if you were trying for tears in this episode then I can gladly say you've got them, my good man, that was such a wonderful episode, I knew Scott was fine, and yet I still got choked up, bravo. 10/10
This is amazing! At least this shows a reason why Gordon gets mad around Scott in the CGI series when he was happy to see him in the books. Also, that ending race with Gordon & Scott was perfect. You can feel how happy they both are. It also makes Scott’s appearance in NWR Tales Season 6 look happier. Long Live the Flying Scotsman!
I can personally relate to Gordon because I have a younger brother and when we were kids we didn’t always see eye to eye we sometimes had fun but sometimes we didn’t get along and things would turn sour. But we always made up for our mistakes and differences and now we get along just fine. This episode really hits home for me especially with the first song so sorry by feist that made me think about my own experiences with my own younger brother. And that Toy Story song at the end was a nice touch too. This was a very good episode and what a way to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the flying Scotsman. Happy 100th anniversary to Gordon’s little brother. And once again fantastic episode NWR1991 keep up the great work and I look forward to whatever you do next.
This is coming from a Scotsman stan you're looking at, but this is so far my favorite Season 12 episode! This is a brilliant way to celebrate the centenary of Flying Scotsman himself! While I am not too fond of the rivalry of Gordon and Scot because of that annoying 'little brother' trope when really Gordon is older than his brother, but for a few fan works that dives deep into that, I can let it slide and at least Scot did call Gordon his 'big' brother. For the story itself, in a way it reminded me of the S3 finale of Liv & Maddie 'Californi-a-Rooney' where Liv and Maddie had a fight before the latter moved to California, with the former not wanting to see her off and overtime the two started to miss each other with a song playing during a montage of them looking through scrapbooks and photographs before tearing up realizing they have each made a big mistake and Liv finally comes to CA, and the twins level the playing fields. Also, I like how Donald & Douglas played a role in it to try and make sense/comfort Gordon and Scot from their own experience prior, as well as the reference to The Great Race with Scotsman regretting of trying to win the great race instead of helping his brother (especially his claim to fame persona before becoming humble). As for the songs, they are touching and emotional, which really fit each scene well when the two Doncaster bros miss each other when the USA tour went bust and when Scot and Gordon raced to Tidmouth. Brilliant job mate! Looking forward to the one with Scotsman and Rex!
Oh wow I can't believe Flying Scotsman is 100 years old. Wow. I remember when Flying Scotsman turn 90 years old in 2013. I hope Flying Scotsman has a great birthday.
A really good episode! Also, love the callback to The Great Race (My 2nd favourite Thomas movie)! In the words of James May: Long live the Flying Scotsman!
This was so freaking majestic! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 such a great way to celebrate 100 years of the flying scotsman! He is truly a really useful engine 😍 Happy 100th birthday!
A great episode! Happy early birthday to the Flying Scotsman and a big thanks to Mr. William for bringing Scott back home and saving him from being turned into a restaurant! (Seriously. How do you turn a locomotive into a restaurant anyways?)
You have Scotsman at the front as a display piece and then convert two, three or more coaches into a sitting area. Scotsman would just give the illusion of travelling on an express train.
@@NWR1991 that’s interesting design! Also reminds me of a Simpsons episode where the family goes to a restaurant that was converted from a wrecked express train.
Fun fact: 4 of the brake coaches used on Scotsman’s USA Tour train were put on display at a railway themed restaurant called ‘Victoria Station’. Sadly it went out of business in 1993. Though it is likely they were sold off for scrap.
This was fantastic. I love how well it ties into Great Race and the amazing relationship between Gordon and Scott. I also love the small detail of the engines knowing about Disneyland and Mickey Mouse. Just thought that was fun along with the American sets, the So Sorry and We Belong Together bits. Keep up the amazing work, man. I'm so glad you decided not to go full patreon.
The longest episode of your series to date a what a perfect one to choose for the 100th anniversary of one of the world's finest steam engines. Can't wait to see what you have planned with Scott and Rex later this year.
That story was… You did an amazing job with this story bravo!! That ending was so wholesome with the two racing each other happily. I’m forming tears writing this!
That was a lovely story. Gordon and the Flying Scotsman having a story together and getting into an argument. It was sad to see Gordon feeling sorry for himself and what he had said to his brother. It really felt like a feature length story watching this. I loved the happy ending and the songs that were put in were just right. Well done on this amazing adventure :) .
