Description: The nyckelharpa is a traditional bowed instrument originating in northern Uppland in Sweden. Over time, interest in the nyckelharpa waned but the traditions were maintained by amateur and professional builders and musicians. They established the nyckelharpa network, which is characterized by the exchange of knowledge among builders, musicians, researchers and other stakeholders. The informal model has enabled the spread and use of an almost extinct instrument. It can be applied to other forms of crafts in other parts of the world.
