidity from brands that want to force you the buyer to go for the more complete and overpriced models . A chain is only as strong as it´s weekest link. If the lower models are useless than it dosen´t compell you the buy the "better" models . You would not buy the better model of a bad car why would you do it with a guitar processor ?
@@larrypata around the same price of the Nux MG30 the Hotone Ampero is the winner . A bit chaeper the zoom g5n or the Hb dnafx git pro would be good options or a little more expensive about 50 euros/dls more the zoom g6 or the very apelling Valeton GP 200... in my opinion.
Your arguments are quite incorrect actually: The MG-30 has much more than "3 presets" (actually 128 slots). You can also have up to 3 scenes _per_ patch. You can combine scenes and toggling of single blocks (1 switch to switch scenes and another two switches for single effects). You can also use MIDI foot controllers to control patches (e.g. directly activating a patch or a scene from just one foot switch). And to make one thing absolutely clear: The MG-30 is perfectly useable in live settings. There are quite a lot users who regularly gig with it. Its a bit strange to argue that NUX wants to force users to use "overpriced models" because any of the models are so low priced for their feature set that they are actually a no brainer to choose. For the price of the MG line its hard to find something better.