Tbh the one thing in this episode that shocked me to my core is when Gordon and Douglas were arguing the fat controller didn’t stop the fight I guess he realised what happened and decided it was Gordon fight but it’s still an emotional episode and I love it 🥰
This is the Best Story of NWR TALES Gordon and Scott are just perfect too. This is sad with fallout and seperation. But good because of the reunion and the brotherly love of Gordon and Scottsman
Watching this video a day before my older brother moves out made me cry harder than I thought I would. This was a beautiful video to celebrate Flying Scotsman's 100th Birthday.
Man this episode is beautiful in every way! I love it so much, and I had a feeling with Flying Scotsman's 100th birthday coming up you and many others would do videos based on the one and only famous locomotive!
I love season 12 so far, this was a very emotional episode, I even had a small dry tear. I has a idea of Scotty being boastful after his fame and would later realized his boastfulness and came back for Gordon during the events of the great race, now I really want this to be my headcannon. It’s nice to see Gordon and Scotsman reunite again (I knew that Scotty would be fine in the end but all the same) 10/10 best episode so far.
This is what I imagined would happen when The Flying Scotsman went on tour to the USA. He and Gordon would have a wedge between them and they would not be able to make up for years. It really adds emotional development between the two. They may be engines, but the emotions they feel are very humane.
The music choices were perfect for this. It brought tears to my eyes. But I love the moral more; all families fight but at the end of the day, they’ll always be family
Though we all know, the Flying Scotsman returned home, it was still a bit of a gut wrencher watching this ep. I recall in a documentary, someone said, "if he goes to the States, he'll never return." It was terrible how such an engine had to dot about and wear down after the bankruptcy. As an American, I don't want him back ever again. England is where he should stay for many reasons, including it's the safest. Thank you for this episode!
Now THAT was an excellent way to celebrate Flying Scotsman's 100th birthday, @NWR1991! :D I mean heh... I knew that I had a feeling that this episode would go up before the actual date. X3 And can I just say.... I LOVE THAT 2ND SONG! :D
Well it's the 24th here in Australia so why not? Besides celebrating it even thouygh it's day early over in the northern side of the world is like New Years.
@@jimmyhook4852 you can type in “NWR Edward worlds strongest engine” in the search bar, and go to his channel page, then it will give you his channel account, go to the videos page, scroll down and you will find the episode title with Neville’s thumbnail.
This was a brilliant story! Gordon worrying about Scotsman’s fate in America was very touching. Plus, I chuckled a bit at Gordon’s insults at Scotsman such as “Mickey Mouse on Wheels!” Just one question though, will you actually do a documentary on Flying Scotsman’s visit to Japan? (It depends if you can find any further information on it.)
Flying Scotsman was invited to Japan during its American tour but because of money problems that Scotsman was facing back then it never materialised. I only know because it was mentioned about being invited in a Flying Scotsman book I own. But to give you an idea on what could've been had it happen, I found this fun little alternative history book about Flying Scotsman had its international visit to America had been a success for Alan Pegler, the Japanese tour is Chapter 4: www.alternatehistory.com/forum/threads/the-flying-scotsman-worldwide-tour-a-collaborative-supplement-to-bsic.461542/
The video is great! While watching the video, I even burst into tears. After all, I was worried about the fate of the Scot. And I'm glad that everything ended well.
The part where Donald talks to the flying Scotsman and the reference to season 20 well done old chap but I do have 2 question why is Donald blue I know he carries that livery in the railway series but why now. And is the BWBA series cannon to your series
1. Originally I was going to have D&D carry blue in the flashbacks and black in stories that are set in the current era, ones without the year unlike the flashback episodes. I had planned to have an episode about them being repainted black due to their presence in the TV series for familiarity since the 1980’s. But then I began to think they should carry the blue livery in the current era, as they were blue in the books, even during the time when the early years of the television series was new, and it would cause some continuity errors, and I would implement them being blue next year in stories set in the present day. 2. I had mentioned in my timeline videos that the only episodes from Big World to be canon are the stories set on Sodor while the international stories were fictional by the TV series production team since the TV series is canon to my series like it was in The Railway Series.
As I said many times before in those videos, the footage you see in the movies and all are ‘inaccurate’ to ‘real life’ like what Awdry had said, from what I heard, about the illustrations in the books not being accurate to his lectures about the Railways of Sodor.
