This was a great beginners kit for a great price. ru-vid.comUgkxKRURvLsu9Vvyw7gIuvt8FsApoQNCdz-1 Its given us a huge variety to test out and see what works well and what we like to use. Majority of the flies have stayed together well, but some of the rainbow warriors did unravel after catching a few blue gill. All in all, this was a great kit and are so happy with the purchase and value for money.

You asked for suggestions for future videos Tim. How about a video where you visit a totally unknown water. Talk us through how you tackle it, flies, methods, finding the fish, depths, watercraft etc. An honest video , where even if you blank, there is still a lot that we learn.
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769

@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
@@outdammspot Yes , its to do with privacy laws you have to be very carful where and whom you film and gain the correct consents or it can come back to bite you ! . The big lakes like anglian water wont allow us to film promotional stuff with Wychwood etc without written consent and they want to charge for the privilege !! .. Crazy world !

I think that's a great suggestion. We all kind of know what to do when things are going well. It's when nothing is happening that we need guidance on the thought process/structure of what we should be going through; how often to change fly, depth, position, etc.

I really enjoy your fishing videos, you are very informative and very skilled. Watching your videos has taught me how to fish buzzers and nymphs better. However, I have trouble using Shipmans, I know of guys who are using nothing else and catching plenty of fish. Could you do a video on using Shipman buzzers please? Should it be fished strictly as a dry or as a buoyant wet? Gink or no gink? Singly or as part of a team? Thanks
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
As with any fly there is no 'right or wrong' way of fishing it . Shipmans or crippled midge patterns make excellent dries when the fish are high and feeding on spent buzzer shucks or taking the adults lying flat in the surface . In this case a little gink on the fly to help it shed the water like any other dry is needed . You can also fish these flies just the same way as you would a nymph or buzzer in any one of my videos , they are after all a buzzer imitation . Don't over think it too much and experiment for yourself , every angler will have a different way of using them and believe that theirs is the right way ! As I say fishing is not black and white so in answer to your question there is no specific way to fish any fly .. and the Shipmans should be treated as any other buzzer of nymph pattern .. Tight lines

How come you don’t strike into the fish? Do you just tighten the line?
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 6 месяцев назад
When fishing like this by the time you have felt the take the fish have hooked themselves , this can be helped by a little strip strike . If you strike a hooked fish you just increase the risk of hook pulls and snap offs . The only time you strike is when you can see the take i.e dry fly or indicator fishing .

Any reason for using a 7 weight?
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
Just my preferred go to set up. Quick to load , turns a team of flies over nicely and means I can get the fish in nice and quick when catch and releasing . If I were using lighter tippets I would probably go down to a 5wt but to be fair these Wychwood T2s are pretty soft and do a good job on taming powerful fish . What's your 'go to' set up ?

Great to see you back,you had great sport and a nice day for it,just one question I have trouble with the 3 turn water knot as I left handed,do you always have loop facing down and put nylon behind loop as everyone does it different, which is confusing.thanks.
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
No , it shouldn't make a difference to the knot as long as the dropper and mainline go through the loop 3 times and you cut the dropper end facing up towards your fly line it will be fine .

I'm a little late to the vid, my apologies, but I have no clue how you cast 12ft of just tippet directly from the fly line. You even have a 7wt line there, tried it with a 4wt and there is no energy transfer from fly line to tippet whatsoever, it just lands in a big mess. Please tell, what's the trick you don't have to taper down in a leader that long?
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
I regularly use tippets of up to 24ft when competing . you can cast these with 4wts or 9wts and everything in-between . Its just down to casting technique . Without seeing your cast I couldn't start to give you any proper advise . It can be a timing issue or a tracking issue , sometimes an issue with your tackle balance . I would suggest if you are struggling to turn over a 12ft leader its timing or tracking . I would suggest a couple of hours with your local instructor and they will put your right .

Mines the black blob . Cant make it work for love nor money ! Try substituting your buzzer patterns with Diawls and fish them just the same . They work great on buzzer feeders . This line is the Wychwood rocket floater . Great line for me . I highly recommend the Cortland 444 peach and the Snowbee XS . Stay clear of non stretch floaters and anything that says 'competition ' or 'Distance ' !

@@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 great advice on floating flylines there mate … the non stretch ones just don’t personally work for me …. I brought and sold the new Rio stillwater taper a few months back it was overweighted by 2 so was a 7 weight on my sage r8 5 weight rod (Even though it said 5wt on 5he box) And I don’t care what they say you cannot make a non stretch line lie straight no matter how much you hand stretch it. It did cast like a beast though but the drawbacks outweigh the benefits. Other brand no stretch floating lines suffer from the same issues too they coil on the water especially in the cold weather

Nice one Tim, at the three turn water knot, if you tie a simple overhand knot with the dropper, you'll have a nice square tag.
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
It weakens the main line and causes break offs if you add the overhand knot . Pinches the fluro .
@connoro8610
@connoro8610 Год назад
more patience needed to get him in the net. Same with Rhys fishes, you're both far too eager to net the fish. Just chill.
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
It’s not we’re impatient . When catch and releasing you want that fish in double quick so it’s not tired and recovers quickly . It’s just good c&r practice . The longer you play them the higher the chances of damaging the fish .
