Mark Vicente, co-director of What the Bleep Do We Know? talks about his systematic recruitment by NXIVM. a comingling of Scientology and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Mark's testimony helped to convict Keith Raniere. During his membership, Mark was asked to record Raniere and this footage was the basis for the excellent documentary The Vow.

Atack is focused on the methods the high control groups use to manipulate. Tragically there ARE ways to manipulate people, probably all people. So important to recognize those ways. It saddens me to see that Vicente seems to be focused on what he did wrong or what’s wrong with him. I wish he’d let himself off the hook. It wasn’t a flaw in him or his problem or his mistake. He crossed paths with a group run by a sociopath who spent his whole life designing complex ways to control people.

As my dear friend Yuval Laor is prone to say, joining a cult is like stepping in dog mess. I've met so many highly intelligent, empathetic, talented people who for years after their involvement are still baffled that they were gullible. Only psychopaths aren't gullible, because gullibility is simply an aspect of trust. And good people are trusting. As you say, I've focused (for decades) on understanding the methodology. It surprises me that so few people share my concern. The world would be a much better place is our kids recognized the simple characteristics of authoritarian abusers. Maybe Mark will make a documentary for us. It sounds as if he's made a good start with Empathy Not Included. And such a delightful man!

Kieth Renier too inspiration from Issac Asimov's Foundation series, as did Shoko Asahara and Osama bin Laden. ("Foundation" even translates as "Al Quiada" in Arabic) from what I've heard Assimov was a perfectly nice guy, appart from the fact he wrote a rather silly negative review of 1984. Why is it that his work managed to inspire these three monsters?

I quite enjoyed this. Hearing Mark’s perspective makes me feel cleansed. He seems to understand the human condition in such a way. Always deeply insightful and thoughtful. John is an amazing interviewer and conversationalist as well!

I have been taught that Natural Law ( Karma) is a force that is inherent to creation. ( The 7 ancient hermetic principles of consciousness). We co create reality with our Freewill and Natural Law. Truth has this spiritual context, in fact Satanists invoke ‘what has been’ in the becoming of ‘manifestation’. Satanist’s value Truth. They are not much good at Universal Love ( it’s their Achilles heel…. Shh don’t let anyone know). A plane load of people crashing is not all about Karma. Some people don’t fly through an act of Freewill.

I could not help but notice that Mark has a big "Metatron's Cube" behind him. This is a "Sacred Geometry" symbol. Is he still into "weird sh!t" or maybe he just likes the design?
