NYC Trashes Migrant’s Meals… While Families Starve 

Cut that budget entirely. The taxpayers have been abused enough.

This is disgusting . Homeless people and others having hard times can use this food and yet they are trashing it.

Imagine being homeless and never getting this level of treatment.

That's disgusting. All the people out here starving and they throw food out. The elderly, homeless, low income could use this food.

No matter your motivation, food should never be dumped. At least give it to someone else.

I'll bet there are a lot of people (politicians & businessmen) receiving one hell of a kickback from that uncontested 'contract.'

I get my food from a food bank. Most times we don't get to choose what we pick up. Always grateful for what is received. It's not the healthiest or the most appetizing. Occasionally the produce is bruised or dwindling past ripeness.... but it's food. It gets eaten. I will never turn it away as if I am entitled to gourmet meals. Pasta, rice, beans, canned food can be stretched and used creatively. These migrants should have nothing to complain about.

Imagine paying taxes and not being able to utilize resources because the city is giving them away to foreigners who dont pay taxes. New York and LA have become dystopian

This is not about feeding people. This is about lining pockets. This is about being selfish appearing to do for others, but really doing for themselves. It’s always been this way.

If you don't own property in N.Y. there is no reason to stay there, unless you're just a glutton for punishment.

I used to work at a facility for immigrant families, they would do the same there as well. Their excuse was that it tasted different or the seasoning was too much. It's understandable but not anything your body is not able to handle. It was truly disappointing how many were ungrateful and felt entitled to better resources.

Not just the food...all that plastic container waste. One city in the US. Elected officials will not address the immigration crisis. Hearings 2-3 years later, no work permit, how do they think people will survive ?

The mayor of NY complains about how many illegal immigrants are coming to his city even though he welcomed all of them before. If NYC doesn't have resources for 100,000 migrants why does the mayor think that TX has enough resources for millions of immigrants?

I live next door to the largest men's migrant center in NYC. All 2000- 4000 men line up for food and receive it, then eat a few bites and throw the trays and water bottles on the ground. The filth level is INSANE. The food I see on the ground in front of my building looks decent. One problem is that other groups come in and donate better-tasting food that is appropriate to the specific migrant community (AKA - Hallal, Nigerian, Venezuelan, etc.), and the migrants pitch the NYC food in favor of the food they are used to. If I could post a photo, I would. My dog is going to have to start wearing boots because there is so much food on the ground and the rat infestations are so bad I am considering leaving the city.

Meals and shelter for migrants, but the NYC residents are out in the streets and now are losing their jobs? Wow. Makes tons of sense 😑

I saw a woman commenting about how they are just coming here looking for help because they can’t make it in their home countries, and I asked her why she didn’t choose a few families and pay all their bills for them until they get back on their feet. She said, “I can’t afford to pay bills for several other families.” I said, “Neither can the rest of us.” Do I feel bad for the “asylum seekers”? Yes. But I also acknowledge that the taxpayers here are largely struggling themselves. We can’t keep sending out billions to help other countries, accepting millions of people here illegally each year, and hope to stop the crumbling of our own infrastructure and economy. Citizens first.

This is sickening, I myself struggled with homelessness for twenty years. I have a roof over my head now thankfully..but I was always grateful for any meal I received!

I work 6 days a week and have to camp out because the rent is too damn high. Can’t compete with the section 8 crowd. I am a veteran, super healthy, good credit and educated. I did everything right and here I am.

I feel like I've been discriminated against: & it's not a feeling. It's a fact. I came to the USA as a LEGAL immigrant from Europe in 1978. I was 16 at the time. W both parents & 6 siblings, all younger than me. The youngest was 2 at the time. We had to have a SPONSOR. The sponsors had a family w 4 little kids of their own. They had to sign papers promising NOT to place us on the tax payers once we arrived here. They had to find mom & dad jobs & were responsible for our housing, medical, food, etc. After almost 46 yrs in the States, I can say we EARNED EVERYTHING we have. We did not sit on the backs of tax payers. But it taught us the value of the $$$. & today we appreciate everything we have. Now, we have to contribute to all the ILLEGALS! How's that fair to all??? Well, look at the benefits of being ILLEGAL: money, food, transportation, medical.... Expensive hotels like I've never even stepped into in my nearly 46 yrs. in the States. ALL ON TAX PAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lord, Jesus.... Please rescue us ... If You find enough grace to spare us!

The woman has been going to the food pantry for FOUR YEARS?! WTF? Get a better or second job or, I don't know, save money and MOVE where it's more affordable. I won't even bring up her having multiple kids and, apparently, none of said kids' fathers being present.

You should check out the Redbury Hotel in Manhattan on 30th St. between Madison and Park Ave. I'm a resident at this hotel, and with only a day's notice, we received a letter stating that migrants are going to be housed in the building! I see tons of food being thrown out on a daily basis, which is a damn shame given the millions of food-insecure people living in the five boroughs!

$11 per meal is insane. there's no way those meals cost more than a buck or two to make when made in that volume bulk. A no-bid contract is bound to be a disaster and a massive waste of money. Agree with the point you made here, even Factor would've been a much better contender for a contract if the city is willing to pay that outrageous price per meal.

I've volunteered at a food pantry many times. The provided food was most definitely not wasted and was absolutely appreciated by those that the food was prepared for. Imagine the level of brazen entitlement to turn away good food and the level of fraud, waste and abuse to allow food resources to go to waste like this.

I seen 80-year-old seniors working in my local supermarket because their retirement money is not enough, especially now that food is so expensive.

Why can't they tell illegals if they cross the border, they are on their own?
