I'm certain we will bump into each other vlogging one of these days ... love it ^^ my fav spot for japanese curry is go go curry.. and yes we order the champion currry.. might takes us 2 days to eat it though!.. missed the meetup yesterday, i had to go to work :-( hope you guys had fun
Barr I like how informed you are about the markets. I like both of your cohosts. The Japanese female did a phenomenal giving her appraisal of the village foods.
Wow man this is just awesome. Thank you so much for this video. Now im gonna round up my friends and head on out to this place. John you're the man. Greeeting from a native New Yorker from Queens.
Walk away from Industry City and the river (Inland) three blocks you will find Green-Wood Cemetery, the third oldest cemetery in the United States. Modeled on Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, Green-Wood is the place to be buried in NYC. It has LOTS of famous "inhabitants." Worth a visit when you are next there.
Yes, I actually wanted to film a segment there a while back under their watch, but they weren't having it. I need to just visit though to see it. Thanks Seth.
Great content, I've been binge watching all of your videos and I love them! Please make a video about the 9-5 life in NY. As most people who go there to live, what's the expected way of life when you work 9-5 for example? Things like the amount of work you're expected to do, the level of service you're expected to provide, types of jobs that you're most likely to land if you're just moving there, things to do before and after work, average time it can take to get to get to work, places to go in your lunch break, office buildings, etc. I'm just interested to see the working culture there. :)
We usually stock up on frozen Japanese food from a supermarket out in Queens. This looks like it'll be our go to for Japanese shopping and tasting! Now we're getting hungry!!! Did they have a lot of gyoza in the frozen section?
Honestly I didnt get a ton of time to peruse as we were filming, but I have a feeling they've got what you're looking for. It wasn't as expensive as I expected either.. if this was in Manhattan, FORGET it hahaha.
Go to Mitsuwa Marketplace. It’s a small shopping center directly across the bay from Manhattan with a Japanese supermarket, small Japanese restaurants and bakeries, a book store, and so many other great Japanese goods!
Mitsuwa Marketplace is in Edgewater NJ, used to go there via Port Authority Bus, this reminds me of that place, nice to have something right here in NYC. Mentioned this once before but want delicious Takoyaki head to Otafuku in the East Village, little take out Japanese street style food, yum.
Hey BarrioBrother!! Great vid! Absolutely love Asian supermarkets!! Seattle has a big Japanese supermarket, Uwajimaya, that is famous. So, so, so much fun to go to when I lived there. NYC has so much to offer. I'd definitely go. Always fun to watch your channel.
This place is right around the corner from me in Sunset Park where I work. The parking is a bitch and I'm still waiting for the bbq place to open over there because its right next to Costco.
Nice. Didn’t know about that. There’s a Japanese shopping center in Edgewater, NJ on river road (shuttle or bus from port authority- it’s simple). Very decent Japanese food court with large Japanese population in area. Lived in Japan for a few years long ago.
we would crazy in the supermarket. $17 worth of candy, yep totally understand it hahah.. it is so nice to have japan village, wish sydney also has the same. great food tour and exploring the place :)
Thanks John. I’m from Dominican Republic and visit Mitsuwa every time I’m in NYC. I will check out this one next time since it’s closer even though looks more expensive.
I am heading to New York for the first time in september...got 3 full days and as I am going solo can do what i like. What is the 1 non tourist thing to do and is industry city worth a visit.
👋 John great video. I need your help would you recommend me staying at the AC hotel downtown nyc second option is The Time square Edition what would you prefer.
Seriously, if I want to experience Tokyo I go to Tokyo. If I want to experience China, I'll travel to Hong Kong. If New York is my flavour, I don't go to LA, but the real deal - New York. This place is a local trap
While it's not the real deal, I wouldn't call it a trap. I thought the prices were fine and the food quality quite good. But it's not like going to Tokyo.. sometimes when we can't travel this is still a good fix .
