In this episode Skogul and Bodvarr discuss some of the more confusing terms and concepts to people new to our practice. Rather you call it Asatru, Norse Paganism or something entirely different, there is still a thread that binds us all. We should all be able to acknowledge these consistency's while walking our own unique path. You are not going to want to miss this episode.

You are not losing your mind. There is no fear for someone who has experienced certain things and had a psyche break. I've had several experiences which led me to a break when a different level of consciousness was revealed. The society and culture we live in is just another path that is changing as we walk it. Thank you for your podcast. I relate to most of what is talked about.

In the first 10 minutes you had a very interesting concept about how we are probably immortals having a mortal experience, and that this is something like an educational experience. There's another angle to seeing this, that you are the original context so to speak, and that you're explicitly casting your awareness to a certain function, context, or focal point, often recursively, so in order to embody the spirit to perform the subroutine, you must give respect to a higher reason or power, otherwise you never return, and you're stuck in subprocess hell, often due to ego, which was only ever a misunderstanding of the world to begin with, which is why it's a learning experience, and a truly enlightened man carries no ego with him. I think sin is something like spending too much time in a subroutine, and not returning to that original reason.

Wow. This video breaks this down so well. I love this and the description of us all being connected and this just being a path. Where are you guys located at in Idaho? The Near Death Experiences is what brought me to the Norse Path (And my ancestral research) No I don't follow supremacist beliefs and feel this is my path! I come from a super toxic Christian upbringing.

I wanted to comment quick on the topic of afterlife and leaving our bodys like you had mentioned. I watched a five minute video called the egg and it put it in a cool light for me. Basically the being tells this guy were all the same and we go thru everybodys life and experiences and that once we lived every bitof it we leave here and join them were ever the are. Its a interesting five minute video if you guys wanted to check it out.

6:13 I've experienced two near-death experiences (NDEs). From these, I've come to believe that the most challenging aspect is the transition to the afterlife. It's this journey, rather than the destination itself, that I think has instilled a fear of death in humanity. As physical beings, we are inherently ill-equipped to fully grasp the transformation of our state and the expansive shift in understanding that occurs during this transition.

We are as Bodvarr says, immortal beings having a human experience. The afterlife is nothing to be feared.

I too have had one when I was dying back in 2012. I was in a coma for 3 weeks, the major surgery I had the docs let me get septis from my neck to my waist. My memory of the experience was I was in a tunnel of sorts with another spirit, but the tunnel did not have an ending. It was more of a loop. I remember feeling scared, very frightened; this was not a good or nice ride like some say. Next it just stopped, I remember taking a deep breath on my own. Possibly this was the time that they pulled my plug or took me off the breathing machines/life supports. And I took a breath on my own. It was a long journey getting back, but I am a true fighter when it comes to living.

Interesting! I’ve known two people who had NDEs, their descriptions gave me the impression that it has a lot to do with the individual personality. One was a rather self centered person from a fairly privileged upper middle class background who said “ I just knew everything ok” The other was a woman who despite being very intelligent and extraordinary pretty had had a terrible childhood and her adult life had turned to crap and she remembered it as she was just as screwed up and insecure on the other side. Honestly I have never really worried about the afterlife.

Too many of us function under the idea that my way is the only correct way of doing things. Which as you guys have pointed out before, we really don't have a lot to go off of and it is almost impossible to know how things were done exactly. Even then, it is pretty clear that there were multiple ways of doing things and if the Sagas can be believed in this matter, most folks back then didn't get too wound up when people did things differently. I'm sure like today, there were folks that cared, but it doesn't appear to have been the majority. Personally is go based upon the principle of being a good guest and a good host. If I were to attend another group's ritual and they did things differently than me . . . I would be honored to have been included and fully participate in their traditions, ceremonies and rituals. When I go home, I'll do my own there.

3:30 thank you man I've been a pagan for a year and 2 months now, and at one point I felt a connection to the gods and there was a chain of event that let to it. it's a pretty long story but what I'm trying to say is I'm not from Scandinavia or the Norse I supposed, and I felt l was being called. and my life has been better ever since, and I feel heavily connected to them. saying that the gods only target a certain group would be limiting their abilities, if that was the case than Thor would only protect a certain country and not Midgard from the Jotun's.

One of my questions that baffles my mind because I was forced into the Catholic religion, is when someone dies… The family will always say, oh, now so and so will meet back in heaven. But if they were married the words usually are, until death do you part. 🤷‍♀️ I hope to see my first husband well because we were divorced, so those words wouldn’t matter… just saying. 😊

@@Jeevan19966 That would be amazing... But, our halls are not open to the general public...however, if you are local we can meet for a coffee and see where that goes. I am not in the habbit of inviting strangers off the internet to my homestead. Access at that level comes with familuarity and trust. I would counsel any kindred to adopt the same policy.
