I like the sling idea better than belt or dangler. I’ve made several knife kits and usually try to include a bag for water and some purification tablets. I bet you could come up with some cool ideas for attaching additional survival items to the sling. I haven’t tried it myself but I think you’ve inspired me to give it a go. Thanks for sharing 😊
@faethe000 Some practical uses when needed: 1) Used as it is or cut into a longer strip to use as cordage if other cordage has run out. 2) Use as a fire extender after initial tinder starts the fire. 3) Strap gear in place or hold two pieces of gear together. 4) Act as a makeshift splint of fingers are broken or sprained.
@@urbanknifeguyWhat are you doing with stretchy cordage that's 2 inches long? Why do you need a 30 second fire extender when you can just put more wood on the fire? And for splinting? Splinting with cord-thin material will cut into your skin when it starts to swell, causing infection.
@faethe000 A 2" loop can be cut into an 8" to 10" strip. Fire extender is for emergency cases. Splint is to imobolise and bind. It is thick and wide enough not to cut into skin unless there is an open wound. These are all "emergency" situation as this kit was designed and does not replace dedicated kit prepared to handle different situations. If you disagree, there is absolutely no problem. Just don't carry the bands.
I really like your parang and your setup. Very nice. Im not a fan of tops to overpriced in my opinion. I do like that knife design i just can't justify their prices when there is much better choices for in some cases less then half the cost. Im not a fan of nylon either. I prefer kydex much better in every way.
