I actually prefer a natural unedited honest review, because 1 it is more entertaining and proves your human, and 2 I prefer a individual opinion instead of a collective general concensus which just be boring. So ignore the haters and continue will replica and non replica reviews 😊

Hello, thank you much appreciated. I think the examples I've seen were a bit abused. I'm leaning more towards bluing the butt for looks, I've never been a fan of painted gun parts.

@@nickvending9688 Hi. I have seen many old Stenguns here in Norway. Most of them are very worn and rattly. Some has remains of bluing but most has just a worn patina. Maybe put some bluing in the inner corners where it normaly would not wear off easily? Cheers from Norway
@nickvending9688
@nickvending9688 Год назад
Thank you for that. I like the idea of patina - the bluing doesn't need to be perfect.

there were 2 diameters for the suppresers. 1.5 avd 2'' A inside/ home vac pipe would cover the original barrel jacket.

Mark III was blued and the MK II Long Branch was green parkerized. I had both. The Mk 5 appeared to be painted gloss black

yea sir i like that , definitely made the gun look the part . what i love about those is the simplicity of it .when i was a lad it the ta got to shoot a fair few of the older guns on a range day that being one of them also an smg and a grease gun with a silencer on it plus a few others absolutely incredible 👍
@nickvending9688
@nickvending9688 Год назад
A couple of easy modifications that really increased the visual appeal of it. They really are a simple design, British wartime ingenuity at its best and worst. The older guns just have that different and great feel to them don't they, modern guns just feel neutered in comparison.

I too was in the Army Cadets, and fired the Lee Enfield 303 and Bren Machine Gun in 303 Magazine fed. We were assured by our non coms and colonel that if we joined the army after leaving school having learned to fire thes weapons and strip n clean them we would be well in front of the other troops, well l left school but had a job at ICI my dad had gotten for me he having been there 15 years or more, but after 6 months of working in a lab as a lab boy and going to college every week l was incredibly bored and much to my dads chagrin l left ICI ( which then was considered a job for life with many benefits ) and worked at a few different jobs until 2 years after leaving school and at another boring ( but extremely well paid job l was getting more than my dad ) l called up the local army recruitment office and 6 weeks later l was in the Green Howerds at Strensall Barracks Elizabeth the Second Depot the Kings division near York,as a trainee infantryman, smugly l queued to recieve my first weapon and imagine my face when handed not a Lee Enfield 303 but an SLR ( self loading rifle ) in7.62, 😮 and when told we were going to learn about the machine gun a GPMG ( general purpose machine gun ) in 7.62 also, l muttered a few choice things about our army cadet staff lol, it had never occured to me to read up on current weaponry in the middle to back end of the 70s, l must have had 10 army brochures in front of me at sometime and never once clocked the new weapons lol, but my cadet training had helped in the fact l was used to marching and map reading, recoil from the heavy Enfield made the SLR feel like an air rifle especially as l had grown into the magnificent specimen of manhood l had at 18, so it was great to find new weapons to use, mortars, mills bombs, we even got to fire the sten gun or rather a slightly moderner version of it, we were told during ww2 they had cost all of £1 to make from recycled church fences and other scrap metals, also got to shoot a few pistols owned by our Platoon Captain with a stupid name ( the captain not the guns ) and quite a few corporals and sergeants had come back from NI with lets call them trophies, hand guns they had confiscated and not handed in, they all did it apparantly, one corporal had a veritable arsenel in his two huge trunks, he had, russian, german, arabian, american, italian, chinese, japanese and korean as well as english pistols, all with ammo, and large collection of rifles from all over the world even old arabian matchlock rifles still being used by tribesmen. I had a good spell in the infantry, sadly The Green Howerds and many other Regiments are now amalgamated into the Yorkshire Regiment as its unimaginatively named. KOB, POWO, and others gone. I left after awhile to get married ( big mistake, wished I'd re enlisted lol ) and tho having a few airguns thru the years l suddenly discovered co2 replicas about 14 months ago and went a bit mad and have spent over 4 grand on 18 weapons, and cases for em. I made a collection of guns over a hundred years old or classic weapons, l have 3 schofield M3s, 2 Webley VIs, 5 Colt peacemakers ( big cowboy fan what can l say ) a Remington 1875, A Remington 1911 a Luger PO8, Walther P38, 2 Walthers PPKs, A Winchester 4.5 revolver, a Replica Colt 45, and a Henry 1894 Lever Action Rifle, l have now completed my version of a collection by finally acquiring a KWC Broom Handled Mauser with Holster / Stock, which l had been looking for in vain for over a year, but some kind person took pity on me and sold me theirs for which thank you very much. I now finish this ramble thanks if you took the time to read it. . 😊

Great stuff m8 and I do like aging a denix...I've just completed a PPSH41 project , added a period sling and aged it, there's a video on my channel showing the results. I've also got the denix mp44 that's the next one to do.....I seem to recall you have one to?....I'd of preferred the bolt to stay open when cocked on the mp44, I wonder if there's a way to do that?. Anyway the sten looks great, I agree with the posi screws....lazy stuff. I read that the moderator on the sten would burn out if the sten was fired on full auto for extended periods....so maybe single shot especially if used in the commando role.......btw i also had a negative comment on my channel last week, asking me why my channel was so rubbish and why i only talk rubbish...😂.....hes blocked now 😂....cheers m8 and all the best 😊
@nickvending9688
@nickvending9688 Год назад
Many thanks, much appreciated 👍🏻. I'll check your video out, hopefully it will give me some enthusiasm to crack on with aging my MP44 and the sling. I'm struggling a bit with time for the channel, it makes everything take 3 times longer if I have to film it, then there is the editing etc. I'm not sure with the bolt on the MP44, there don't seem to be any easy to find good videos with a tech description of the real gun. Not surprised the moderator would burn out, I can't imagine they were built any better than the Sten itself. I'm going to be checking through my stock of screws, the more I look at those posi drives the more they hurt my eyes. That's the problem with RU-vid, once we put ourselves in the public eye we open ourselves up to attack. I couldn't quite believe that the guy said what he did, but hey, we can't please everyone.
@steelhelmetstan7305
@steelhelmetstan7305 Год назад
@@nickvending9688 thanks for the reply....I think maybe the real MP44 fired from a closed bolt?...that means I think, that after cocking or the last shot the bolt is closed. With the denix only being a model really , it just would be more interesting if the bolt flew forward, if possible a bit of rubber at the end to stop the bolt striking metal on metal, that's what I did with the PPSH41. My MP44 stinks , it smells like hydraulic oil 🤔, regarding editing....I just don't do it, I don't think I could be bothered....but I know it would make my channel more professional, but then maybe I like amateur hour!🤣🤣🤣👍

Hi mate, absolutely love this! Have been toying with one for a while but had no idea how modifiable they were and how easily! (Makes sense I suppose when you consider the original) Would you mind posting links to where the suppressor came from? I’m guessing stock would be easily found on eBay?

Not sure about those screws! There is a repro suppressor available that replaces the entire barrel and nut. The barrel is a push fit into the front of the receiver, the same as the Denix Thompson
