I'm Puerto Rican from the south Bronx and never heard country until I moved upstate back in 93. This was the first country song I ever heard and i automatically fell in love with 90's country. I dont see the humor in this song. But to each their own.

@@MadMax-ut2wc I would actually say that her attitude is ANTI-liberal, as most of us come by our liberal beliefs because of our deep empathy and compassion for other people (hence believing that everybody should be respected and equal to everyone else); if you don't understand that, I would have to assume you don't actually know what it means to be liberal. Maybe she is just too young and hasn't actually experienced life loss yet. It'll come eventually; it always does. Then she will either grow to become more loving and compassionate, or she will become bitter and resentful. I think he will be a positive influence on her to achieve the former. I wont lie this was the first time i heard anyone laugh at this song. This song hits different for me. I am the baby of the family and only girl. My heart stopped and my dad got a call saying they needed him at the hospital when i was giving birth to my oldest and this is the song that played as soon as he got in his truck and he kept praying to take his baby girl. So now that he passed away every time i hear this song random is like his way of saying hi to me.

Good first song, she is right that country music is about the story. The mom didn't die, it was her running with the picnic basket at the end but the song in general leaves it open for interpretation. I laughed when she said "it's real country" my mind immediately went to hence why it is called country music... I think its a very sweet song and a tear jerker if you listening and thinking about anyone special to you... I was a little taken back for a few seconds at her critiques... but then I thought to myself... hey just cause I feel a certain way about it doesn't mean everyone else will... and furthermore how completely awesome to know exactly what someone thinks... I am truly glad to hear an honest opinion and reaction... it lets me know if there is a more positive one its actually geniune.
