I have a video request for Bedford Stuyvesant aka Bedstuy. My great grandmother migrated from the south during the great migration in the 1930’s. Her and my great grandfather bought their brownstone there, which my family still owns. I’m curious on the history of that neighborhood especially on the Blacks that migrated there.
BedStuy has a rich history, same with Crown Heights. Did your great-grandparents come up from the Carolinas? Many blacks during that time migrated straight up from the Carolinas.
Love the tour Tom. You made an error though when mentioning J. Bruce Ismay. He was the managing director of the White Star Line and allegedly was able to sneak on board of one of the lifeboats wearing a woman's bonnet. He was branded a coward by the press. Thomas Andrews was the builder/designer of the Titanic and went down with the ship

*small correction* J. Bruce Ismay was an infamous survivor of the Titanic. He helped finance the Titanic. On the night of the sinking, he made it into a lifeboat when it was expected that gentlemen permit women and children to fill the boats first. He was vilified for surviving and it became known during the inquest into the accident, Ismay wanted fewer lifeboats so passengers could see the ocean more easily AND (possibly) suggested the ship increase speed to arrive in NY earlier than expected. If the ship went slower, they might've missed the berg entirely. Imagine living with that on your shoulders. A Titanic weight. Bm-TSSS. The man last seen looking at the painting was the ship's designer, Thomas Andrews. I'm binging all your videos tours today. Keep up the great work. Liked. Subscribed.

My experience yesterday. There arent lines. I was just there at 3pm and couldn’t get in. You can get in before 12 without a ticket. After noon you need to have a ticket online scan a code. For a time but there aren’t any available for months. When I looked Suggest Go before noon. Or book for the fall for the afternoon. 😊💜. Great videos Tom.
For 260 Million Dollars it is remarkably unremarkable. Not „bad“ in any way, just superfluous. Putting money in infrastructure or social programs would have helped the city more. Aside from that, nice work by Lucie and once more some solid facts by Tom.
I agree with you Pierre 100%. I went to New York a few weeks ago and I must say I was partially motivated by Tom and his videos as well as Sarah funky. I was disappointed in this project. I thought it brought really nothing of great interest. Sort of a breakfast letdown !

Tom misspoke when he mentioned J. Bruce Ismay. He meant to say, Thomas Andrews, who designed Titanic and was last seen looking at a picture in the Titanic as the ship sank. Ismay, who basically ran the company that owned Titanic (White Star Line), also was on board Titanic but survived in a lifeboat. Andrews' reputation today is golden, while Ismay's is blackened, solely because of their differing fates. Ismay died in 1938 after being vilified by almost everyone, including the families of those that died.

Really great channel man! I have learned so much U.S. history thanks to you. It looks like New York is slowly coming back to normal which is wonderful that park looked packed especially if it was still morning when this was filmed. Keep up the great work!
Just one thing to point out: That is NOT an amphiteater, it is a theater. Amphitheaters (i.e. The Colosseum in Rome) had an oval shape and were for gladiators fighting animals and beasts, theaters instead had a semicircular shape and were for fine arts (i.e. singing or acting performances). The Italian in me needed to correct that but I Iove your videos.
Love watching your videos of NYC -- my favorite city to visit (4 trips, late 80's - mid 90's). Used to stay at The St. MORITZ at 59th & Central Park So. -- or The Marriott at Columbus Circle -- both gone now. So, Where would you suggest staying now?? Thank you.

I thought I read somewhere that the shape of the concrete foundation was supposed to be abstraction of old sail ships, which as we know Pier 54 was originally where the Titanic was supposed to dock as it was owned by White Star.
Though Tom Delgado tries too hard to be cute and funny, his solid erudition of NYC history is most edifying and engaging: in short, this guy knows his stuff (which is more than I can say for a third rate "streamer" like Actionkid, a total amateur living off his new-found, monetized career (as a once) video walker. -- he now enjoys mowing pedestrians down with his high speed scooter, calling them dumb and stupid! See his recent Brooklyn Bridge RU-vid video.) Tom Delgado, find him funny or no, has a heart filled with NYC loving erudition which he loves to share! Even as a camera-hugging exhibitionist, he has a lot of historical knowledge to offer! His video on Seneca Village in Central Park blew me away!
The amphitheater is the only cool thing. We could care less about views and walking and plants. We already have enough of each. Well maybe not so many plants/flowers. But we walk enough already.
I was there and was very unimpressed. They wasted $260 million. PS: Diane Von Fustenberg married a German Prince. She used to be Princess Von Fustenberg but after the divorce, she had to drop the Princess.
