I find him the most terrifying...he can appear as anyone or anything.... possibly even the 'dark man's in n Europe witch lore.... maybe today in the music of BOC(Imaginos????) Truly the Crawling Chaos

Also, thank you for mentioning that Nyarlathotep is likely inspired by a real being. As one of many out there that has basically encountered “him” via sleep paralysis, or at least an avatar of that “entity,” aka “The Hat Man, even as a believer in science, we all know how close to home and true an encounter with “the Dark Man” feels/is.

Nyarlethotep I think is the spiritual essence of Azathoth himself, even above beings like The Nameless Mist and The Darkness who are just manifestations of space and time. He is the only direct creation of Azathoth so might be the only "real" entity that exists actually. Other than beings like Yog Sothoth that have transcended to the outer void where Azathoth resides he is probably the most potentially powerful being that exists. He was created to exist and be the avatar of Azathoths own will and maybe he even created the beings that keep his maker asleep to keep him from waking up and ending existence. And his flutists and drummers are reality warpers above and beyond Dr Manhattan or beyonder levels.

This entity is actually real, not just a figment of an overactive imagination. I have communicated with him and found that he can be worked with, just as one can work with Lucifer and other dark entities. Sharing this as an Occultist of the dark.
