My most recent Retightning was $150. That's only because my Loctician has been unavailable due to her full-time job. However she charged $30 an hour and I've never paid her more than $90. I try to go every 5 to 6 weeks. I've also done my own Retightning. But that's just too damn much work🤣
I’m in Colorado and consider myself very lucky to have found the perfect loctician. There aren’t many here and she does a phenomenal job. I have really thick hair. She’s fast. She charges $25 an hour and she finished my retie last week in 2.5 hours. I paid $80 including a tip. I go every 6-8 weeks.
Very enjoyable vlog! We can’t judge each other bc everyone’s reality is different (market, disposable income, priorities etc). Anyway, I love seeing snippets of life in new York. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Isoken O. I love your locs they are beautiful. I have 435 locs going on 4 years. The most I have paid for a reti is $200 for three years straight. I now have a different sisterloc consultant she charges me $125. I go every 6 weeks it takes her 4 to 5 hours. I have thick hair 4c almost bra strap length. My consultant has another client with locs to her knees with fine hair and it only takes her 2 half hours for $75.I said all that to say I AM NEVER DOING MY OWN RETI
Omo that's over a quarter of a million naira😳. I go carry the locks for the whole year 😜. Great vlog my daughter. 👊 By the way, your hair is a banger and gbamlicious
currently I am paying about 200-310 for my reties, but the loctician I got to typically can't fit me in until about 12 weeks at a time so I always end up with a lot of newgrowth -I'm not in a metropolitan area either but the price has deffinatly increased. I'm in the same position as you to I don't have the time or the energy to actually do my hair but I have kept up with the front areas when I have important events that I need to attend so. *sigh* I remember before I moved my old loctician was only charging us $140 for four hours and my current location just increased her prices from 170 to 200 for the 4 hours ... the annoying thing about is that there really isn't any consistency and it can be hard to gauge who's chair you want to go to until you actually trust them to do your hair. -none the less we move
forgot to say I love your videos ! I understand the price for new york though cost of living is high there so it coincides I'm sure getting braids is probably around the same price now to
So I had a loctitian who charged $90 and I would tip $10. She started my locs which I love. But she was far and our personalities didn't mesh well. So I taught my cousin how to do my hair and by taught I mean showed her all the RU-vid videos I could find. Now I pay her the same price. She's slower and no wash is included but I much rather give my money to family.
This was fun! Loved it. And like others suggested, maybe you do have to look for a new location… sounds like you may have to sacrifice a full day for retightening, i would say look at philly! U take the bus for the day and back.
Thanks for sharing your sisterlocks journey. I have 239 microlocs and I pay $135 every 6-7 weeks. It takes her about 1.5 hours. I feel like I am over paying but it's the market. I plan to one day take over my reti's but for now I pay.
Very nice vlog. Hang in there, I have traditional locs, medium size and I pay 100-120 once every 8 - 10 weeks, and it’s in Canadian. I know it’s cheap and I’m very lucky, but I empathize with you.
my mom has sister locks and she pays around $150 every six weeks but she also doesn’t have the same amount of locks you do lol i have 360+ microlocks and i pay $150 every 6 weeks!
I was paying 125.00 my location just raised the price to 150.00.. i drive over a hour to her get my locs retightened. You might have to search out of the city for a lower price. 500.00 is alot of money for a retie.. Good luck on your search. 🥰🥰
Wow, these locticians really trying to make it a struggle for us…$500 is ridiculous, regardless of how many locs you have…..I pay about $180 in New York
I want sisterlocks and I want to move to NYC. I was searching for loctitians in the area and most of the ones who do sisterlocks or microlocks are booked and busy 😢
Yes, they’re usually booked out for weeks and even months ahead - I like to book several weeks in advance. You could maybe find an appointment for late Feb/ early March. Goodluck and thanks for watching!!
There’s a travel consultant named Azizamawiyah she comes to New York I think that’s wea u r from correct me if I’m wrong…She has an instagram check her out that may help u n the dept for ur reties…GL on ur journey and HNY!!!
