@10:46 there is no labeled bike lane meaning YOU share the road and that car was waiting on pedestrians to cross the cross walk. You should be riding in lane and not trying to ride beside cars creating the problem in the first place.. And um you're not a city official and you don't have the authority to move the barriers like that. Dipshit.
@10:46 Yes, the road should be shared and it's legal for me to filter on the road on my bicycle. I recognized that the car was waiting for people to cross the street. Sure, I'm not a city official but I recognize the barriers shouldn't be in the bike lane. If the construction work needed all that space, they could move the barriers back when the space is occupied, but to leave it out like when not in use is bad practice.
@@johndillinger1918 it's like a really big San Francisco, if you know what I mean, the City is a (fill in the blank) , used to drive through upstate when I was driving Semi's, alot of area's up there are really nice
This infrastructure is inferior and simply hostile to safety for pedestrians and cyclists. If these streets were properly designed, there'd be a lot more cyclists around, and way less traffic jams. The safer infrastructure also makes people on all vehicles behave in a more respectful way. These streets just breath chaos.
cyclists run red lights, stop signs, cruise in cars' blind spots and break road rules all the time. They only upload video when a driver does something bad
yea INLINE, it drives me crazy how he dosnt take it when it's wide open, RED lights? there for cars...dude when you see girls on Citi bikes pass this guy, I think to my self..this dude dosn't really have to be any where on time.
I really don't care how people ride, as long they don't put others in danger. If someone wants to blast through reds and risk getting t-boned - and someone did in Terry's video - it's their life. If someone wants to stop at every light, it's their time.
Inline Downhill Vancouver so riding bike like a total douche in crowded city like NY doesn’t put in danger pedestrians and even car drivers, that maybe don’t want to have problems if they crash with idiot like Terry? Legit logic, dude.
Love these videos because as someone who has lived in NYC for over a decade and who gets to the outer boroughs often, I recognize most of these streets. You even got usual my ride home for a few minutes!
I could watch you vids for hours!!! I love your attitude. It's really interesting seeing your city's infrastructure and what different and common challenges people face on their journeys no matter their mode of transport. From a fellow cyclist but across the pond (Yorkshire - England). Stay safe out there!!!
I always thought ActionKid only did walk videos but these compilations are great! This video is 5 years old and just came up on my feed. This is basically a preamble to ZeroEnigma's channel which I watch frequently.
I'm so glad I don't have to bike in a city like this. It's crazy! Too many people making too many of their own rules of the road. You,sir, are one brave dude!!Thanks for reminding me how good I've got it here in central FL.
Props for clearing the bike lane and adding some humor to the edits! That loud mini sounds awesome. Love the pointers about the rules of the road too. As a visitor with some experience riding in Chicago traffic with aggressive/oblivious drivers what are some good streets/routes to ride when I’m in NYC?
Thanks! It really depends on where you want to ride. For the most part in Manhattan, almost every street south of 59th Street is challenging for cycling. Central Park, the Hudson River Greenway, and the East River Greenways are good for cycling. The outer boroughs are much better for cycling, but be careful around Downtown Brooklyn. A quick Google Maps overlay of "typical traffic" on 9AM on a Monday gives a good picture: www.google.com/maps/@40.757684,-73.9855125,15z/data=!5m1!1e1
ActionKid, you have my deep respect for not only living in NYC, also, for being such a courteous bike rider and walker. Just love how you moved those barricades. You were in the right to do so; the person who put them in the wrong place should have known better. Your videos are amazing; keep up the excellent work. Thank you!
As bad as it seems.....I have been around long enough to remember when there wasnt ANY bike lanes. NOBODY rode bikes, except for crazy people. NYC was one of the worst places (outside of a multi-lane highway) to ride in the street. So, at least we've come this far. We'll get there one day! :)
You are a very brave man to cycle amongst so many inconsiderate idiots. Never realised it was so chaotic. Thank you for sharing your very interesting videos, but NYC would be the last place on the planet I would ride my bike.
Hey so I want to get into biking and I have a question for you. What's the best way to handle buses in a 2 lane road where the bus is on the side pickingup/ dropping off people, and there's no bike lane?
Ohhhhhhh, I'm familiar with that! It takes me forever to edit and produce my dashcam compilations as well. People don't realize how much effort we content creators put into our creations.
They need to get Seinfeld to do some PSAs about this, "whats the deal with walking on the bike path? And whats the deal with cycling the wrong way?" George can show up yelling YOU KNOW WE'RE LIVING IN A SOCIETY
I can take the gridlock jams, and I can take the sightseers on the Brooklyn Bridge, and I can even take the cars that make right turn in front of me. But I can't take the people who WALK IN THE STREET!!!!!!
Hi, big fan of your videos here. Just want to say your videos could do without the music. Listening to the ambient sound of NYC from your videos is a godsend. Keep it up!
Blocking that bike lane with barriers was the most disrespectful thing. People are just so misinformed on both sides. They think cyclists don’t follow the rules and they think drivers don’t follow the rules. The fact is, people don’t follow rules on both sides, even pedestrians. You’d have to have experience from all sides to understand each point of view. Then you’d respect each person.
So many terrible drivers AND cyclists. Another great video! One suggestion: could you make your subtitles a little smaller? The size and glowing font detracts from the video at times.
Sitting on the back of my property in a cabin with a fireplace watching this on RU-vid and saying to myself WTF Glad to see someone who had to move an entire wall by himself as others passed and never lent a hand to help in any way, out here at least 2 people would of offered him help moving them, city folks need to slow down and live together more courteous of one another, Dammit people get along!!!
Yer a good rider. So many on these are quite the jerk themselves. Sa-Lute! NYC looks kinda fun. I ride in Philly sometimes, but the only times I've ever al most bought it were in the burbs.
