Rivers finished in 9:18. That is more inspiring to me than any of the top finishers. A total testament to his endurance and will to keep going forward. Truly an inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

@@DarinCSmithWhy the heck would anyone put themselves out there publicly and fake to any extent when they could continue and make a strong finish like he was obviously on track to do-something he obviously truly wanted to accomplish? That seems rather preposterous IMHO. He’s good enough as a storyteller and as a videographer not to need to resort to something like that for a better “story”. His viewership is so high anyway.
Man I really feel for Seth, but him finishing out with like 6:30 miles after stomach issues just shows his grit, will, and never give up attitude/mantra. Great footage as always big man!

To be able to feel like I was there was due to your talented filming, and physical efforts in capturing the heart of the New York Marathon. The ending got me emotional. I can't believe Tommy actually ran/walked it. That guy deserves the full respect of EVERY runner, and a standing ovation. Anyone who doesn't know his story, look up Tommy Rivers Puzey online and read up. He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lung cancer about 16 months ago and was actually placed in a coma for a few months last year to save his life. The guy went from being an olympic-contender athlete to being in a coma and is now coming out of it on the other side. He's a remarkable runner and frome everything I know about him, a really great person as well.
@@kofuzi I saw him at CIM a few years ago... near the front, with the big beard, hahahaha... it cracks me up how funny that guy is. And really amazing, too. He was (is? maybe still, once he recovers) a trainer on iFit for the Nordictrack treadmills and has done a whole bunch of running videos on there. You really get a sense of him through the videos, and he's really a person I feel I would love to know in real life. A genuine kind and good person.
Yo you were literally 2 blocks by me. Wish I came out for the shakeout run! but damn this video reminds of how emotional the NYC Marathon was. As a spectator and now a runner of it, the inspiration is REAL FROM BOTH SIDES. Finishing that distance no matter how you did it is just touching and I love that people recognize the hardship.
I can’t really add to what I wrote under yesterday’s video, so at risk of repeating myself-bravo for such a beautiful cinematic capturing of an epic event, with all its pent-up post-pandemic energy, its cameo glimpses at various subplots (Rivs, Seth, Shalane, Alexi), and not least of all, kudos to you for serving so deftly as human sport-tracking cam without tripping at all!
I love the job you did capturing Shalane. Seth looked so good before the stomach issues kicked in. I was able to catch a glimpse of Bekele when he came off the Pulaski Bridge and again in Manhattan at 57-St. It wasn't his day but it was great seeing him in person. Nice job Kofuzi.
I love that you wrote every elite/sub-elite’s full name except for Shalane. Because she’s a rock star - everyone knows Shalane! Awesome video, Mike. You’re also a rock star!
I swear, this man Kofuzi takes some of the biggest bites from food that I have ever seen. Keep on the good work, Michael. This video has so much poetry in it, love it.
I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to run NYC Marathon this year. Going into it it felt like a once in a lifeline opportunity but now I hope to be back. You captured the atmosphere beautifully! So many inspiring stories! It would be great if all cities got behind their marathons like NYC. Thank you!!!
@@kofuzi I’m curious how you feel the crowds compare between NY and Chicago? I’m in the Midwest and running Chicago would be much more realistic then getting back to NY.

Even the elites heel strike when they’re tired late in the race. 90% of all runners heel strike at least some of the time. It’s more important to land under your center of gravity than to worry about your footstrike, if that helps! Martha

@@kofuzi Just a caution about weather... Most of the time, CIM is great marathon conditions... cool, maybe sunny, maybe not, not too windy. But it has occasionally had EPIC bad conditions (cold, rainstorms, 35 MPH headwinds, etc), so you need to be prepared for poor weather so you can enjoy yourself. If the weather happens, you'll never have a good race time, so concede that and just have a good run. Coming from Chicago, you have the clothes you might need if it gets cold and bad. Make sure you bring that stuff with you unless there is no way just before you leave that the weather is going to turn on you.

you did an awsome job covering this. Thank you, wish it could have been LiveS. Unlike Chicago which had wide coverage, ESPN2 had the marathon listed but didn't broadcast(grrrr)! Fortunately I watched someone who was live at mile 2. Another sub I follow was set up at mile 23 with great footage. BTW, next time rent a Citybike
