Retrogression actually used to be a brick and mortar shop in San Diego in the early 2010's and transitioned to mostly online/their Portland warehouse in 2018, the team that runs the shop/customer service are great to work with!
Yeah, Retrogression is legit, they import some frames and other stuff that is often harder to get in the US. Great wheel builds too. I like to support the small NYC shops too, as were all in the same struggle, but sometimes they can't get certain things. I got rid of a set of bars I regret as well, drop bars that had the same top rise as the Pepper bars. Best of both worlds, but had no name on them, so I can't even find them again...
Retrogression is like a wonderland! What do you think of Vendetta bike frames? I agree! I like bike shops cause sometimes they have rare no-name bars and open-box stuff. But it's really limited compared to Retrogression! My life will never be the same now knowing about Retrogression
Retrogression is legit, I have bought nearly every kind of part from them. They stock Nitto and MKS and anything popular. Edit: I could also highly recommend Track Supermarket in Osaka.
And I thought that bike shops in Bucharest don't have a lot of stocked parts, but seeing your video I realized that we have more parts in bike shops. Sure, you visited some nice boutique bike shops, with cool atmosphere and kind employees. The handlebars are nice. Makes the bike look like a track bike. I'm curious to find out which do you like more, the Cinelli ones or the drop bar style. Sorry, I have not purchased something from Retrogression, so I can't help you with feedback.
Scrodzilla is the owner of Retrogression and he rides the one bike I wish I owned but never got around to buying… an EAI Bareknuckle! Yeah Retrogression is famous for having awesome and hard to find fixed gear parts and components! Love your content by the way!
@@FixedGearCycling Don’t know much about them… I ride a 55cm Wabi Classic and I’ve been on that thing for years. I tend to use and only have one bike and not replace them. There’s something about being able to say “I’ve had this bike for x amount of years!”
@@FixedGearCycling I just took a look at the Vendetta Steel frame and I gotta say, the fact that it has a triple triangle and is hand built in Peru makes it extremely unique. I would seriously consider it. Definitely a stand out frame.
I got my Dolan Pre Cursa frame from Retro. They're pretty solid. Also, just read your profile description. You're in your 30s!? Freaking fountain of youth over here lol.
Retro-gression: I have been building a bike that I really enjoy that I can thrash. I have been moving like a snail with it. I was just as skeptical about them because there is not much concrete advice or reviews on it over online. I have probably spent 900-1500 through them. They are indeed a legitimate shop that has been around as long as Zach gallardo lol. I was looking for some t6 material for my bike as I want it to be durable. I have snapped handlebars so quality is everything. T6 means it’s heat treated. And sometimes their website won’t disclose that small detail so then I go to the direct brand’s website to find it myself but I buy from retrogression. I’m still watching your video keep it up. First time it popped in my algorithm. My pedals are primo they are fat but they are comfy. My straps are ynot. My tires are 28mm hard shell tires. Thorn resistant inner tubes from Amazon sunlite. Know your size before purchasing online I use chatgpt to factor in things I don’t understand or know. The type of valve and double check as you switch between the sizes because it can be a little confusing.
Thank you so much! That's so good to know! I love reading about the materials the products are made of, so thank you for sharing about T6! Do you ride fixed gear? How do you like size 28mm? Yeah! I write down sizes, and I am trying to learn the difference or what matters when it comes to fixed gear
@@FixedGearCycling well it depends what the goals are. I want to spend money on material that makes sense to me. I use to ride since 2009 I have tested and probably broken most of the parts on a bike and the cause behind them. I have done century ride back in 2014. The brands don’t matter what matters is how they going to last for you. I’m not a weight weenie if anything. I had several and I mean probably easily about 80 hrs of discussions with chatgpt. Over fixed gear bikes. I know excessive and compulsive. lol for example I have lizard skins because the grip on them last longer. (Sweat and rain will wear them down) As long you get the 3.2mm which is thickness. If you ride with riser bars you want oury lock on grips bonus pack. As they have ridiculous grip. Knowing your material whether it’s steel, carbon fiber, or aluminum all have different tiers and purposes. Durability(impact), light weight(light bike), flexibility(responsiveness), stiffness And most experienced bike shops don’t know there materials because their objective is sales. Bike light wise serfas thunderbolt or the thunderbolt 2.0. Is some of the best well rounded. I have never bought from their website. If you got questions I’d be happy to clarify but keep in mind materials come down to what you goal is with your bike. Mines all about absorbing impact. While having some cool pieces.
